- For as much as I want Throne & Liberty to work out, i am very concerned and for as good as some aspects of the game may be, things are looking mighty grim for this new MMO. What's going on with Throne & Liberty, and does it have any hope?

This is why no other MMORPGs can interest me besides Guild Wars 2. GW2 Is just awesome due to the fact that it has no gear grind. Play now, get gears, and even you take a break for years, you can come back just as strong and relevant as the day you left.

I quit playing lost ark because of the boting, I found myself having to wait in queue just to play because the servers where full of bots... So I think i'll just pass on this game too.
this game solved the botting problem using AI. ofc he's not gonna mention that in the video. he's delusional and knows nothing about the game. misleading videos all over the internet.

Unless someone in Korea does a paid sub MMO like the original TERA, I feel these games will always be P2W due to thier culture of the rich having higher prestige. Most other countries design around power fantasy escapism where even a poor and/or crippled child can become a great warrior in the virtual world(i.e. Ready Player One).
Guild Wars 2 , I played it and actually I enjoy it a lot but the game is dated that I couldnt get into it by myself. I honestly met a couple good people in the game too. Taught me the basic and showed me what to do the time I was playing it. Its not a bad game and the community is welcoming. Time gated, pay 2 win, running daily and DG? , Seems like its Lost Ark all over again.

If they JUST do a box price/sub model with no p2w, maybe just cosmetics.. they'd probably do great. I would easily play if that was the case.

Biggest concern: Big guilds. The bonuses that come with a max guild make it impossible for small guilds to survive/compete.
Second biggest concern: Forced PVP for zones/world bosses, etc. It's not a popular mechanic globally. If that didn't work in Korea, it seems like a huge red flag against suddenly being financially viable globally.
I used to watch your videos on the daily and this upload really upsets me, you're giving out information that was relevant before the korean release. not only have seen this exact same video multiple times in your channel. This "Information" that you are very "CONCERNED" about, it's information that has been changed and modified and not even true anymore and you are only putting the effort of all the people behind this project at risk with these types of videos, as a person who as been playing and keeping up with actual data from people playing in the korean version and dev vlogs if you're are really concerned about TL I suggest you to stop making videos about it and don't be spreading misinformation. :/
I play korean version. It's 100% pay to win. All those systems are in place. Game is still fun.

@flyalv I live in korea. Playing the same game. Can buy gems to upgrade books etc right? Can buy player items from AH using real money? What's outdated? I totally love playing the game and have no problems with those types of systems. Just saying there is a massive pay to advance in the game. You can't deny that tho. To me it's not a problem. @@aaronleader3046 you are wrong in so many aspects, yes you can buy gems to craft skill books so what? what about the other materials? and if you want to buy gems its really expensive to max out a full tree of a weapon. The game vertical progression gives you enough books to max out 2 weapons skill tree that you would use, there's no need to max out every single weapon if you can only use 2. You said 100% pay2win and now you say pay to advance? there is a clearly crystal clear difference between those 2 I'm not saying is not pay2fast that would be the correct term (because at the end there's a limit of gear and sooner or later everyone that is putting decent hours to this game will get there) but is not pay2win and idgaf if you live in korea or china or taiwan. Guild Wars 2 is still going strong. Absolutely fantastic game. It's what MMORPG's should strive for. I hope GW3 will be even more incredible.
Idea: let the game come out and let people formulate their own experiences rather than using your viewer base to dump on it before if releases. Grow up.
The static boring combat with limited skill set will be this games downfall, Black desert showed how successful a p2w mmo can be if it has good combat and good graphics!

TL is destined for a big flop. Leveling and exploring the world was interesting at first, mainly due to the gorgeous graphics, but the endgame was boring as hell, even as a member of a major guild. The game's main focus is large-scale PvP, which becomes tedious very quickly. The story is nonexistent, the combat is mediocre, the game is pay-to-win, and there's a lack of gear visual variety. Discord coordination is mandatory for large-scale PvP and PvE, hardcore guilds dominate the servers, and there's a lack of professions or any other forms of horizontal progression.

90% of this video is the same thing he said in all of his other videos about throne and liberty and then just adds something at the end thats actualy relevant to the title of the video. After few videos i realised he keeps doing this with majority of his vids and i stopped watching him completely
I thought I was the only one who thought that. I'm like, we already knew this like 4 months ago. It's like he is re-incinerating the discontent about this game. I follow some twitch users that play this game, and they all say the game isn't that bad and the majority of the complaints is about NCsoft, not the game. In fact, they say NCsoft is still working hard on this game. New weapon and areas are going to be released and they are going to adjust the combat even more.

Time gated content is an instant no for me. I'd rather pay a sub and play 1000 dungeons in a month than be limited by the developer to sell cash shop garbage.
My favorite part of any MMO, whether in the new player rush new or revisiting years later, is always the leveling. At this point in my life, I have zero desire to be part of organized raiding and/or large scale PVP. I just want to have a good time existing in and exploring a virtual world. Not treat it like a second job.
Sadly, with the exception of a few games, horizontal progression such as professions and other alt systems seem to be largely ignored or require mats that can only be acquired by, you guessed it, raiding and large scale PVP.
It is what it is though. I have found plenty of solace in SP and coop games. So, its not that big of a deal. Its just sad to see a genre with so much promise churn out nickel and dime'ing theme parks non-stop.
yea, i feel it same, most fun is when you see how your character getting stronger,kill mobs easier ect. Dungs and raids is fun but usualy play only with randoms and iam okay with that :)
You're right that there are too many theme park mmo's, but you've got it backwards. They all cater entirely to the single player experience. FFXIV is probably the most egregious example. There needs to be more incentive for community and cooperation.

Pay2win is not a big issue. It's too expensive to gain a lasting advantage and many free2play people are just as geared with only slightly more effort.
As someone that followed TL from the start and I'm loving the game I can say that's the best and honest review out there. NC need to listen or it will flop to west also with the p2w. Everyone on west its fine with the sub fees and cosmetics on a free-to-play game but when it comes to p2w/progress nah(personally would love to see TL on a buy to play as 20-50 euro packs +sub fee for/and cosmetics. I also give that price and hope people can reflect on my next words = ""pax-day for example its just again greedy practice again for a half-assed game released as d4 and a lot more with only 1 feature working and a TL its a fully designed game(as features) and deserve more but still i give that low amount imagine how i price the other 2 :D"". About that bot stuff that was kinda of addressed to a certain point by NC but Force forgot to mention I guess about it(afcourse more to be desired on that front but was a good start). Sorry for long massage but i feel involved at TL story and frustrated at all AAA greedy practices at games today and had to give an opinion.

I LOVE it actually because as long Lineage II fan I've been in not 1 alliance drama but thousends and i love the drama and everything about the game as features becouse it gives you freedom of choice and not mindless dungeon expiriance(don't mind it but open world with pvp everywhere is way more fun and still TL have best of both). My post was more like to say that all the AAA titles that are released are half-assed games that are not even ready for release and still want your money and that's not OK. My opinion it is that TL its just feature-ready and concept-ready for full game release and deserve money just not the way they want to get them becouse they will alienate the ppl and will be a flop. TL deserve more appriciation than a huge chunk of new mmo's that are actually half-assed made MSO(massive singleplayer games) and had to just be move to different section altogether.

And at the end of the day you can buy top tier but to make that armor or weapon strong you need the traits and traits are very expensive in this game, you gonna have to spent a lot but a lot of money just to get one trait

i played the Kr version of TL, It was fun Until they released the T2 gear, and from there NCsoft is fucking up the Development of the game, without knowing what kind of direction they want to go,
Ive seen smallscale and Mass PVP, Guild diplomacy, Alliances, Won Sieges and most of the content, But stopped playing and im not sure if i want to come back when Global Releases, Unless NcSoft makes a 360 into a game actual worth playing

One of the worst feeling combat systems ever. Its clunky, janky, cumbersome and feels like it belongs back in 2001.
This game feels like it was originally intended to be a mobile / gacha game that was redesigned mid way through to be a MMORPG...
The graphics, whilst nice, certainly are not next gen and something like those of Archeage released in 2013.
I gave it a shot but couldn't get past 6 hours worth of play.. Horrible and bitterly disappointing.. I expect this game to DIE as fast, if not faster, than Bless Online.
The game was pretty good when i played it, it was actually really fun, id say the combat was a good blend of ff14 and more modern games.
Its definitely not action based but it feels a lot more interesting than you'd expect

The P2W was never an issue in this game. .it's team balancing and No New Servers for New Players or for Migrants..so Older Players have way more Loot and skills are way more upgraded.. game was still playable and enjoyable but don't think you're coming in after the servers been out for 5-6 months and think you're about to contend for PvP and destroy.. 99.9% of the bots are all gone.. developed well but need that circle of Life attention.. New Players are playing a totally different game than the people who started a fresh server. If they balance that out the game's perfect 88/100

Since the betas and also after release actually, they made the grind easier, and the game is "light" p2w anyway, in comparison to other titles of the genre ! Some great suggestions there to make the game better, but many of them would cut in to the game revenue. As for the guild ranking thing, maybe just limit activity to a max of 2h/day per member for the full bonus.
Game has zero problems. no p2w. no bots. tons of content. amazing combat. amazing pve. amazing pvp. Just Amazon.

I'm not much into mmorpgs, but why is faster progression considered p2w? Are we talking about being temporarily advantaged in pvp arenas? Or is the peak pve content so hard only whales and no-lifers can try to complete it? If I'm looking for an mmorpg to casually play and chill in, is the p2w aspect going to ruin or limit my experience?

From what I'm hearing from reviews like this and from friends who are trying to get me to play, there isn't much pve content in endgame. The focus is pretty much large-scale pvp, the few dungeons are solely for the purpose of grinding to gear up for pvp, and if you aren't a whale or in a whale-filled guild you're going to get stomped constantly. Paying for gear upgrades and things like dungeon access can set someone's progression forward by several months. Which is technically temporary... but those months of no-lifeing are not going to be very fun for ftp players.
Also a note about the dungeon access- you only get to run two times per day, unless you pay. Then you get to run 9 times. I'm no mathematician but seems like a week of paying for dungeon access alone would set you ahead of a strictly ftp account by 35 runs, which would be like 2 and half weeks' worth of time gating for the ftp account.
Edit to add: I'm downloading it now to do the free trial over the weekend. My favorite parts of MMORPG's are character creation and exploring the world during level-up, so at least it'll be an enjoyable couple of days for me :p

I noticed you showed Kanon in your video and he has a video speaking about the pay to win in Throne & Liberty, and it’s fair to point out his guild is free to play but dominating his server. The pay to win might not play as much of a factor as people believe
He clan wasn't f2p and everybody was also botting 24/7.
If you played in the KR servers, his clan and alliance was not f2p lol, his clap and the MP/HP alliance were massive whales and also botters, along with the blue alliance. Don't take Kanons words at face value, the guy was promoting Lost ark as well until that went sideways

Just to correct some misinformation in this video. The game definitely has P2W aspects. It's the same as pretty much all MMOs on the market where you can swipe for the market currency from G2G. So it's either you buy the currency from the game or you use G2G similar to most MMOs out atm. Not saying this is good, just making this clarification.
Another thing, the gems you can buy from auction does not mean you get more skill books. The other material you need to craft the books are only obtainable through events in-game which you can't swipe for and have to participate in youself. So no one swipes for gems to make skill books cus you get 100s everyday just from participating in events. It's pretty dumb to swipe for that.
When it comes to dungeon tokens, you can get 100s as well just from in-game free content which is opening chests on Sara island during the night. You can get anywhere from 300-900+ (1000s if you get them all with a small group) every night cycle which is every 2 hours. So lots of opportunities to get a ton of additional dungeon tokens.
As someone who has been free to play, and have 10-15 friends in my guild who are also all free to play. We're all top 100 PvP rankings on the servers we played on that have 1000s of concurrent players. So this goes to show you don't have to swipe to compete at all. I've personally sold items from dungeons to make over 20,000 lucent in-game as well. Not much effort to do this, I just sold what I got from dungeons to buy what I needed to gear.
So I hope this helps clarify some of the misinformation from this content creator who seems to be speaking from not his own personal experience.
One last thing, there is a really cool AI bot detector in the form of a gigantic skeletal knight that kills botters in-game and bans them after three deaths. It can use improvements as bot/cheat programs evolve, but NC has been doing well in improving the AI detector and keeps us updated. They're very good with communicating with the player base and care about our feedback, which is why they've made a lot of fast and big changes since the game launched.

I don’t actually care when James sells boosters that allow you to speed up your progression but when the game then put in time gating or our pay wall where you can’t progress without paying money, that’s a dealbreaker for me so liberty is never going to be my game if that’s the monetization method they use in the states when they release it. I was all looking forward to this game because it does have some innovative shit in it, but I will not, be halted by progression time dating or pay to win tactics that are just a solution to a problem they created with progression dating of some sort fuck them if you just make the progression slower and the same for everybody and then those money can buy a booster that speeds it up. I don’t have a problem with that, but if I’m playing the game and I’m not progressing because I’ve hit that progression date, then fuck them that’s a game you wanted to play like a mobile game put it on a phone I’m not gonna do that on my console or a PC
Remember everyone, this is only disappointing if you bought into any kind of hype for the game. Instead of creating unrealistic expectations, just wait until the product/game launches and judge it for what it is at that time. You should NEVER buy into something (even mentally) until that something proves its worth to you.

Idk abt that. Bdo been going for 11-12 years now. Lost ark for abt 8-9yrs. Not long compared to WoW but tbh anything over 4-5 years i consider quite a lengthy success

@@jorgealonso9792 I don't really feel that the genre is dying, but i do feel, just like with the strategy genre we get too many games that heavily miss the mark, and at some point ppl will be done with them. This happened with strategy games. We had a lot of good ones, but the big companies started to change the formulas, witch nobody wanted, and eventually ppl stop bothering with them. Nowadays we do get a decent amount of strategy games, but they are mostly indie games, and they have become a lot more niche then back then, so it's more a hit or miss of what ppl like.
Also some companies refuse to make new entries in certain franchises (like Warcraft and StarCraft).
I also feel this is about to happen with the live-service model. I think this will be the first to fall, especially since companies think this is the best invention ever (since it brings them lots of money), but if all we are getting is crap, then eventually ppl will stop buy/play them.

Doesn't really make sense for the company to pay him to say any of that.
@@xelnia2383 I don't know how up to date is the video tho since part of the issues he brought up about bot has been getting addressed and greatly decreased but he didn't mention anything about it. It's not 100% bot free but it's not this serious, huge problem that made it out to be. The P2w will never go away because NC wants those bills and Lucent Market makes absolutely no sense if bots were their excuse to introduce such system since they working on removing them.

@@gamingtemplar9893 it's not the same thing at all.... BDO Mobile and BDO are completely separate games with no cross pollination. T&L was originally a mobile game first PC MMO second with cross play. That is until the director that just left made the decision to focus on the PC aspect.

Kind reminder that Guild wars 2 has ALL those activities and more, basegame is FREE its on steam and standalone launcher and the game has been around for more than 10 years, theres a good amount of playerbase and a new expa is coming up on november 20.

Amazon doesn't make Throne and Liberty. They are just publishing. While they can provide feedback to NcSoft they don't really have huge control over the game

I'm not surprised since I looked at their website and seen their Early Access packages. That and I play a lot of GW2, and as much as I love it, I have to admit most of the shop isn't just about making your character look or act goofy. Also, I love how the graphics are dated...when most MMOs look like they dropped during the 90's.
That said, I actually appreciate this because I was considering trying it out. However, if it's going to be this P2W, then I need to look at another replacement for ESO.

I had Blast in CB and the game significantly different (for the better) from KR version. Only thing i did not like that it is so focused on pvp. Thing is you cany make money long term in pvp endgame as its a 1% of general mmo player base total. There is no successful 100% pvp mmo out there,
I know this is probably drug out for content because absolutely everyone had to have seen this coming… just like first decendant, and all these other shit looking games getting coverage as hopeful even though they aren’t even close.
The difference is that The First Descendant is actually a fun game.

How is this any different than Black Desert or Guild Wars 2? You can cash shop your way through GW2, and BD is super P2W - both very successful MMOs even today.

its real simple: if they go the lost ark route - they can expect AT MOST what the current average of non-bot players in lost ark are.
i hope they don't just port that bullshit - just charge a monthly sub for access to ah and stop fooken nicklediming us - not to mention that if u limit trading of any kind to owners of monthly pass and make the pass unobtainable in any other way than directly from you as the publisher/developer - you will heavily limit botting and be able to pinpoint botters with more ease.
I don't care about P2W. Know why? Because there would still be a power discrepancy between a group of players: The no-lifers and the average player. The only difference is that the P2W aspect gives the average players a means to keep up with the people who will no-lífe, min-max, and be stronger than you anyway. I choose to just not engage in P2W, I play casually, and if you're stronger than me then whatever. I'll care about losing when I get to a progression point where I feel like I should be competitive. How much PvE can I enjoy along the way? That's all I care about.
Sounds like an easy fix for when it comes to the "west". Remove buying of gear, period. Only cosmetics. Don't give people the option. We know people at least in the "west" people hate p2w, it would be unwise to lean into it.
