Glad to say I will be 59 and I will go to my first concert in October this year to see the absolutely superb deacon blue .. Like so many have said ... Very very underrated... Why is this band so massively underrated after all these years. I first saw these at St George's Hall when I was 14 and still go to their concerts now 34 years later. I absolutely love them 💕

It is one of my favourite albums of all time. I spent the summer of 1987 listening to it and have never stopped. A truly great album followed by the also excellent When the world knows your name in 1989.
If I had to choose between "Raintown" and "When The World Knows Your Name", it would be Raintown. In my opinion, When The World didn't really sound like Deacon Blue. A lot of that was down to the record company and their choice of producers, which I don't think the band were that happy about. Of course the record company were just thinking about maximising album sales. I much prefer listening to When The World... tracks live.
Deacon Blue absolutely brilliant. Gutted never, yet seeing them live. Always had a thing for Loraine. She exuded a natural sensuality. And her voice is incredible.

Raintown was THE album when I was going for my running exercises when I played hockey in the national youth team. I lost sense of time and space and it got me in a flow each time I pushed the button of my then cool portable CD player :-). Got me to the idea to use this song as my anchoring song to get in this state whenever I want to. "Born in a storm" pulled me always away from this planet and when "Raintown" kicked in, I took off and increased my pace without noticing it .... To be listened as a full album, should be prohibited to listen to each song individually ;-)

I have watched a lot of music videos during the lockdown and this is right up there, quality top class live performance. I now play this and Loaded every day and I just can't stop smiling looking back at a great time in my life.
Very underrated, the songwriting was crafted very intelligently and sang with a soul and sincerity that is severely lacking in today's world of processed packaged songs.
