I'm about to be 31 so hearing I'm not too old is a huge relief. I know it can take 15 years to get there but I haven't had the chance to get in school until now. This is what I want.
watching videos such as these inspired me to persevere, i had poor grades throughout my life, then i committed myself to the challenge and rigor, and it paid off this year when i got into my dream med school, thanks dr.Webb
I agree totaly! I am finishing my med school right now and I still do not know what topic I want to specialize in. And I surely do not know everything! The more you learn, the more you see what you do not know, haha. Good luck to all my fellow medstudent! Keep it up!

I love this. One of my favorite doctors just retired after practicing for 50 years. He continued to do surgery until his retirement. Another doctor of mine graduated medical school in 1969, and he’s still practicing. He doesn’t miss a beat. Even if one begins med school in one’s 30s and beyond, there are many more years to be a practicing physician! Just a few weeks ago, Dr. Carl Allamby was featured on CBS’s Morning show. He is a first year ER resident at age 48. His story is amazing. I remember posting on a premed/med message board a few years ago, and a med student mentioned a fellow classmate being in his 50s. He decided to go to med school after being a dentist for years. There are more stories like this than people realize. It is never too late, folks!
Dr. Webb, thank you for providing a logical thought process. These are surely things that are weighing on our minds as medical students and pre-meds. Great to know that we are over analyzing some things!
Hello, I want to ask one thing from you guys whenever I see any doctor or visit any hospital I feel like they have huge respect and importance and everyone needs doctor. So i should do it. Is it a right reason for pursuing medical school ?
Hey, I really love your videos. I was wondering if you could do a video on psychedelics. Especially the new research supporting medicinal uses. I'd love to know your opinion on drugs overall, from legal to illegal substances, and how they effect the brain. (neuropsychopharmacology). THANK YOU :)

Thank you so much docotor Webb for this. So many of us have the desire and passion to make it in the medical field but we notice that our weakness and little things that comes our way turn to make us doubt if we can make it. I really appreciate the fact that you have made it clear that medical students are all like us and not some superhuman. And thank you for the hints on things to do to make it to medical school.
Keep em raining with those motivational videos! Keep reviving the medical dream inside me, because when I always look at the financial requirements I lose hope since I am poor! :( I have pretty high grades in every subject so info is no problem for me.
Hi, good question and that is a common concern. Most people take out loans and pay for school that way. That is the most common way people pay for it, even if you don't have money
Dude you really love med you're are so dedicated that you watch all videos ... I really wish you the best and I pray you become the best doctor you can be
This may sound irrelevant but what did you get on ur ACT and what college did you for your undergraduate studies? Thank you for making this video, it really gave me a larger insight over medicine!
Honestly, I was only held back by the first five. But that hasn't stopped me from ... uh... dreaming about it. Jokes aside; in Augusta, GA, it only takes about 2-and-a-half months, and $1,100 to become an EMT-B (basic). This will get you a job in an ambulance. A job in an ambulance will help you with acquiring 'hands-on' patient care, and it will put you in a roller-coaster of extreme stresses, and utterly boring calls. The pay is awful. The work conditions are awful. But your ability to put that experience onto your application is highly, highly valuable.
I have a question. What if I take all my prerequisites at a community college? I’m a career changer and just didn’t take the prerequisites while in undergraduate school. I’ve applied to post baccalaureate programs who all have said that bc I didn’t take enough science courses while in undergraduate, I should take another route. Thus, I’ve decided to take them at my community college all while volunteering as an EMT and working as a CNA part time. What do you think my chances are?

Dr. Webb, how do you feel about going back to get a second bachelors vs taking a post bac program? My credits are going past the maturation cut off, wondering what would you think is the best course of action.
@@rustyshackleford2841I know your comments 4 years old, but it’s okay to not know what you want to do. Unfortunately it’s society that say you need to be perfect (non human) in that respect, so don’t worry.
I appreciate that you touch on the “not being too old to become a doctor” but I do feel like I’m too old 😒 I’m not afraid of the commitment, just the age factor... I’m in my 40’s and haven’t finished a bachelors degree yet. I’m late in the game 😒
Don't let age slow you down. If you love and want it, you are never too old to chase it. Better to do it and reach your dream than sit around wondering "what if". When your time comes, you don't want to look back and regret passing up on this.
Hello, I don't have much experience in that arena but I would say the best way to get into a US residency is to find programs that accept foreign graduates and rotate there. If you can get more when one rotation set up, that would be better. Long as you get your foot in the door then work extremely hard/make connections then that may help. Just some things I have heard such as the admission committee discriminate against people who have children, and a student with a 3.7 GPA is not high enough for MD and that they have to go to DO school and that if you have even one F your automatically eliminated as a candidate. This comments were made by a Post Bacc school. I don't agree with them but they tell students this all the time. I find the process of applying dishearten because of these types of comments. Thanks for trying to clarify.
Fellowship is training after residency to sub-specialize. Examples would be cardiology fellowship after internal medicine residency or Plastic Surgery fellowship after general surgery residency.
Antonio J. Webb, M.D. I’m referring to not having done the science prerequisites back in the early 2000’s and trying to get good grades in a post bacc now. Does that mean, expect to take each post bacc class twice?
