I will try to plant sunflower.thank you for sharing.Kee> safe.
i have planted some sunflowers seeds and i want to know how many days or weeks they start growing?
I was wondering where all those sunflowers in my backyard came from last year and it was from the the birds and probably squirrels eating from the feeder! I didn't know the seeds were viable! Guess they were, a lot! Cheap at one dollar per pound at the dollar store too!
I like the multi-headed variant seen in the video but I hope to grow one of each type if I have the space and time this year.
Thank you for your comment!
Thanks, glad it helped you figure out one more thing in life!
Hi. Please can you help. I'm a novice gardener and I've planted some sunflowers which now have wilted leaves. What did I do wrong, can I bring them back to life or do I have to start again. Thanks for your help
Your plant is either in a hot spot and needs more water and/or may be in poor soil and needs some nutrient aka miracle grow or both. Thank you for your interest and best wishes to you & your garden!
@@oharanetworks Thank you
You sound like Kit from Knight Rider!
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed. Is he cool?
khadijaejaz wow he does!!! Lol so cool!
They are beautiful and so big 🌻🐝
Is it okay to put Sunflowers inside the room? I mean I’m leaving in an apartment that I why I cant plant it outside but I placed it on my window and the Leaves are curling up. Do I need to put fertilizer on it?
based on my experience sunflower needs the most sun. if that place is receiving enough sunlight, then you may. #just sharing.
The presence of sunflowers in a garden or even in landscape are visually inviting. Aside from it's beautiful addition, I strongly believe that these sunflowers could benefit the pollination process of your other plants too. I am so happy while enjoying the thoughts of this beautiful existence.
Garden Sheds Devon Sunflowers have such attractive colors which always attract the pollinators ! Thank you for watching and I'm happy you enjoyed my video!
Hey! I love your video! Its so neat how God designed birds to help garden the earth for us! I'm growing sunflowers for the first time this year, and I have a few questions. If you get a chance, maybe you could watch my video and help me out with it? Thanks!
Growing Mammoth Sunflowers- Question for my Viewers
hisnherhomestead It should not matter how close they are, They are a very hardy plant. If you like them in neat rows, then of course you could transplant them, if they are under 1 foot tall and have not been in the ground for more than 3 weeks. Thank you for watching and I'm happy you enjoyed my videos!
I have some sunflowers growing now and they are about 6 inches tall but they are kind of bending over.( I am in Ga and the weather has been nice) Should I stake them somehow?
Hello. My surname is actually Gardner. I've got about 70 sunflower seedlings growing at the moment. I grow minatures up to giants and everything in between in pots and window boxes etc etc. We have got very bad weather in the UK at the moment so they are not growing as fast as I would like and most of them are indoors tucked up in warm propagators :-)
Can i use any Type of Soil??
Cuz my Soil is fat and wet and Color
Brown
ser .....how ...... the synflower big head ... how ser... i want to learn to tall sunflower and to big heads ... ser.... this video i rate 100% star..... i love it this video
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed. Look for the JUMBO seed stock at your local nursery.
I planted sunflowers and the bees didn't pollinate my melons and they're planted right next to them
I have two popped up in my garden, one single head and one multiple heads.... I had never seen multiple heads before, so that kind of worried me and caused me to snip off all those lower ones :) This one looks like it carry a bunch without any problem.

What variety of sunflower is that. That's a huge flower but not that tall... I think it's cute
My sunflower's stem is turning brown, is that okey?
This guy deserves more likes👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
lets put this in recommendation after 10 years ago😀
How do you keep your leaves so green? My leaves are getting brown spots on them and then the leaves turn yellow and I just pull them off.
the jays love to plant peanuts also!
Hello Patrick from England. Please can you tell me what the multi-headed variety of sunflower is called? I`ve never seen any of them before. Thanks for sharing the video.
Hello Martin Dennis, I believe it is a Hybrid from Burpee Seeds: either a Del Sol or Pristine. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
Patrick,
Where do you buy your black oil sunflower seeds? What brand are they? Some brands are irradiated or rendered unable to grow. I feed birds too, and want to get the brand you get. Thanks!
I bought the bird seed at my local grocery store. Don't remember the brand. Good luck!
ps: I would think if a person had 10 acre's he could produce enough sunflower's to make enough cooking oil and seed's for eating and flower shop's, that he might just get by on the rent and such . And there can be (diversification) by growing roses, orchid's, and even food plant's like pumpkin's all strategically mixed together on that 10 acres.
thanks for sharing
ok thanks but have seen some kind of worm and thinking most of my seeds are bad ..so i started growing new ones
anthony marasco It's pretty easy to see if your seeds are bad, just squeeze them and if they don't collapse, there is an actual seed inside the shell. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy my videos!
Hi sir i need some seed ple sir tell me how can i buy
1:21... I'm sure that's the "Multi-Pod' species I have. I got 17 of these sunflower's, one has 3 pod's on it! I mixed tomato and pepper plant's to give splash of color's in my oramental mini-garden.

l forget to say I live in mallorca Spain
This was so helpful I am just beginning to garden so with your advice I will be planting sunflowers. But how do I keep the bees from coming near me? Do I just wait for them to leave?
would you know why these jewel of japenese beatles love my sunflowers? are they harmful to my seeds? i see them burrowing in the head of the plant.and now i have some kind of worm also growing in side the seeded area
Like
They mainly will defoliate the leave on our raspberries. I've not seen them spread the diseases like the striped beetles.
anthony marasco The sunflower beetle zygogramma exclamationis feeds only on sunflower. The beetle can be confused with the Colorado potato beetle. The sunflower beetle is smaller, ¼ to ½ inch long, and characterized by three distinct dark stripes. The larvae have a unique 'humpbacked' appearance. Pest management in sunflower plants involves prevention. Keeping the area free of weeds and debris can help. Damage can also be reduced by treating the area before sunflower pests become well established. Later planting, such as in June or July, may also help alleviate any problems. While there are many broad spectrum insecticides available for sunflower use, organic insecticides, which are deemed safer, can be used as well. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy my videos!
cool sac. in the rio linda area i notice the grass dries out so fast is there some sorta combo seed mix with mostly native cali grasses i could use to change that? also if i mob feed ... there by "watering" the grass will it last longer. might be worth it to get something like chickens or lambs. Also in riolinda .. the rice fields do you know if they spray presides or herbicides or any sides? how far does that stuff fly?
note to self... ware all black to avoid bees lol.
I just got some Mammoth Russian, Dwarf, and Autumn sunflowers to plant. however when i got the seeds i didnt see the print saying Mammoth Russian so it looks like the seeds might be used sparingly. do you know if Sunflowers like Western Washington weather? do they dislike a mild salty breeze?
my sunflower has dropped over and the leaves have folded in i dont know why, i water and feed always can u help me please
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed. You may need more nitrogen to strengthen your stalk or you may have a pest.
Amazing. 🐦 🌻
That was interesting, I didn't know birds would deliberately do that with seeds.
Can you plant sunflowers next to grass plants without the sunflower seeds killing the grass plants.
I purchased,a helianthus sunflower, it has about 5 heads and WAS beautiful, I was going to put it in the ground after about a month. I've,had it about 1 week and had,it sitting in the direct sun, watered it everyday and it has gradually been looking like it's firing, should I go ahead and put it in the ground?
Hey does any one know what the heck is eating my sunflowers? I dont mean the seeds, I mean completely cutting the heads off like a chainsaw. I thought maybe weevils, but Ive not seen any. Could it be squirrels? The heads are nowhere to be found after theyve been sawed off. I thought too that at first it was a person fooling around but I dont think thats it. How to keep the critters from cutting the heads off.
also in that area with all that dry brush. can heavy mulch turn into a fire hazard sorry your the first person in my area ive run into gardening :) everyone i know just does normal flowers no food stuff
from pvz
This is true but my young gardening son of 8 years old once had a 114 inch tall plant that needed support because the stalk was starting to break and it wasn't ready to be harvested. I used a branch and garden tape to reinforce it.
I have planted sunflowers in pots. The stems have grown about 3 to 4 feet but I have no flowers only stems and leaves. What am I doing wrong????
First let me say thanks for the video. I learned so much from your video. Im down south. It gets really hot here and sunny. Often it's over 90 degrees. Would you suggest watering daily or ever other day? I had also heard that adding coffee grounds will be a good food for them.
By the way: your link in the description has to much h t t p it doesn't work!
I've been planting gobs of sunflower seeds just to find out that I have roly polies and slugs who are very appreciative of my efforts. I haven't studied up on how to deal with these pests. This spring, my strategy has changed with planting Sunflower seeds in my untamed garden. I plant the seeds in a spot with viable soil, and then place the top half of a water bottle, the half with the cap, and use it as a micro-greenhouse. The theory being that the hole at the top vents the hot air, and allows for convenient watering, as letting seeds dry out is fatal for the seeds. I place a small rock in the hole of the water bottle to weigh it down against the wind. Next year, maybe I'll do something about these slugs and roly polies. Also, I'll learn to start seeds indoors.
@oharanetworks oh wow i been watering like ever other day. maybe that why mine are getting brownish spots on the leafs.
this is great, sunflower got a lot of flower nice garden sir
Thank you!

You've got a nice big garden - mine is about 4sq ft :-/
What kind of sunflower is the first one?
Oh nice! So that's why I get sunflower growing in my compost!
More of a show and tell video.. not 1 tip
your video is very helpful please make more
Just wondering if you stake your plants? Mine are grown from seed indoors and will be transplanted today. Normally not so windy here but has been very windy lately, what is a good way to stake them as they grow? (This is my first attempt growing sunflowers...they are Mammoth and a smaller variety). Thanks for the useful info on the video.
Genspi Personally, I do not stake my sunflowers as they need to develop the cells in their stalk to withstand the size of the flower on top. Thank you for watching and I'm happy you enjoyed my video!
Great vid! Thanks for taking your time out to make this. I am going to try some mammoth sunflowers this summer.
Nice garden. May i know the variety of the dwarf sunflower with giant flowerhead. Sorry im just a beginner. Thank you
THANK YOU Burpee brand mammoth or kong
what do you do as a job or do you live off your own resources that you grow
I own a home brew store in Auburn, CA
Is it okay if I plant sunflower seeds 5 inches beside another seed? Give me tips please I'm only a beginner :)
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed. Jumbo Sunflowers need at least 2 feet apart so none will be covered by another and not get enough sun.
I'm growing mammoth sunflowers. First time. Subbed.
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed.
I got a lot of seeds
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed. Nice job, take them out of the head, put them in salt water for a few minutes then roast them on a cookie sheet... yum!
D'ya think sasquatch likes sunflowers, patrick?
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed. I'm sure Sasquatch LOVES sunflowers... he most likely follows the bees back to their hive and is rewarded with his favorite type of candy... honey!
mine is dying...I think.. it's curled over and I am not sure why. what can I do?
Thank you for watching! If it's curled over and the seeds are not as large as they can be, you may need better soil, high in nitrogen
Very cool! I miss California!
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed.
Hi Patrick. Wonderful garden
Really liked the video Patrick. We love to grow sunflowers at The Luffa Ranch. Not only for the beauty, but for a diversion crop for the beavers. They like the sunflowers and will be so distracted, they won't eat our luffa sponge crop.
+PaulOrientedotcom What a GREAT idea! Best wishes for your continued success! Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy my videos!
***** Thanks so much! We just harvested our giant sunflowers today. Great videos, keep up the nice work.
i have a nice sunflower plant that is very top heavy and it's so bent over it's now facing the ground, is this ok or should i try to support it with something ? thanks in advance for any advice !
It is completely normal for a sunflower to weep. It's preparing for maturation and if left to go to seed, will drop them right where it's hanging. Nice job!
Oh thank you, Sir ! it just looks so sad leaning over and so top heavy it's a nice and lucky it survived as the beetles on the East coast this summer were very bad and it took a beating !
This video is a great start for beginners that will be planning to plant sunflowers on their plant bed or in their backyard.
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed.
Amazing flowers! Hope you garden is still doing wonderful! Do the sunflowers also attract butterflies?
Butterflies are attracted to sunflowers as well as bees because of their color. They are also attracted to Aster, Dogbane, Milkweed, Viburnum, Wild Rose, Goldenrod, Mallow, Privet, Vetch, Grape Hyacinth, Marigold, Shepherd's needles, Fleabane, Aster, Red Clover, Purple Coneflower and any nectar producing flowers.
Interesting, great video Patrick! Thank you very much!

Beth Mondragon 2 months to full maturity. Sunflowers love water. 60-70 degrees; twice a week, 70-80; 3 times a week. 80-90; every other day, over 100 everyday. Thank you for watching and I'm happy you enjoyed my videos!
