Never seen this performed. This is my favorite song by R.E.M.; that waltzy feel of the 3/4 time signature, to lighten the heaviness of the lyrics. Sung it in my car ALL of the time, sans the music, ‘cause i couldn’t afford a car CD player…didn’t need one. What memories. Pray up.
My favorite band. I went to 3 of their concerts, 1982, 1985, and 1987, NYC. I have been in love with R.E.M. forever. This song is absolutely beautiful and perfect. Michael Stipe is indescribably beautiful

IMO it's because, while it has some of their best songs (losing..., half a world away, low, country feedback), it does contain some inferior songs. Automatic for the people is much stronger overall.
Not all dead yet. Buck still plays in bands, tours, writes, and produces albums. Stipe publishes photography books. Mills still plays. Berry is probably still on the farm LOL
What a song to finish Season 2 of The Bear! Perfect!
The storm that came up strong. It shook the trees and blew away our fear.
Highalive
Stipe's vocals and confidence came into full bloom on this album. Still one of my favorites. Moving performance, too. 💛
one of the best songs ever written. The Melody of the chorus is insane.
People forget how crazy talented REM were. This was a seminal band in alternative music. Inspiration for Nirvana among others.
They were also the inspiration for Hootie & the Blowfish, a master class on how to take college rock and capitalize on it
@@Mike_Oxlong_ where would mumford and sons be without REM? true folk revival right here!
The best band ever Michael Stipe is incredible i was so lucky to have saw them many years ago and I 67 now and still love REM 💕💕💕

Man his voice is so awesome!! I forgot how great these guys were!! ❤
Such an important song, especially right now.
What an incredibly beautiful song. This and Country Feedback are possibly/probably my favourite 2 R.E.M. songs❤

Wow! Great voice by Michael and awesome guitar work by the guys. Sounds perfect!
Unreal. Just with a mike and a fucking ukulele. Help. Bring back artists.

Really can’t understand how Out Of Time isn’t considered REM’s masterpiece - and by a distance. Beautiful.
Lol, I say the same thing but my favorite REM album is Automatic for the people.

Didn't know Bill played bass too.
Indeed. He also actually wrote some of the R.E.M. songs.
Oh my God. It's amazing

Bill Berry on guitar. I read somewhere that they decided to mix things up with who played what on this album.
Berry on bass. Mills on organ. Can’t remember who’s on acoustic guitar, but he’s a frequent collaborator/sideman through the 90s
