the shot of maze when she sees trixie come in is so raw and powerful, her character was so well written this season
Thank goodness they didn't make up some BS excuse to make her betray Lucifer and Co. this half.
For real. That and when trixie talks in denial to Maze and Mazikeen can literally do or say nothing in response except cry to keep her composure.

It hurts Maze because Dan was everything Lillith WASN'T to her. An actual GOOD damn parent. Dan may have had a FILE of screw us, but he loved Trixie and always wanted to be there for her.
It's the only reason he went to hell. He was feeling guilty for not being there as Trixie's father. The exact opposite of Lillith who just dumped the Lillim in hell.
honestly I think Scarlett needs more scenes she's really underrated and her acting is really good like shown in this scene

I didn’t even realise that the first time, when I heard lucifer say that to her, he was actually being nice and endearing.
The thing is that he's always endearing... The tone in his voice ❤️
Usually he calls her weird names, this was a nice touch

It's very telling that Trixie refuses to accept Dan's death until Lucifer confirms it.
She knows that Lucifer can't lie.
i always thought that was just a cliche thing they do in movies and TV, the whole “no he’s not dead” thing. until it happened to me and it took me a solid hour to stop thinking everyone was making a mistake.
@@cfcm_design Reading this made me remember that same situation for me. I was three when I lost my brother. It took until they were lowering him into the ground for it to truly hit home he was gone. I couldn't accept it. I wouldn't. He was always with me. We did everything together. Everything. I have been living with my demon that was born that day ever since and I will live with that demon til my dying days.
Lose can be quite powerful and destructive.

Trixie saying "I want my daddy" as she's sobbing just broke me. I knew Dan was going to die but I wasn't expecting it to be so emotional. Also, Amenadiel and Maze stepping up to help Lucifer track down those responsible for Dan's death just as Lucifer had done so for Caleb's was a nice callback

This was a dark, scary thing that she couldn't fight for Trixie. She had to watch the child she loves more than any other go through what was, for Maze, one of the most traumatic things. It is DAMN.

The beginning of the next episode really captured that 😭 when she broke down after finding the shirt Dan stole from Chloe when Maze knocked him out and left him naked in her (Chloe's) bed...
Shows how much Trixie trusts his integrity. Lucifer himself has never lied; pranks and hyperbole aside. And Lucifer has been NOTHING but honest with her. It's what makes this the more heartbreaking. For her last hope, the man who never lies, to tell her that he cannot speak the words she wants to hear is just the last nail in the coffin.
there’s a theory about how lucifer wanted to lie so bad to make trixie feel better but knew he couldn’t. that line “my sweet child” was the best he could do for her to soften the blow even if it was abit.
Trixie broke me here. And Lucifer finally calling her "my sweet child" was beautifully heartbreaking.

This broke my heart. A few things to mention:
1) Maze crying because that was truly her good friend.
2) Trixie, period.
and MOST of all, the fact that Chloe had to go through this as a child and now her child is going through that same loss. When she was like "I know baby, I know". It hurt different but she knows exactly what that feels like while also losing a friend an ex.
@@ridanadir2800 In the episode about her dad (s2e7) it was mentioned her father died 16 years ago when Chloe was still an actress. If I remember correctly Chloe was about 35 years old in that episode. That would mean she was 19 years old when her dad died. So she wasn’t exactly a child anymore, but still quite young.
Chloe was about 19 when her father died. It probably hurts her more knowing that Dan died while Trixie was so much younger. At least Chloe got to grow up with her dad, Trixie won’t.
Fucking cried my eyes out, bruh Lucifer first act as God better be raising Dan and making him an angel, a fucking Archangel. Man RIP Detective Dan “Douche” Espinoza, loyal and kind until the very end😢😢

I would not say " my child " but " my true love's child" . He do not concidere himself as Trixie's step-dad. And he realy respect Dan as a dad ( " Dan should be alive")

I think the two things that got me the most in this scene were the "my dear, sweet child" from lucifer to Trixie, and how Linda covered her mouth when she saw Trixie enter, almost to say "oh no"

The acting in this scene is phenomenal. Every single person in this scene kills it. I think what gets me most upon re-watching it is the fact that u can literally see the moment where every actor stops crying for themselves and instead cries for Trixie.
When the camera is on Lucifer right as Trixie walks in asking where her dad is, u see the shift on his face. As a viewer, we watch the moment where it dawns on him that Trixie’s whole life is about to fall apart. Then when Chloe turns around - I mean, her face conveys everything. Terror, grief, devastation, and this dread that u know she will be feeling because she needs to tell her own daughter that her father is dead, a pain she knows so well herself. Then again with Maze when it cuts to her and u see her saying something like ‘no’ to herself because it was awful enough losing Dan, but everyone in the room recognises that it’s almost more painful to know that such an amazing, young girl that everyone cares for so much has lost her dad. Even Linda covering her mouth with her hand in shock conveys so much. It’s like it hadn’t crossed anyone’s minds properly until Trixie walked into the room.
Amazing acting all around. Of course Trixie herself was brilliant too, for such a young actress she handled the maturity and gravity of this scene so well. Props to the cast and crew
This is without a doubt the absolute saddest scene in the entire show 😭😭😭 I don't think I cried this much when Lucifer told Chloe goodbye before returning to Hell

What is even more horrible for Chloe is that she already know the feeling of loosing a father at a young age, and now her daughter will live the same experience as her.
Omg Maze holding on and trying not to cry when Trixie tells her not to because it's all OK and Chloe just collapsing in the background when Trixie asks Lucifer to tell her it's not true and he just can't... This scene broke me, the cast is so good.

I never got over remiels dans charlottes uriel death ever.
I’m an ER Nurse and I’ve had to go with a doctor and grief counseling to tell someone that a loved one died. It’s so, so hard and in my 12 years as a nurse, doing it the 100th time is just as hard as it was the 1st.
I’ve seen raw emotion and I want to say that this scene is as close to that as I have ever gotten from a film or show. They absolutely nailed this scene.
When I watched that scene I cried my eyes out.. I really enjoyed seeing Dan in the series not only because he is interesting but also the fact that he is a very developed character in this series.
This scene literally broke my heart but especially the one when Dan passes away in Chloe`s arms... RIP Dan Espinoza.
I don't know if he was quite dead in the moment in Chloe's arms since the nurse didn't come out and declare his death until they were all already at the hospital, which shows that they must've been there for a little bit, but ik that was the last time he was conscious, after that the body was just trying so hard to survive. Still, it was so heartbreaking but special that she got to hold him as he said his last words

Seeing this again was almost as fresh as the first time. Not only did Maze and Chloe choke me up, seeing Trixie had me in tears. My boyfriend died suddenly almost 3 years ago and he has a daughter who was Trixie's age when he passed. Seeing Trixie's anguish reminded me of my late boyfriend's daughter and what she must've gone through when she learned her papa died. A sudden death can be more devastating than one that was expected. Amazing acting here.
How many tears can you cry? That scene showed me that A LOT. And the way Lucifer spoke to Trixie, sweet jesus, that hit me so hard.
This is one of the saddest scenes of the entire series.
When Chloe finds out that Dan has died and starts to break down and cry.. the way Lucifer is looking at her with tears in his eyes because his heart is breaking for her.
The way Maze weeps breaks my heart because after all, she’s a demon.
And when Trixie said tell me it’s not true Lucifer I know you never lie, Chloe grips her heart and goes down to the floor.

The second Trixie walked in fucking broke me. It’s one thing to see adults lose a friend/loved one. It’s something else to see a child lose a parent.
When he said "My dear sweet child", you can tell how much he has come to care for Trixie. In the first few seasons he said how much he despised children, but now he has come to value her deeply. I love the character development in this show!
Being a father and hearing a daughter cry she wants her daddy knowing he can't come is a straight punch to the heart
Maze crying( she definitely has a soul)..
My theory is that all the demons did but she was the first to want it. To feel feelings, regardless of how she tried to fight them in the most recent episodes.
@@kylecook7187 i have the same theory. All souls that go to hell are overwhelmed with negative feelings like guilt. So they all suppress everything in order to stop "feeling" the pain from those emotions

I can think of no greater pain than the sight of a child's heart broken or the sight of a parent who has lost a small child. This scene and everyone in it is worthy of every accolade possible for such an amazing performance.
Scene broke my heart. I can see adults cry, i can see an emotional Scene no problem. But let one kid cry about their parent and it just pulls your heart strings

i’ve always loved linda’s reaction when trixie came in like she just looks away and doesn’t want to see this it’s the small things rachael does which makes linda so special
ella doesn’t really have anyone to comfort her but she was such a friend to dan and she’s always there for everyone, it would’ve been nice to see someone comfort her

My dad passed away a few months ago and Daniel really reminded me of him so much so when this happened it was really hard to take I. In the show

The way i literally broke down when watching this scene. I had just lost my dad 2 months prior(we had a rocky relationship but i loved him to death)and seeing trixie's reaction just brought me back to when i first found out he died. I had to close my laptop and take a breather. I also did not accept it. And it took me a while to fully accept my dad's death. And still sometimes i feel like he's just gone on a long trip and will be back soon. Just goes to show you how powerful a scene can be when done right.
One of the very few scenes in any movie or show that actually made me cry. This show is a masterpiece, they know how to draw emotions out and really dig you into it.
Every time I watch this, I cry. The acting is wonderful. Everything is so emotional from the music to the visuals. Just brilliant.
The fact that you had a demon who tortured people for centuries upset and crying over the death of a friend and how it affected his daughter really shows how much that character grew.
I just realized that Lucifer is the only TV show that actually made me cry.

This scene and Caleb’s death were the only scenes I cried at. They were both so amazingly done and the actors did an amazing job acting those scenes out.
I lost my father at a young age like Trixie. When I found out the news, my mother gave me that same look. I turned my grandfather like Trixie to Lucifer, asking what happened, where was my dad. He told me he was gone. I broke down crying and the first thing I said was "I want my daddy". Hearing Trixie say that broke me down so much, I couldn't stop sobbing over this scene. I was not only so sad that Dan died because I loved Dan in the later seasons, but I was so sad because I was exactly Trixie in this moment and it brought back all those painful memories watching this scene 😭😭 the actors did such a fantastic job, Scarlett did such a fantastic job. I really saw myself in her in that moment
I lost my mom when I was 9 in really abrupt circumstances. This scene deeply touched me because it is so accurate. Trixie's reaction is so on point: the denial, the conviction this is a big lie or a nightmare. And the adults reactions were so accurate too: the realization of what it means to her, and feeling helpless because they don't know what to say or do to ease her pain, because no child should have to live through that, and they're all grieving too at the same time. It was a very powerful scene and all the actor were really amazing in it.
I lost my dad at 5 years old and then my mother at 15 years old.
So this scene when trixie came in, I cried so hard.
It's tough losing your parents at a young age trust me I know:/ when my dad died, I kept going in his office and room to look for him bc I was in denial plus you know I was a small child!

I felt this too much, I was holding my dad’s hand while he passed away in an alpine slope. Still shocked about it 4 months after
This scene absolutely killed me, I don’t normally cry for shows but this Show made me cry and especially this episode I just broke down.
When she walked in and said “where’s my Dad” my heart just dropped, made me think how I’d feel if it ever happened to me 😭

We never really knew how much we cared about Dan until this

Jeebus. SO many little details in this broke me.
Linda's pained beginnings of a smile before its announced. She's mentally gearing up to have to help EVERYONE there. But seeing Trixie is what breaks her. She can't do the one thing she does best. And Amenadiel, moving to adopt that protective stance only to stop, as if Linda or Ella stopped him. Doing what he always does, planting himself for the storm. As if he can fight it.
Ella's face just going blank. She's anguished but there is this moment it looks like she just clocks out. Maybe missing Rae.
Maze whispering "No." Having to face her trauma surrounding losing her mother and watch as she finally cannot protect this human girl she loves more than anybody from a similar agony. Chloe just collapsing into the floor, breaking the very moment Trixie isn't looking, but fighting to look stronger for Trix.
And Lucifer. Just the defeat after he can't tell her it's all ok, he can't even comfort her by letting her know her father is in heaven.
This episode is truly the most emotional and was done so damn well. Scarlett is an amazing actress and you can truly feel Trixie's pain in this scene. I also love how they show Lucifer's growth by how he addresses Trixie. This episode made me weep like a baby for a character who I didn't really care much about in the first couple of seasons. (Side note - I grew to love Dan's character eventually. He temporarily reverted to douchiness after Charlotte, but he bounced back strong.)
For some reason, it only hit me that Dan was dead when Lucifer said “My dear, sweet child.”
The entire second half of the episode ripped my heart out of my chest, but the moment that wrecked me most of all was when I saw the Chloe's reaction to Trixie's begging of Lucifer to tell her that her father isn't dead, because Lucifer never lies to her.....😭😭😭

"My dear sweet child. I can't." That delivery. And his face when Chloe was begging him before that. Tom is just brilliant. Honest question though. Whatever happened to the healing powers of angel feathers? We had two archangels in the room, one who can (maybe?) slow time. Why couldn't they do anything?
I was wondering the same thing, but that question could also be asked about Linda in season 3. Why did she need a hospital when she had angels on her side? One option is that it could be something about who it is. Can a human be healed? If not, why? Are angels and humans that different? Another one is that it could have something to do with the origin of the injuries. We’ve seen these powers being used to treat a wound made by a demon blade, but Linda was beaten and Dan got shot. Could be something there? At the same time… the fact that demon blades can actually harm angels would suggest that they are more dangerous. Why would “simpler” injuries not be healed then? I’ve got so many questions, but every explanation I can think of seems to lack something.
I also wonder about Remis feather. Ella has stated that she’s not okay, and that feather does nothing when she touches it. Could be something about faith? Ella tries to rationalise the size of her feather, but then again… she has no physical injuries (that we’re aware of) at that time. Dan was also convinced about his fate. Would that have prevented some effect? I don’t think so, given the powers a set of wings can have on non-believers in the show. This leads me back to the angel/human-thing. Were they unable to help him with the feathers due to some rule or a species-thing? It sorta would make sense that a rule would have prevented them from healing him, especially as there were medics at the scene when Chloe called for help. Helping could have exposed divinity to the medics and the surgeons.
Idk, there’s a lot of options. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see if some explanation is given. Guesswork doesn’t really solve this riddle 😅

Lucifer also didn't have his wings at the time of Linda's injuries. He didn't get them back until shortly after he sent the goddess through the portal.

the fact he called her "My dear sweet child" shows how much he gas grown to be a huge part of her life and yes given he's an ass, he really genuinely cares about her feelings and it toor him apart to say he can't cause while Lucifer doesn't say the whole truth he hasn't lied.
This scene was so impactful!!! Great acting all around! Both Chloe and Trixie lost their dad's in the line of duty 😭😭😭😭
