    Thanks for the video! The drivers are easy to replace, just make sure to pull off all 5 wires connected to them and rotate them 180°. In order to tune the voltage you just have to use a multi meter and screw driver. I set mine to around 800 and that seems to work fine. Also for the heat sinks I just used 3 of the original ones that were on the old driver so that the fan could fit back into the box. Thanks again for the video for $15 the drivers make a huge upgrade

    Finally, an expert who can relate to new users in upgrading; excellent video instruction in a practical user approach. Thank you so much!!

    Adjusting voltage:
    1. While the printer is switched off, unplug your stepper motor,
    2. Measure and set the Vref. Vref should be measured with the motors unplugged.
    3. Then switch off again the printer before plugging back the steppers.
    * DO not plug or unplug the stepper from the board while powered on or you might burn the controllers..
    The stock stepper motor should be Nema17 1.5A max;we should set it to Inom = Irms = 1.06V.

    After the replacement of the drivers with tmc ones, do we need to upgrade firmware or chamge the cable etc.? Oe all we need is to replacement?

    • @weldit321
      @weldit321  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey I did not have to update the firmware but you do need to flip the stepper cables around. I don't know how I left that out of the video massive oversight on my part. I'll see if I can add notes to the video asap! Only thing I had to update firmware for on this printer was the upgraded extruder.

      @@weldit321 I have ordered tmc 2209 ones. Once I received, I will only replace and flip the cables then? Thank you for the video and reply. I really don't like the sound of the fans and drivers... Rest is perfect.

    Nice one ;] Im thinking to swap out the drivers as well and a a fan as its too loud for no reason at all

      Ya its an obnoxious fan. I was glad to find a replacement and a free one at that :D

    Did the Noctua work? It doesn't push as much air as the stock so some people experienced heat creep.

  • @memememe7010
    @memememe7010 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you use the Noctua fan you used on the hotend for both fans you replaced?

    • @weldit321
      @weldit321  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would assume you could but to be safe (with tmc2208) I would go with a slightly higher output fan. You could stick with the noctua just maybe go up a size but stick with the 10mm thickness (it's tight in there)

    Why Any Cubic don't have screens displays for their 3D printers on spare parts sell ?? if you dont do that you will have great trouble.Dont say no body said sleeping beauty

    Does THE tmc 2209 work the same way? Thc

    • @weldit321
      @weldit321  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it does. To my knowledge they are like 2208s with sensorless homing. I do not know however if the firmware on the board supports that feature. But they should work fine :d

    is your power supply fan quiet? A lot of people complain about power supply noise.

    • @weldit321
      @weldit321  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have replaced the power supply fan and it's quieter at idle. But printing is still somewhat loud because of the linear bearings. I have since gotten a cr-10 and an ender 3 that are both much quieter after the same mods. This is a great printer but others are raiser to quiet down.

    So basically the driver swap is really only a swap and voltage adjustment? Nothing more?

    • @weldit321
      @weldit321  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's a very easy upgrade for the printer. But alot of printers have the drivers built on to the board so these being removable makes it even easier.

      @@weldit321 I have a Mega X. I guess there is not too much difference between yours and mine. It might be the same hardware even. Do you know what kind of drivers it has originally?

    • @weldit321
      @weldit321  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Lecsi11 I believe they are the a4988. 16 steps per rotation which is why they are loud. The TMC drivers have something like 250 so it's like rolling a stop sign compared to a tire.
