Will there be evil after this good?” The Prophet said, “Yes.” I said, “Will there be good after that evil?” The Prophet said, “Yes, but within it is smoke.” I said, “What is its smoke?” The Prophet said, “A people who are not guided by my guidance. You will recognize them and reject them.” I said, “Will there be evil after that good?” The Prophet said, “Yes, callers to the gates of Hellfire. Whoever answers them will taste it from within.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, describe them to us.” The Prophet said, “They are from our progeny and speak our language.” I said, “What do you command me should that overtake me?” The Prophet said, “Hold fast to the community of Muslims and their leader.” I said, “What if there is no community and no leader?” The Prophet said, “Then withdraw from all of the sects, even if you must bite at the root of trees until death overtakes you in that state.”

When I saw some of Shabir Ally's video I noticed something is fishy about him, something is not right. When he tried to answere some questions I noticed that he takes the middle path, either delibaretely or ignorantly. As a muslim we should always stay strong in our faith and teachings of our Quran and sunnah. We should not reject what was not rejected by Allah and we should have courage to reject what was rejected no matter what the situation is. But taking a middle path is a sign of weak imaan.

By Allah I hardly watch YQ and I followed Dr. Shabbir's debates. About Dr. Shabbir I was aware of his certain problematic views and hoped he stick to debating Christians. And I'm sufficiently conservative in my views regarding Islam but this trend of refutation culture is becoming ugly now. I'm sick and tired of it. People should themselves be able to see where a scholar or any person sliped regarding Deen. These casual discussions with no academic values are becoming a cancer on Ummah. Instead of pointing out mistakes in a person why not educate Muslims about right things, how to approach religious knowledge, how to judge.
This backbiting stuff is kind of cringe. May Allah help us. Subhan Allah the priorities of Ummah.

    • @talibeilm21c

If they could respectfully hold an academic debate people may benefit but this approach creates animosity. I have not seen Dr. Shabbir criticizing a Muslim as such or being militant in spreading his beliefs (I disagree with him regarding some of his views). We can't disregard his work for Ummah by debating doubters of Islam and coming on top Alhamdulillah.
Disagreements (if) should be done but in a suitable manner. Dawah should not become fasad by tearing down the fabric of the Ummah.

But stoning is not actually mentioned in the Quran? Stoning was back then a normal and accepted practice for dealing with adulterers and they continued that practice, doesnt necessarily make it Divine decree that stoning is a MUST. It doesn't seem God's way to interfere with cultures and norms without strict reason. For instance, polygamy was a normal practice in those times. To deal with the issue of men marrying orphans and dealing them a bad hand, the Quran instructed these men to instead marry amongst free women although restricting the number and putting the condition of equal treatment. This doesnt necessarily mean that as times change, cultures change, and socio-economic dynamics change, that polygamy cant be outlawed in societies as they see fit. It seems less of a Divine right given to men and more of God addressing the issue of marrying orphans for unjust reasons by telling these men what the better option was. God's way seems to be operating within their cultural/ societal norms only explicitly forbidding what is inherently harmful or immoral. Stoning isnt inherently bad bc ppl in past societies obviously did it with it being the opposite of socially disruptive and they didnt see it as barbaric. If revelations continued, I believe we'd see a prophet today jail adulterers rather than the stone bc it IS societal disruptive today and we have a cultural lens that tells us it's barbaric. Dr. Shabir Ally denies stoning is Shariah bc it shouldn't be a part of absolute religious law.

I am listening to a ton of assumptions and outlooks ( that is the issue with our umma )Who are we to judge? Do you know him? I think what you are trying to address is the issue of reforming Islam. I think as Muslims it's important to keep core values and not to deviate from the book. BUT! what you are missing is ...who is Shabir Ally is talking to? Do you think stoning someone and or cutting someone's hand would be allowed in North America? ( I believe the prophet also stated to follow the rules of the land no? how to we apply to stone and cutting hands in North America?). Before you post please review the demographics of the content and who is it being addressed to. I love your energy brothers but I wouldn't go posting assumptions. Remember there are already enough bais assumptions within our schools of thought. I think this info divides our Muslim Family rather than uniting. Allah is the knower, the planning, and the sustainer. If I could give you any advice it would be to focus on the content rather than assumptions. The assumptions you discuss is what killed the educated legitimacy of what you are discussing! Finally to conclude note that I still love everything you are doing and I'm glad we have people like you that keep things in check but try to drop the assumptions. To be fair, there's something called the letter of the law and the spirit of the law in fiqh, so each law has a specific intention that's meant to have a specific effect, if that effect stops working, there's no point in applying that law, so when sheikh shabir ally says he doesn't think stoning should be applied, its because the effect of that law will not work on modern people due to how soft they are. Stoning is there as an expiation and prevention for adultery, modern people who aren't used to these harsh laws and are used to committing zina will find this really hard to accept and it might even turn away some people from Islam (which it does) therefore it's part of wisdom and mercy to not apply such a harsh law to a soft and relaxed people. This method is extracted from how the Qur'an was revealed, Allah first gave warning for alcohol, then He prohibited it during certain times and then He sent down a verse comepletely making alcohol haram, likewise we need a similar methldology to the people. You need to be flexible, fiqh changes with the people and time. Islam is about ease and Allah loves ease.
Both saajid and farid are salafis meaning they follow the hanbali methodology (following the literal meaning of the text) this is a valid methodology but its not right to impose this methodology as the ONLY way to interpret Islam like most salafis (unintentionally) do. Islam is about being deeper, Allah praises the men of understanding but its sad how the salafi/hanbali methodology has influenced people and thus have made the masses into extremists in religion.
