    JESUS CHRIST, Pharell was RAZOR SHARP. He was able to READILY separate what might SEEM like a sexist implication of a line he wrote and the thought process of a man who knows the social context he is in, and thus makes a tongue-in-cheek guess that a woman "wants it". I'm completely feminist and I have to say, it's extremely bothersome when leftist/liberal people mistake sexism for contextual interaction. "I know you want it" might be a total shot in the dark, but saying it's sexist or that it promotes sexism is going WAY past the line.

    • @SpaghettiYOLOKingTTV
      @SpaghettiYOLOKingTTV ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Of course he regrets it, but not because of the line or anything like that. Because of what it got turned into because apparently, very few people actually have fun when they're getting intimate with their partner. Then the whole lawsuit thing with the song, which by the way, the judge got totally wrong because they didn't even follow copyright law guidelines when issuing their verdict, plus mentioning the vibe of the song as similar is completely irrelevant because a vibe cannot be copyrighted. Words, note sequence from strings, vocals, those can be copyrighted. Rhythm section and grooves cannot be copyrighted, yet he lost the lawsuit because the judge found he infringed on copyright due to the rhythm and groove of the song, as well as the vibe.
      It's extremely fascinating to me that federal judges here in America know very little about laws that surround media entertainment when it comes to music or anticompetitive and downright anticonsumer moves in other entertainment industries, which allow these terrible lawsuits to go in favor of the ones that either have no feasible claim to copyright or companies like Microsoft admitting in internal company emails to 'spending the competition out of the industry', as well as not even weigh all the facts of the case they heard or even acknowledge those facts. At least with the anticompetitive blunders, you can say 'well, that judge definitely got some payola'. When it comes to the constant mistakes on the music side of it, the only reason is incompetence.

    It's interesting how many people here think Pharrell did well here because I don't think he did at all. I feel like they were having two different conversations. Krishnan Guru-Murthy was asking him one question and Pharrell was answering a different one that was more convenient. If he doesn't want to address this, that's his prerogative, but don't pretend he addressed this straight up and that it was some kind of 'win'.As soon as you're refusing to acknowledge the difference between 'I know you want it' in a sexual situation and when selling a car, you're not interested in a serious conversation IMO. Or when you're trying to claim the topless women in the video are being objectified. Just OWN IT. These mind games he attempts to play are nonsensical.

    Even though Pharrell claims to not have touched the models, the way he was looking at them in certain scenes is very suggestive. "I know you want it" means many things but 90% of the meaning is the context and body language. Also it doesnt matter who wrote what, at the end, all participated in this songs production and have to agree to what they're singing about.

    Even though Krishnan is an idiot interviewer, i have seen worse, some interviewers like to talk over you and cut you off after being proved wrong e.g. Bill O'Reily, Pharrell clearly owned him here quite easily but i enjoy Krishnan's interviews just to see him get served.

    Bullshit interview. Leaving PC aside for a minute, we can all agree that, at times. women want it, men don't want it. Men want it, women don't want it. Often men want it, and women want it too! Why can't we be honest?? If I say to a girl, "I know you want it", then she says, "No I don't". OK! Message received. What the haters are saying is that the guy who says, "I know you want it", will then go on to force himself on her whatever she says. Nonsense! It's just a line. A come on. Part of the mating ritual.

    I was going to say that Mr Guru-Murthy needs to work a lot more before an interview, but it's nonsense. There is no amount of preparation that is ever going to help this journalist in a war of words with such talented and smart artists. They can see right through him, they are 3 steps ahead at all times, they dismantle his ill-advised line of questioning and set the record straight. Only way out of this while keeping face is to pretend it was done on purpose to make the artist look awesome. It sure does.

    Pharrell, how foolish you sound when you bring up a car salesman! And then to go completely outside the context of the song itself and the interviewer's questions. And then to try to distance yourself from the song by saying he didn't write this line or that line - he really sounds so smarmy and foolish. After watching this (and after seeing him blatantly lie in his deposition on the lawsuit over Blurred LInes) I have ZERO use for him.

    I understand what Farrell says. Women have a sexual desire just like men and just like any other human being. However, the language in the lyrics is ambiguous and did not deliver the message they meant to send. The problem is that Farrell, Thicke & the other one, don't remember his name, sorry, are not men enough to admit their mistake. And this happens very often, men think that when women say no, they are just faking it.. Men think that women do want them but they're just playing games and that when most rapes happen.

    Why is there any controversy over this song? He never says he's taking anything by force without any female saying it's okay. It is entertainment so why is anyone trying to ruin that? There are songs that use more explicit and demeaning material... it's not hurting anyone and Pharell shouldn't have to defend it. Period! If you don't like it don't listen to it. If anything Pharrell is the one artist who is stands for equality and women's rights more so than any other...

    Did they really have that conversation? Even if the line was used as a sexual innuendo, that doesn't equate to a man raping a girl. Or to be less gender specific, one person raping another.
    watch this...
    A: "I know you want it."
    B: "No, I don't."
    A: "Oh, okay."
    You can still say no, no matter the situation.

    I dont think it was meant to be a rapey sounding song, definitely sexual, plus the unrated nude video, and what Thicke did to the model, and some of the lyrics definitely made it sound like it
