It's not just about the girls being topless in the video. In fact, the girls being topless isn't the problem at all- as long as they wanted to and were having fun while doing it. The problem is the message of the song, and the fact that despite those lyrics, this song got so popular.
@@Crazy_Peanutz LMAO, that comment is from 6 years ago so I'm not sure if the person who said this can reply XD. The problem that many people have with the song shouldn't be the naked girls- there's nothing wrong with showing parts of the body. The issue that I personally have is the words and the lyrics. "Blurred lines" and "I know you want it" and things like that are perpetuating the idea that a girl wants it if she's flirting or wearing clothes that are "too" revealing. There are no "blurred lines". If someone says no, that means no. If someone doesn't give consent (a clear yes, either verbally or through body language) then it's no.

Crazy to have a law protecting women right? Females and males aren’t the same, their bodies are different and both have parts required to be covered up. Most men wouldn’t mind girls being topless either way. They are not the ones making women cover up
A lot of people are advocating for public decency laws to be equalised, but the sad reality is that if a law was made today saying that women could go outside topless, a lot of women still wouldn't. Because they would fear comments or sexual advances from men, as well as being judged for how their body looks.
is anyone else very disturbed how most of the teens said they liked the song though they acknowledged how completely disrespectful and objectifying of women it is? :/
i have respect for women but if that was David Beckham walking across topless women would be completely fine with it and so would men! i think women would stop taking this so personally
I really like Devin and Rebecca. they are very smart, mature, and can recognize when something is wrong, and it seems like they don't care if all their friends like it, they know it's not appropriate.
People like the song because it has a good beat and the music is catchy. It is sad that Robin Thicke and his producers and handlers decided to waste their lives and talent promoting bad ideas and making problems worse. Constructive lyrics and themes would have been just as much a hit with this good musical score. It is simply wrong to use good music to promote bad ideas.
One of the first lines is "you're far from plastic" and everyone seems to think this is about objectification when that really just doesn't add up to me. Appreciating a person's body doesn't objectify them, whether female or male.
No, I don't think it is. It's referring to the blurred lines of flirting and everything that has to do with love. Like how it's sometimes hard to tell if someone is flirting with you or hard to tell their intentions with your meeting. If you watch interviews of Pharrell and Robin I think it becomes pretty clear that they don't think that no means yes.
