Another awesome video Colin! Here's a suggestion from me, before you start on your Warlock project:
Obtain a set of Seymour Duncan Black Winter pickups, and some Billy Gibbons 7 gauge strings, install both on this guitar, and do a quick video on this setup!
I challenge you to play some Black Metal, and some Black/Death Metal; I do not see this genre getting much respect or exposure on many Metal guitarist youtube channels, which saddens me greatly. It would be awesome to hear how this setup sounds with that kind of Metal! Keep up the good work! Cheers! \m/

This is why I don't like cheap low end BC Rich guitars. The American made and early NJ series ones are the best.

@@FreshestOfMint I gotta agree with the other dude one this one, I ordered a brand new warlock and it too is unplayable, 3 of the strings have a rattle to them and therefore you can’t really play the guitar
@@rhombusbruh450 serious question, did you try adjusting the saddles or the bridge itself? I have a schecter that had the same issue and after I adjusted it (like not even enough to notice the action change) it was fine.... obviously if you don't have it anymore my post is moot anyways lol

Guitar work is daunting sometimes because it's so easy to mess up a precision musical instrument, but it's also easy to fix and once you start digging into them, you realize that you are just some tools and TH-cam tutorials away from learning a very cool skill. Even something like doing a full setup on guitar can feel very rewarding, knowing you can turn almost any guitar into something playable unlocks a lot of potential out of every stringed instrument you come across.
This is why I love cheap gear, because I can get something that looks and feels decent, then turn it into something special with a few choice upgrades and many hours of work to make even budget guitars into workhorses that sound incredible.
Dude is a luthier without all the fuss 🤘🏼 i love the current trend of colin and other youtubers giving us all the confidence to give things a go ourselves 👍🏼

@@COL321 that's more of a quick solution, than it is a permanent one. Usually, when you refret your guitar you will have to change the nut too.

@@christopherrodarte9822 to match the height of the new frets. The contact points of a string in a fretboard are 2. The bridge and the nut. The bridge is quite difficult to wear out, but the nut not so much. If the nut has wear and you put new frets, then the guitar will probably buzz at the first frets, because the nut was either cut for lower frets or has so much wear that the strings are way lower than they should. That's not always the case, but it's definately something to keep in mind.

There is a little attachment you can buy called the Glue Looper that you can screw on to your xacto knife and will allow you to drip super glue into a very tiny place like the fret cavities.
Every hobby store has super glue bottles with a "hypodermic needle" dispenser. Some model kits have incredibly small parts, and someone quickly capitalized on people not liking to drown their parts or glue their fingers together. Fair deal if you ask me.

The tricks I have found for getting super glue into extremely tight places is to for starters use a very thin super glue. Second use the whip tips that are thin and flexible and come in extremely thin sizes. The other thing that can help is to wet the surface with a solvent like Lacquer Thinner or Acetone. These are thinning agents for most super glues. But in this situation it helps wick and further thin the superglue into the area you want it to go.
The haircut makes it a little easier to imagine you in a mad scientist's coat/goggles/gloves getup. Which popped into my head as you mentioned the "project you have planned," towards the end.

Our pawn shop always has a couple of these, all of which need a fret job. It is like their QC is just make them pointy so unsuspecting kids will buy them... The mid and higher end BC Rich are fine, but the Bronze series is shite IMHO.

I levelled and polished the frets on my knackered old bass the other month. I'm not much of a bass player as guitar is my main instrument, but the bass seemed to feel better to play when fretting the strings. It can make a big improvement!

You can use any wood glue (pva, titebond, even liquid hide or fish) to glue the frets in. It's more than enough in terms of adhesion and it's way, way easier to clean and manage than superglue. Not to mention it'd make a future refret easier too. Just a lil tip for anyone interested.
I found watching this a great educational tool I’m an aspiring musician and I’ve dabbled in fixing the action and intonation on my guitars now replacing tubes on an 87 fender dual reverb but my school had a guitar or two that are not to expensive but can be used to teach me how to dabble more into tech and fixing instruments with little financial consequences so thank you for making this I’ll be needing to crown file and polish frets on a Tele style guitar that should be fixed rather than thrown out because it is a great SOUNDING guitar just not a great feeling one nicking my fingers so I’ll run three the end of this vid when I get my materials thanks!!!! I've done this. You did a brilliantly clean meticulously crafted refret.
Tapping and then pulling out frets from the side is also a good technique, especially on ebony boards which are much more prone to tear-out/chipping than rosewood, maple, etc.
Also, adding a shallow 'v' to the top of each slot with a triangular file will make fret reinsertion/future fret removal an easier task (they'll go in and come out more easily, but be no less secure while in place).
