I literally fell down an 80 foot well before the session ended. This helps put my mind at ease perhaps I can show it to my DM before we begin play next time so I can potentially do something about the impact.

8d6 falling damage is still alot depending on your level. That sounds like a good idea.

For verisimilitude, add a saving throw against the height in yards (30 feet = 10 yards = difficulty 10), to a max of 20 (there's always a chance you survive). If you fail, you break your neck and die. Otherwise, normal 1d6 per 10 feet. If the landing is fairly soft, you make the save automatically but still take the damage. But above 50 feet, there's no such thing as a soft landing; even water is deadly, unless you're a trained diver jumping deliberately.

Hi Fred. Thanks for posting how you deal with falling. I would like to ask if you might, sometime in the future, make a video about player character food requirements? Do you use the standard rules in the PHB (pg 185)? I find it lacking, and easy to manipulate by players if they chose to do so. Luckily, my players are not the types to do this. There are other inconsistencies around food in the rules. A pound of food is required per day, but a day of rations weighs 2 pounds, for example. I've seen people claim "packaging", but packaging weighing the same as the food within is just ridiculous, especially for adventurers trying to save weight. And if you really want a mind-bender, check out the spell "Create Food and Water". It says 45 pounds sustains 15 people (3 lbs each). I know different kinds of food have different calorie content, but some consistency would have been nice just for ease of game play.

I laughed my ass off, reading this (thank you). Not to be unkind, because I'm sure some people want that level of complexity, but I've always ignored the food and water section in the PHB. I don't think I could keep a straight face and talk about food and water requires in the game of D&D.

howtod&d It's not unkind at all, and it is rather amusing if I'm being honest. But it is also badly written, and I wonder why they even bothered. By R.A.W., a character with a 16 CON could go for 6 days without food, eat one pound of food on the 7th day and incur no penalties, not even minor ones, then repeat the process ad nauseam. Truth be told, I don't worry about food either (up to now at least). The party I DM for has a ranger and a barbarian who both selected Outlander backgrounds, which allows each character automatic foraging for up to 6 people per day. If their adventures take them into a blasted wasteland/desert, with almost no natural food, I may have to reconsider, but up to this point I've been assuming those two can easily feed the entire party. But there are campaigns, such as the Underdark campaign "Out of the Abyss", where characters start with nothing but their wits and undergarments, and basic survival is integral to the gritty feel of it. In cases like that, I think some reasonable rules about food could apply. Unfortunately, the existing rules are neither reasonable nor consistent. I guess I will have to house-rule it if it ever becomes an issue.

I agree with everything you just said. If I ever run a dark sun campaign and have some real experience with food and drink requirement in the D&D 5e game, I will offer advice.

New fall damage rules in tasha's, perfect for a suplex build. Tabaxi psi warrior with mobile, unarmed fight style for bonus grapple damage, and expertise to make it hard to escape grapple. Grapple creature in one turn, next turn use psi powered leap, feline agility, and dasha action to take grapple opponent to 160 feet into the air, and land on the creature. If the enemy fails the dc 15 dexterity check, it takes 24d6 bludgeoning and you take 8d6 damage.

Thanks for the video! Any chance of u doing a video on the 4E conversion to 5E Halls of Undermountain?

Thanks for watching. It's really unlikely, but it also doesn't need a conversion. Just swap stuff out.

+7con barbarian with tough feat and rolling 12 for each level gets at level 20: 420 hp.
Almost as much as a terrasque. Although if you want to be more realistic, if you take average each time you end up with: 320.
    Woops, he fell 900 feet.
But I rolled a 319 (actually did) so it looks like he's okay
(It took me 3 trys to get 319, it went to 327, and 309 before that)

Falling damage max's out at 20d6 damage no matter how high you are. High level characters don't follow the normal expectations of a normal people.

Can a Druid negate fall damage by wild shaping into a squirrel?

I'm going to start this off apologizing for the essay but I hope you and others find this useful. Also I only have the online books so it does not give me page numbers sadly but I included the source book and chapter it is found on.
As described in the PHB no, it will still give you extra HP though so it is still a good option but keep in mind that wild shape is not a reaction so you wont be able to use it unless your DM gives you the go ahead since the PHB assumes you fall entirely the distance at the start of your turn. "When you transform, you assume the beast’s hit points and Hit Dice. When you revert to your normal form, you return to the number of hit points you had before you transformed. However, if you revert as a result of dropping to 0 hit points, any excess damage carries over to your normal form." PHB Ch 3 " Also there is optional falling rules in XGTE chapter 2 that breaks up the rate of fall for super long falls exceeding 500 feet. When you fall from a great height, you instantly descend up to 500 feet. If you’re still falling on your next turn, you descend up to 500 feet at the end of that turn. This process continues until the fall ends, either because you hit the ground or the fall is otherwise halted." XGTE Ch 3.
Players hand book, PHB - Base falling rules
Xanathar's Guide to Everything, XGTE - Optional falling rules with flying and long falls
Tasha's cauldron of everything, TCOE - Optional falling rules with falling into water, falling onto creatures, and objects falling on you

So, a Goliath who grapples and lifts up someone can throw them down and deal 1d6 dmg?

If the Goliath is 10ft tall maybe?? I would be ok with it, just as long as it ends the grapple and takes an action.
