Ed Helms is a musician too. He once gave a graduation speech at the University of Virginia and sang at the end of it, accompanied by a student a cappella group. He did a good job with it.
This has already been said, but Megan Mulally really should've been on this list. She's been in Broadway musicals in the past. I remember seeing her on an episode of the show, China Beach, where she played a singing and tap dancing hippie.
Okay, nothing against them but you can take Sandler, Fallon & Colbert off this list because there are more than a few comedians that were far better singers, so much better that they actually win awards & sold millions of records. Dean Martin was one part of the Martin & Lewis comedy team that made a bunch of movies that rivaled Abbott & Costello from a decade before. Martin also had a successful sketch comedy show in the 70’s along with being part of the famed Rat Pack. You also had Jim Nebors who is most famously known as Gomer Pyle but he was also an accomplished opera singer. I’ll also add that Janet Jackson got her start as a child actor on the comedies Good Times & Different Strokes.
Any that you missed? Geez, only a ton. Other than the ones that people have already mentioned (Megan Mullaly, Robin Williams, Ed Helms) there's Nick Offerman, Chloe Fineman, Kathryn Hahn, John C Reilly who was nominated for an OSCAR for Chicago and also sang a lot in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox story, Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds both did a really solid job singing in Spirited, Paul Reubens sang in Nightmare Before Christmas also and that was actually him singing in the beginning of Big Top Pee Wee...there are a ton of others.
What about John C. Reilly? He starred in Chicago & Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. He performed most of the songs in the latter movie's soundtrack & earned a grammy nomination.
How about Curly, Groucho Marx, George Burns, Jimmy Durante or Bob Hope? You kids today with your auto tune wouldn't know good music if it bit you on the keester!!
You forgot Hugh Grant (see the movie Music & Lyrics), Ewan McGregor (see Moulin Rouge) as well as Taron Egerton (who sang himself Elton's songs in Rocketman)
It’s no surprise that Seth MacFarlane is a good singer if you watch Family Guy. He sings in the voices of several characters in the opening of every show, and countless musical numbers throughout the series.
what a shitty list. Jimmy Fallon can't sing, period. also Sandler doesn't sing that well to be mentioned in the first place. jamie foxx in the third place is a crime especially since his Oscar-winning role of Ray Charles which is not only a confirmation of acting talent but also musical talent was not mentioned at all. There are many other comedians who are truly vocally talented. be better, mojo.
Well of course Catherine O'Hara is a good singer. Her sister Mary Margaret is an amazing singer who has a cult following and recorded one legendary album before pulling away from music. Her occasional performances now are always a big deal and her album Miss America is still a sought after record
NO NO TOTALLY WRONG THIS LIST Adam Sandler is not even that good, Jimmy Fallon should at least be at the top five because he really has a great voice and you forgot a lot of great people who sing amazing: Megan Mullaly, Jason Alexander, Robin Williams... to name few
Who’s your favorite comedian who turned out to be a great singer? Let us know in the comments!
Jenny Slate
Eric André. He's not fantastic like Martin Short, but he's good enough.
Jason Alexander (George Costanza on Seinfeld) ALWAYS gets overlooked in these lists. He is a Tony Award winning singer and dancer.
And he knows how to keep the hot side hot and the cold side cold
You forgot the late and great Robin Williams
How could we forget him?
He lent his voice to Genie in Disney's Aladdin.
Well technically it’s not a surprise.
Robin Williams and John Belushi were my top 2 picks.
Maya Rudolph also leads a Prince cover band
That is AWESOME! Funny too 😊
Where is Melissa McCarthy? She played the live action Ursula in The Little Mermaid and sung a duet of “Anything You Can Do” with Barbra Streisand.
Megan Mullally should be in this list.
Considering how often Masked Singer judges are like COULD IT BE JAMIE FOXX???? He seems like a bad choice for "comedians we didn't know could sing."
Seth MacFarlane! 🔥🔥
you had me til adam sandler at 1. seth is easily number one as well as the other top 5 over sandler from one point in the 90s
Carol Burnett would fit well on this list.
You also had Jim Nebors who is most famously known as Gomer Pyle but he was also an accomplished opera singer. I’ll also add that Janet Jackson got her start as a child actor on the comedies Good Times & Different Strokes.
Jim Carrey is a fabulous singer. Man On The Moon and The Mask are just 2 great examples of his singing ability.
Don't forget his karaoke singing in The Cable Guy.
I agree with John C. Reilly.
I was surprised not to find Sandra Bernhard on this list. It was effortlessly weaved into the comedy, great voice, powerhouse....
I'm surprised Robin Williams, Craig Robinson, Ed Helms, Ricky Gervais and Andy Samberg were not included
Do you understand the concept of 10?? Everybody can't make the list.
Is Jack Black a good pick for a comedian we didn't know can sing?
Lol I wondered this too but I also...I didn't know he could actually sing until Mario. Lol. So maybe others didn't too?
What about John C. Reilly? He starred in Chicago & Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. He performed most of the songs in the latter movie's soundtrack & earned a grammy nomination.
Who was suprised by Jack Black or Jamie Foxx? I mean they're both extremely well known actor/singer.
You forgot Ana Gasteyer and Melissa Villaseñor
How about Curly, Groucho Marx, George Burns, Jimmy Durante or Bob Hope? You kids today with your auto tune wouldn't know good music if it bit you on the keester!!
I wonder if Seth MacFarlane has done Broadway; he really is a great singer
Maybe he could go on to do Broadway if he wants to
He should, but in any case catch him if he tours. Spectacular.
You guys missed Kate Micucci
I know this is an American/Canadian list, but Paul Whitehouse was the son of an opera soprano, and it shows when he himself hits those big notes. ❤❤
You forgot Hugh Grant (see the movie Music & Lyrics), Ewan McGregor (see Moulin Rouge) as well as Taron Egerton (who sang himself Elton's songs in Rocketman)
IDK. Just because you can carry a tune, doesn’t mean you're a 'good singer'. Some of these are just so-so.
Comedians are some of the most talented performers on earth.
I watched Nikki Glaser sing on Hollywood Game Night and That's My Jam.
As a Taylor Swift superfan, she shared her chops with Shake It Off.
It’s no surprise that Seth MacFarlane is a good singer if you watch Family Guy. He sings in the voices of several characters in the opening of every show, and countless musical numbers throughout the series.
Where's Eric?
What about Tim Minchin?
Adam Sandler. Happy sunday night, Kirsten, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well
How about Nikki Glaser?
Would you count Iliza Schlesinger?
I heard her sing once.
You mention Steve Martin, but no Martin Short?!
Dick Van Dyke???
I think Robin Williams should have replaced Jimmy Fallon
Ikbar Menendez the third..
Did you google it?..
What about Ricky Gervais? He tried a music career before switching to comedy.
what a shitty list. Well of course Catherine O'Hara is a good singer. Her sister Mary Margaret is an amazing singer who has a cult following and recorded one legendary album before pulling away from music. Her occasional performances now are always a big deal and her album Miss America is still a sought after record
Uh, Robin Williams
NO NO TOTALLY WRONG THIS LIST
Adam Sandler is not even that good, Jimmy Fallon should at least be at the top five because he really has a great voice and you forgot a lot of great people who sing amazing: Megan Mullaly, Jason Alexander, Robin Williams... to name few
Adam sandler is born in new york
I don't care what anyone says, "Party All The Time" by Eddie Murphy is a great song.
If you're12 years old and living in 1984.
The only one with a truly extraordinary voice is Seth. The others should stick with comedy.
