Thomas and Paul were so natural and believable in that movie.
Listening to this interview is great, I mean so many improvements. It's much tighter. Just seems, I dont know? More congealed or something. Also thought the ending was vastly superior to the old ending.
Rezy Ramos there is no new ending. Page 750 on is exactly the same
@@julianmx13
Well, maybe it seemed new. Because everything leading up to it feels so different?
Yeah, that must be it 🙄
Oh that was, uhmm....Spray n Wash...
Julian _ 😂
My favorite film of all time.
Same here.
Mine too...👍🏻
Same. Rewatch it about once a year and it never gets old. A masterpiece.
Same🙂
Sideways heads unite!
I'm not drinking any F'ing Merlot!
Hahahahahs! Giggle guffaw .
"And a barely legal, um no the new one" .... lmao 🤣
My favorite movie released this century so far. Absolutely brilliant. I have seen Sideways about 20 times.
That makes the two of us
Me too
Its like Scent of a Woman, I watch it every year
I’m with you !!!
ive seen it 65 times :)
Thomas was brilliant as was Paul. When Thomas breaks down crying in the hotel room begging for help really brought his character depth.
It was good, his character was definitely desperate cause it was his way out of his bad acting career
Both characters were train wrecks in Sideways. One of my favorite movies and it was filmed in my neck of the woods. Grew up in Lompoc, Buelton and Santa Ynez.
Love that area, wish I could move there one day
I live in the Central Valley and I love to go and visit all those places. Beautiful part of California! Your lucky
One of my favourite films of all time. Absolutely perfect blend of tragedy and comedy, amazing performances and writing
such a classic movie
Sideways is a timeless classic. The funniest part of the movie is where Jack tells Mikes to get the wallet from that house
My favorite line is ," When do we drink it."
@@samkun3297 "Are you chewing gum?"
Iconic!😂
Love that "you don't understand my plight" line. Walks away like he nailed it. Absolutely no self awareness. And Church was the guy for the job haha. Also love it when Giamattis character finally flips out at him on the golf course. Great misdirection with the fuckin old golf guys interrupting the thing we'd been waiting for. Also, miles running back to the car being chased by a huge naked guy: one of the most hilarious shots ever
What a wonderful movie. I love it so much.
Just rewatched this movie for the first time in years, what a brilliant film with incredible performances..with just a flutter of Edam cheese.
wise fwom youw gwabe
Strawberries, yes. Not the cheese. 🧀
Mmm, passionfruit...
Haden Church and Giamatti should reunite on Billions.
endlessly rewatchable masterpiece
Instant classic! My favorite film ever.
best movie can watch it over and over
I love this movie so much and I barely ever drink wine but the whole movie in itself and the brilliant, casting and directing makes you wanna relive those moments in their shoes. I wish there was a part two.
He and Paul were the best 1-2 punch ever! Movie is the best ever!!
One of my most watched movies in my collection. Love everything about it
New ending - VASTLY SUPERIOR to the old ending!!! 🤣🤣🤣
"Are you chewing gum?" 😆😆😆
Sideways is the best of the era of character based movies. I don't even care that both characters were lying, cowardly scumbags and were not intrinsically likeable.. I LIKED them, how is that possible?
I love he's voice
I've probably drank 4 cases of good wine watching this movie over the years. I go back to it often along with lots of tylenol.
Same :)
Ooh, don't mix wine with Tylenol my dude. Not good for the liver. You're better off popping an opiate.
This guy was great in Wings too as Lowell
I've been in love with him since Wings... I still watch it ON DVD !
Love this film.
Great actor! Just watched " crash pad" thouht would be dumb, but Thomas killed it in that movie!
They should make Sideways - Part Two. I would love to see an update on Miles and Jack. They probably ended up living together like Felix and Oscar.
He's so fantastic in that movie. "Tastes pretty good to me!"
This guy was soooo likable in that movie, also hilarious, I think that movie needs more recognition
His performance was excellent
I would love to see Paul and Tom together in another production
Thomas Haden Church is a national treasure
As is Paul Giamatti Brilliant. Their commentary is hilarious
They need to make a part 2 of this movie 🎥
Why?
There are two more books in the series
They never will and it's all Alexander Payne and Fox's fault and they screwed Rex.

This guy aged really well
Movie is in my top 3
This was a great movie such simple movie but brilliant acting. One of my favs!

He just wants to make sure she gets home safe;
Their chemistry on the screen is magnificent! Tom as Jack is amazing, he played it so well, the world is falling apart on Miles but Jack is like nothing is happening, maybe because they know each other so well, and know each other's limits... Brilliant movie, one of my favorites.
My favourite movie 🍿
Funny that Payne waited to cast Thomas and this was his by far best movie...that one with Pitt was a total flop...and Pitt was up for Thomas's role in Sideways...would have been unbelievable and unmatchable because Pitt is a 2D actor let's face it
Paul's character is not endearing at all. Remember, he steals money from his alcoholic mother.
hes so good
I love this guy
My favorite ❤ movie of all time. I have watched it 1000 times.👀
Epic movie!
Great Movie!
Why didn't they make a sequel?????
Sequels often spoil the original. Hard to top this one. But I reckon a 10 years on sequel could work well. Heck they are both so loveable and frustratingly bad at the same time.
@@deplorabled1695 I just watched it and thought there could be material for a sequel. Imagine the plot where the both of them go on a vacation to Italy and France for the wine stuff and bump into stuff along the way.
@@Baghuul Actually there could be another two sequels to complete the trilogy. Sideways was written by Rex Pickett as a novel originally and he has since written two sequels "Vertical" and "Sideways 3 Chile". Hopefully they get adapted to the screen by Alexander Payne or someone else who is suitable. www.goodreads.com/book/show/10158327-vertical, www.goodreads.com/book/show/23552568-sideways-3-chile?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=50voCnTfXA&rank=1
Sequel would more than likely not work. The comedy / road trip aspect of Sideways was only one part of a great film. The more substantial part was the idea that these characters were at a fork in the road of life ( early middle age) and in the case of Miles, a portrayal of how he finally gives up his facade and moves on from his ex wife.
A one dimensional comedy sequel about two guys in their 60s would need more to.it.
Holdovers is the sequel for miles character
Love those shit-kickers!!
Great great movie
i need to rewatch citizen ruth, but not a fan of downsizing.
his other films are all A grade for me.
election is brilliant
I can't express what this movie did for me
I was in a shit job, health declining, and went to the movie with coworker Bill. Where are you Bill? I'm same age as Paul actually he's older by a couple years. I remember asking the wine guy at the store in Yuma AZ, does the sideways movie give honest depiction of what is good wine. I don't remember what he said. Doesnt matter. I watch this movie over and over because this happened at a time in my life when I needed this movie and the Miles character. The innocence of that time is long gone but I still feel it and I wish I had it back. But I know It can't come back so I watch the movie and remember the past.
I remember watching American splendor when it first came out and thinking giamatti intrigues me. I would consider him my first love of the silver screen.
I know giamatti wasn't the only reason why sideways worked. Virginia's character describing her love of wine with her legs over the arm of the chair and her voice on answering machine at the end of the movie is just unbelievable. I don't know why it works and I've only provided simple thoughts and words to try to describe it. I grew up in the 80s and watched and re-watched all the John Hughes movies. Sideways is just on another level and even though I've used language to try to describe it it's not sufficient.
Thomas Haden Church should be in Billions with Paul Giamatti.
I've never drank Merlot since this movie....🤣
I love your movie. Sideways is a riot!
He "self pity's" the whole fucking movie . Great movie, fabulous soundtrack Rolfe Kent
yeah, have to agree, there's definitely some self-pity.
He was perfect for the Jack role
What did his character mean “you’ll never understand my plight?”
We never really hear what he meant by that…
I believe his plight is that he feels trapped, dissatisfied, but is compelled to seek something better, even if the search screws up what is pretty decent in his life. He knows his character flaws, understands they are irreparable, and that he is stuck with them.
Fine damned film
Great movie!!!
I adore that movie
"Timber Tom" :)))
I have no idea who this is, some girl told me I sounded like him so thats why im here
Oh fuck me!!
SideWings
Virginia Madsen OBLITERATED that scene. If you know, you know
never self-pitying??? LOL. that whole movie is nothing but a self pity party,
I agree with Nora.
I agree
Whine With Cheese
You were both great
Oooh i ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Sideways
