WearTesters huge fan of the air tech in hot lava. Was hoping we’d get a black lava similar to Lebron. I have my 2014s. Grabbed them on super clearance 30 bucks. I wear them everywhere. Not comfy but very 90s

I'm 41 yrs old and I got a pair of these as a Christmas present back when I was a kid and can still to this day remember how it felt opening that box.. these are top 5 alltime for me
I'm 39 and have the same feeling for these Hot Lavas, Orange and blue Bo Jackson's, volt Air Max 95's, and Infered Jordan 6's. I don't know why but for some reason those 4 just hit me different. I remember everything vividly about that time in my life when they dropped

@@djamz1 it was just a special time. A sweet spot. We were young but we remember the initial nostalgia because Jordan, Bo and even Aggasi were actually playing and Nike was making them bigger than life. Everything after that time was a retro. We didn't even know what a retro was until late 90's. The closest thing to a retro we had to that was air force 1's 😂.
What was great was that these shoes had such substance behind them and the Nike campaigns and commercials were so great they created worlds around these shoes.. had me hooked from the beginning
Great review as always, but the conversation at the end had me rolling! I loved Home Improvement, Boy Meets World, and The Fresh Prince too. Every time DJ Jazzy Jeff wore that same shirt, you know he was gonna get tossed out the front door, ha
Home improvement and boy meets world was my childhood too, wasn't expecting the nostalgia feels but damn man you got me. Those shoes are fresh though I always wanted the poison green and black pair, dope vid as always

My older brother got a pair of these in 1990 and I've wanted a pair since. I finally copped them last week. I love everything about these, I don't care if the material is crap, these are complete nostalgia!

I remember skipping right by Home Improvement when I was a kid, and growing to enjoy it in my later teens because of Nick@Nite reruns lol. I loved Boy Meets World though. "FEENY!"

Awesome review, one of my grails too. Yep, pretty much like the Jordan 4 and 5 design wise. Used to game them back in 89/90. And if I remember correctly, they had synthetic uppers and additional removable arch inserts.
A friend of mine use to ball in these back in the day, they similar to the Jordan 3 and 4's.

I really like the look of these I remember them from back in the day I passed on them. But you’re on foot videos are totally selling me right now I just love when sneakers are opened up laces are loose they just look so comfy and so great on feet, they remind me a lot of my white cement 4’s which I love. Curse you Nightwing. Lol. Hopefully I can catch these down the line on sale.
Saw them as a teenager back then, just like the white lava AM90. Both mindblowing beautiful kicks. Happy have them both

I copped these the other day from Footlocker and so happy to rock em. I had a pair back in the late 80s. 🔥shoe.
Having worn my pixel blues to death (the ones you showed a picture of after the kumquats), I can say that they definitely have forefoot air. The kumquats are my second favourite colourway as well.

Kind of reminds me of the OG Auburn Bo Jackson’s (🔥🔥🔥) in color and silhouette. Dope shoe. I thought these were dope when I saw them drop but couldn’t remember who wore them until you said Agassi. Great review. Dope kicks

@weartesters Hey Chris, wasn't expecting a review but thank you VERY MUCH for doing it. Didn't know you were a fan of tennis retros or an Agassi fan? Missed the OG's back in 1989 (mom got me the black/cement IVs instead, not mad, lol). Grew up a HUGE Agassi fan as he got me into tennis (which I still okay today at 42). Finally got my pair in 2008 and again in 14. Still wear the '08 pair (love the shad of hot lava. The '14 pair will become tennis playing shoes as I'll use the new '19 retro for casual (saw my pair today as they were at work for a few days while on vacation). Nike did these VERY well, even if they changed the eyelet color. Thanks again for the review. 👍👍👍

Those are dope I definitely remember wanting them as a kid.... Any chance of a video/review of the Air Darwin? They dropped in the OG white/black/teal cw a couple months ago and I think everyone slept on em. I already copped but those bring back memories for us old heads

I have the 2014 pair and have a love hate relationship with it. Since i'm flat foot, the shoe kills my foot if i use it more than 2hrs. But i love the look of it and the colour combo. Such a good looking shoe and stands our from the crowd. but yeah, the 2014 model has the same thrashy quality. The synthetic leather is hard af. Good to see you finally cop a pair bud.
i got the hot lava, and also got the polo shirt, when they first came out. i remember not many at the club liked it because it was non-traditional. i wore the originals until the soles were worn out and bought the retro back in 2015.
I’m glad you called the materials trash bcuz they are trash. I love this shoe and passed bcuz of it. It kills me. Hopefully one day they will do this classic shoe justice. The Grand Slam Air Tech Challenge II French Open’s leather puts these to shame, and they should’ve used that leather on these. Nike needs to do better. Anyway, glad you finally have them since you always wanted them. Great review as always. ♥️

I believe I had these when they 1st cameout in 89. I tore them up bigtime. I remember when they 1st retroed them in 2007 or 08. I believe I bought 2 of those. I have to say Agassi has one of the dopest signature kicks. I notice that 2019 the gray wings is somewhat darker and the front wing is gray instead of white. Even though I prefer the 08 retro it still a nice shoe.
The Air Tech Challenge line was always a favorite for me. They were flashy and looked like basketball shoes. Agassi was one of my fav players back then...along with Pete Sampras and Steffi Graf....and of course McEnroe (a fellow leftie!) Sucks that the materials are cheap...but like you said, it's more for nostalgia.

Such an underrated, but absolute CLASSIC. Wish they'd release it with good leather. Also, I'm a purist and that grey lace lock makes me scream internally. Regardless, still happy to see Nike give the Air Tech line some love. The Air Tech IIIs are also fire.
As I’ve gotten older the less cushion I like on my daily shoes. I work at a somewhat physical job and I used to wear Jordan 12s to work in and boy did my legs hurt at the end of the day. The cushion was good for my feet by my calf’s hurt so much! After buying some good work boots and adding some orthodontic insoles my legs feels much better now.

I remember a drug dealer rocking these with the matching Nike tennis polo and shorts when I was coming up and I had to have them. Definitely a top 5 shoe. My 2014's need a upgrade.
This is an underrated silhouette in my opinion. Would like to see some more subtle colour ways but these are nice.

Are these better material quality than the Legacy 312 in Lava? I know hybrid sneakers never get hyped but I quite like having both the Jordan and Agassi elements in 1 sneaker. I have the Legacy's, so I may as well sell them if the quality is the same as these 2019 ATC's.
Still have my pair from the 2016 release. They are still 🔥🔥🔥 if these drop to the outlets I'll pick up a pair to deadstock

Chris, I see Tim Allen in area all the time. His wife is from where I live. He's a good person and rather down to earth. Home Improvement is one of the best TV shows ever and same as Boy Meets World. The best show for 90s sneakers heat was and always will be Fresh Prince.

I saw someone wearing these online and it took me a long long time to figure out what they were - I mentioned to my GF how awesome they were and she fucking bought them for me for my birthday last year. I wear them all the time, wicked comfy and they are a great bit of nostalgia. Old dude at CVS even stopped me and asked if I knew who Agassi was haha

Loved Agassi and copped the QS on Nike. I did play tennis and these were ones I just wanted but could never get in 90.

great shoe, can feel every word you say. Interestig that the grey plastic lace part in the front is gray and it was white in 1990. Different things on retros. Have a nice day.
I bought a pair of the other colorway in 2014, the quality just wasn't good on that release though. the stitching on the each shoe didn't even match.

I seriously wanted to pick these up but adulting sucks sometimes. (Costco run won out) I guess the only thing that would worry me are the materials. With the majority of my collection worthless because of deterioration makes me hesitant. The look and the colorway is dope as hell though!!

Yeah I agree Chris shoes that are too soft tire your legs out after awhile. I remember seeing a sticker in a box of free runs that I got once and it said that Nike Free causes you to use the muscles in your feet and lower legs more
I love this shoe, such a major sleeper. But I’m not a big fan of the cut of the shoes at the ankle, it looks awkward to me. I have the 2014 pair, and wear them every now and then cause I can’t get past the look on feet. I try really hard to walk out the door with them but I switch into my skylon 2s lls.
