A Yamaha V-4, 2-Stroke having the Coals packed in at 13,000 RPM's STILL makes my blood run hot.... I've had so MANY bikes, starting with motorcross (4), then street bikes which I had a Brutal, Near Death Experience on, on Oct. 25th, 2001. ill just say I had 29 broken bones, and numerous other internal and interskull injuries. But I've loved 2-Strokes all my life. And him throttling up this engine makes my blood boil I want to ride that bike so bad. AWESOME...
I know this video is more than one decade old, so it's a little late for me to comment, so please take this as a very general comment. If you upload a video to sell a classic bike, please make it clear right away. Nobody is going to blame you for it. One hundred times out of a hundred, I click to get some of the feeling, or remembering (remembering in this particular case) what it's like driving a bike like that. This being said, thank you for the video. 👍
@@2wheelmonster Thank you very much for clarifying the context. I apologize for insuating you might not have been completely straight forward when you posted the video. And thank you again for the video about a bike we both loved. Cheers!❤
The 1st models that came out in 84' the RZ500 V4 had no restrictions and I think they made around 84-88bhp if I'm not mistaken but in 85' the Japanese version the RZV500R was pretty much limited to power to I think around 65bhp but they had an aluminium/ alloy frame which were hand built with a few other minor mods whereas the original 84' models had mild steel frames which caused them to be significantly heavier than the RZV Jap version but you could de-restrict the RZV. Canadian model motorcycles usually have no restrictions the last time I checked which was quite some time ago...
@@2wheelmonster Top job. Just starting a massive ground up rebuild here. It's a 1984 Aussie version that's been sitting, not always sheltered, for 25+ years. Thanks for the inspiration.
Of course everyone KNOWS this isn't the V-4, 2 cylinder, fire breathers they raced in the 500cc Gran Prix's. The one I had I had to buy from a Canadian, as you only legally had the RZ 350's here in the States, which I had one of them first.
@@jeffdarnell7942 Okay, I see what you mean. I would like to know the source of the information about 280 ft lb of torque on a 500cc two-stroke though. Post the link containing the information, I would love to learn about this.

Was these full power in Canada, unlike the Japanese versions? Sounds fantastic! Brings back memories of my 500 back in 85. 😍

My friend Mike had yamaha rz350 & would smoke kawasaki ninja 600 all day.
Outstanding. A dry clutch rz is definitely faster
How much?
Well that was a couple years ago and long gone.....

Not really sure what you are saying....something about this Isn't a V4?? I see 4 exhausts. Looks like a 4 cylinder of some sort.
@@RA31A No bro. What I meant, is it ISN'T the 180hp., 280ft.lbs of Torque the bike that Wayne Rainey raced. THATS...what I meant.
