- Finally got to watch the unaired original pilot, so I thought it would be fun to take a look at the key differences between the two versions ~ the original unaired Charmed pilot (featuring Lori Rom) and the official pilot (featuring Alyssa Milano)!

I wonder if Lori and Shannen would have got along, if Lori stayed in the show and didn’t leave before the show started.
I guess we never know, if they would get along.
Knowing what happened between Alyssa and Shannen, or if the show would ever last long as it did.
We can never know for sure, but it would have been wonderful if they did!
If Lori had stay and Alyssa didn’t replace her, Lori and Shannen may not have a problem with each other.
As hard to be sure, if Lori and Shannen would have. Gotten along and maybe Shannen, wouldn’t be fired and be replaced by Rose.
Which I have nothing against Rose as there’s probably no reason for her, character existed be in the series as the long lost little sister.
@@Sammy.H.Redwood I get it! It's nothing against Rose, it's just that we were introduced to the Power of Three a certain way, so it was definitely an adjustment for the audience when that dynamic changed. If Lori had stayed and she and Shannen had gotten along, the story might have developed more organically.
@@weirdlybeloved Definitely nothing with Rose or again her, I think she is a fine edition in the show. Just saying that there’s no need for her character, in the show as the lost sister or maybe she would.
Maybe it would’ve been different story, if Lori Stayed on the show as Phoebe. Shannon want to be fired and Prue, wouldn’t have to be killed off.

Hmm.. hard to say without knowing more about Lori! She doesn't strike me as the type to play into a feud though, so I feel like she might have been the one that would leave if things became too toxic for her. Especially since Holly and Shannen said in the podcast that they didn't even know Lori had quit the show until they found out she wasn't coming to the TV Guide shoot, so it doesn't really sound like they hung out or spoke outside of work.. in any case, though, it was great to finally see her in the role of Phoebe! 🥰
You have a lovely speaking voice. I’ve been enjoying all these Charmed videos and I was never a fan of the show. I had no idea there was so much drama going on behind the scenes.

The difference between between between Alyssa's Phoebe versus Lori Phoebe Phoebe the incantation was different so Alyssa Phoebe she was read the spell to summon her powers and also she talked about the gods so this is interesting because probably they have the power of the gods because the triquetra it's a symbol of the triple goddess 0:06
What's fascinating, and something I had completely forgotten about until you mentioned Andy being in only one season, is how the sisters' approach to demons evolved throughout the series. Initially, they refrained from killing demons unless directly threatened or if they posed a danger to innocents. But as the seasons progressed, especially after Piper gained the ability to explode demons and the sisters became stronger, their stance shifted dramatically. Piper would blow up demons left, right, and centre, almost on principle alone! Lol.
I remember a particular scene (though I can't recall which episode) where they needed access to a location guarded by demons. They couldn't just teleport in due to a forcefield, so the sisters and Leo confronted the demons at the gate. When one of the demons refused to let them pass, Piper blew up the demon who refused to let them in. She expected retaliation from the other demons, but instead, one of the demons simply stated that was the test lol, opened the door, and let them in.
Then there's the incident with Piper's new-born baby, Wyatt, being kidnapped. Piper's sister entered the demon plane, and Piper and the sisters casually strolled in with Piper casually blowing up demons left and right without breaking a sweat, while the other demons were running scared. Lol. The reason I bring this up is that in the first season, when Andy is tragically killed by a demon working with Chronos, Prue encounters him in the spirit plane. She expresses her intent to seek vengeance on the demon responsible, but Andy challenges her perspective by reminding her that she's not a murderer, even when it comes to demons.
But as the series progresses, we witness a shift in their attitudes towards demon-killing. It's like in "Supernatural," where the brothers initially hesitate to kill demons when they're possessing humans and were visibly upset when they did, but in the later seasons with Ruby's knife, they killed demons left, right, and centre regardless of whether they were in a human host, and didn't feel bad about it. Lol. The Charmed Ones went through a similar evolution. They moved from a stance of reluctance to one of proactive defence to embracing a more aggressive approach to vanquishing demons.
I never really noticed that but you're so right! At first they were light WAHHHH A DEMON?! And then by season 6 they were actively seeking evil out!
And ooooooh, I know the episode you're talking about! It's with the boy who could start fires in season 4! Umm.. it's called.. it's.. Lost and Bound!!
I've never seen Supernatural, but it sounds very interesting! And the girls definitely went through a similar evolution, as you said.. especially Piper, I feel. In the early years, Piper cared so much about everyone that she did everything she could to try and save them, like the little boy in Lost and Bound or Dr. Williams in Astral Monkey, even though he had started just straight-up killing people using their powers.. by season eight, though, Piper turned the reporters into rats because they were on her nerves and was ready to kill Christy the minute she decided Christy was the one the Angel of Destiny referred to as a threat, and it's like.. wow, Piper, when did you lose every bit of your compassion?

Also, yes, that's the episode, thanks for remembering the episode, I could see the scene in mind but couldn't remember the name of the episode.
Firstly, your narration is incredible - your voice is beautiful and captivating, and the little chuckles you sprinkle in add such a great energy to it. Secondly, I had no idea there as an unaired pilot until today, and I totally agree with your thoughts on Phoebe. Alyssa Milano truly embodied that wild, boyfriend-stealing rebel vibe, and no shade to Lori but she didn't quite capture it, and it's also hard for me to imagine anyone else in that role since I grew up with Alyssa.
Thirdly, great analysis between the aired and unaired versions. And I loved how you pointed out Prue's shouldn't be able to close the door with her fingers, since she would develop that power yet. Also the scene where she uses telekinesis to close the door, which became such an iconic moment throughout the series that it was used for the final episode of every season where you would have someone close the door telekinetic whether it was demon or witch, and one point Chris did it after he banished Leo. In season 3x22 it was closed by the demon who killed Prue except he did it less gently lol.

And completely agree! Lori did a good job in the role, but.. it just wasn't the same. I know Constance M. Burge closely based the sisters on her own real-life sisters, and while that is really beautiful and wholesome, it's not exactly the most interesting thing to watch on screen.. I think the show needed a sister that was a bit of a wild card to help balance the drama and supernatural elements, so the rewritten/recast version of the pilot felt like a much better fit!

I think it‘s very sad to think about Lori Rom, I wonder if she ever felt regret seeing the show succeed so much and knowing that she missed out on being part of a legacy this freaking huge.
I mean, she basically had the role in her pocket and the church took it right out of there.
Knowing that I could have been an admired, adored millionaire would steal a lot of life quality from me, personally, but everyone‘s different.
Just imagine missing out on being one of the leads of Charmed and not being able to binge it out of pure boredom and seeing yourself in it all the time 🥲 that‘s probably projection because even god couldn‘t have stopped me from being on that damn show lol.

Same here, I wondering that as well.
Right? I feel so bad for her.. she found the script, memorized her lines, auditioned for the role, landed it, learned her marks, went to makeup, got her costumes, filmed for pilot and probably celebrated when the show actually got picked up.. all for her church to come along tell her she couldn't do it because they didn't approve, so she quit.
That has got to be soul crushing on its own, but considering the fact that I don't think she ever starred in another show that experienced the success that Charmed did.. I hope she's okay.

@@weirdlybeloveddo you know the story of the triple goddess the Celtic mythology that is the true definition of the triquetra is times for the three triple goddess so this is why Phoebe Alyssa's version she was calling upon the the gods the gods because the tricare has some Celtic mythology 0:06

Darryl Morris because I'm not sure if you noticed but majority of the casting of Charmed it was very it was very white Darryl Morris I do not think he was the main character and
his wife Sheila and also including his kids because nothing it says about his kids there was no explanation is family's background he was just a waste him and his wife and Sheila because do not give Daryl Morris his wife Sheila a storyline because John was so white but he doesn't mean just because Charmed majority it was so
white because charm is very white it doesn't mean that the characters were not relatable I could always relate to the characters but I feel like all the characters that were non-white they were not treated well in the show because now thinking about when I watch the series Darryl Morris did not play a big role in their life!? 0:06

Alyssa definitely didn’t look like she was related to Shannon or Holly. The other actress does look more similar to them. Maybe it was Alyssa’s tan that always threw me off.

I wonder if they kept the original actors if Paige would have been introduced and if Prue would have died? It could have been an entirely different show! Something to think about! Oh well still one of my all time favorite shows!
I wonder what would have happened as well! It's too bad Lori Rom doesn't seem to have ever given any interviews about her (short) time on Charmed, it would be really interesting to hear her thoughts!

@@ptolemyclarke I haven't had a chance to watch them yet, but I'm super excited to! I know Billy Drago was interviewed about being on Charmed, so that will definitely be one of the first ones I watch!
I did find a hidden special feature in the season 8 dvd menu that I never noticed before (there's a hidden triquetra on Phoebe's arm and I clicked it out of curiosity) and it was a short featurette on the show's 150th episode, so that was really cool!
When Alyssa Phoebe said “I never touched roger” it rounded off perfectly when Prue said “woah”.
They definitely played the scene well!
I think I've heard that the actress was originally supposed to pay Phoebe her name was Lori Rome but the reason she left the pilot she did not continue is because of her church because I think the Catholic church they are anti-witchcraft so this is why but she was a good actress and she had potential Lori room but was her career a waste because I'm questioning if she would have continued could she even ignore her church I want to listen to her religion faith 0:06

The small sized rose seems all cute and cozy while this one looks.....finished? like in a good way. the artwork is finished with all the thing sout you didn't like. MAybe it's the hight difference here? Like she looks tall and wise and idk i just really like that. On the other hand i still think that you're talented soooooo it could be me beaing a bit biased about it. ANYWAY it looks damn great!

I watched some of it! It was really weird seeing someone else as Willow, but I really should go back and finish it! What did you think of the episode?
@@weirdlybeloved I thought it was decent. The only thing I didn't like was the different actress for Willow. In my opinion she just didn't seem to click with the rest of the cast.
Unlike the original actress for Phoebe in Charmed who I think did a good job.
@@CherylAbbott6486 Definitely agree! I thought maybe it was just because I was so used to seeing Alyson as Willow that it was just too weird to see someone else in her place, but after watching the original Charmed pilot I'm thinking that maybe it really is just because she felt out of place..?
@@weirdlybeloved Yes exactly. I felt the same about the actor who played Andy.
The biggest difference I notice is how Phoebe dresses. She is way more conservative in the original which is so surprising since she is the younger sister. I am so surprised they didn't put Lori in cuter clothes. I also think Lori looked too tall in all the shots with them together.
Agreed! It's also surprising since Phoebe had been living in New York for the last six months.. feels like that would have made her branch out a bit more, you know? 🤔
It’s uncanny seeing unaired pilots, kinda reminds me of the first ‘Full House’ episode without Bob Saget. It’s like you’re waiting for the characters to acknowledge that something is off and they never do 💀

Also, I glad they got rid of the sweater around Prue's neck she look ridiculous. Reminds of the scene in Superman 3 where Christopher Reeves as superman rescues a little boy and is wearing the exact same sweater minus the logo in the same way, in fact it is the same colour. lol. Omigoooosh, I just watched the Superman scene, and you're so right!! I get that it was probably to make the Superman transition a little easier, but with the glasses and the blue tones of his outfit it just doesn't work at all.. at the very least they could have changed the color scheme of his outfit to compliment the sweater.. 🧐

And tell me what did you think about Darryl Morris was his character interesting because I feel like they did not give him a lot of story lines because he was nothing but a cop helping three sisters dealing with evil he was just a cop helper and that is not really explain how he met his wife Sheila and how did they come up with two kids because they had two boys 0:06 so there was never any explanation about Darryl Morris because they did not give him any storyline it turns out he always knew that The Halliwell sisters Huawei chaise but d'Arena Willy date in the series so this this got me questioning why did he get less storyline?! 0:06
Mmm.. tbh, I wasn't that much of a Darryl fan on his own, I just really liked his relationship with Andy and I would have loved to see more of the two of them together! I think they made great partners!
@@weirdlybeloved well here's the true reason why you are not a fan of his because he was not an important character I feel like he was just a story plot and nothing else so Andy he was the love interest of Prue Darryl Morris he was like family to The Charmed ones but it has not been proven and what about his wife Sheila and their two kids because they had two little Boys they just show a small clip of them and I remember Shayla told Daryl to give up on The Charmed ones because it was not his fight so something tells me they had a bond with them but it hasn't been said what was his relationship with the Holliewell Sisters

I watch this alittle bit . But I need to watch the full version. I wish we can see every unaired pilot episodes. Idk if you watch Pll ? But in the unaired pilot version they had a complete different few cast . And we only saw pictures of it. Also I saw Buffy the vampire slayer unaired pilot and that looks so different and I prefer the pilot episode that was aired.

And yeah, I still need to finish the unaired Buffy pilot, but from what little I've seen I definitely prefer the aired version, too. It's just too weird having someone else as Willow.. Alyson was too perfect for the role! 🥰

Sing sing the unheard Charmed pilot it's giving me a Charmed verse vibe it's like it's a different parallel universe in a different multiverse how it was told the story of the Halliwell sisters if the original cast she had stayed this will be a different story and the original actress that was supposed to play Phoebe it seems like she did not continue to be in the TV series because of her church Lori's possibility would have been a great success but probably she chose her church I think they advised her not to be part of this TV series because it talks about witches because Catholics are anti-witchcraft 23:23

@@emilyvi82 They didn't ~ Lori quit the show due to personal conflict (it's been heavily speculated and pretty much confirmed by Holly and Shannen that the conflict was that her church didn't like that she was playing a witch and forced her to quit) but the show had already been picked up, so they scrambled to find a replacement. Aaron Spelling asked Alyssa if she would be interested, and she said yes. 🙂

Ive seen a few videos about the situation with alyssa and shannen apparently Alyssa said to the directors its her or me talking about shannen and directors then said to holly we backed into a corner here so shannen was fired and well charmed is history but alyssa denies it but shannen and Holly say its true
I did a few videos on the subject as well ~ that whole thing is a total mess lol. I just wish they would talk it out with each other instead of dragging each other on social media.

@@krystalgorman86 Actually, Alyssa said she was game to sit down and discuss things, it's the other three who seem to be unwilling. And tbh, I've kind of noticed that pattern with Shannen in regards to her podcast - she keeps inviting people on and talking about her feuds, but it's never with the person she had the actual problem with.. Alyssa, Jennie, etc.
Seems to me that the fair (and adult) thing to do would be to let the other person tell their side of the story as well, but she doesn't seem to want that.
