All of the air conditioners we scrap are and must be emptied by the hvac tech before we purchase them and if we come across one that is still full of gas I have a hvac friend who recovers and recycles all the gasses! seen a few of your comments sorry I haven't been back on here in so long now I've been struggling with things. I'm back at it now and am going to be posting again!
@CYRUS DAWSON, my plan is this: fours days a week in the van. Three days on the bike and an occasional day off. I say day off, I'm sure I'm like most scrappers, we still tend to do a bit of cleaning up of scrap and generally still scrapping. This is my favourite occupation I've ever had. I scrapped as a kid, as a teenager and now as an adult. I plan to always be a scrapper. As long as my body allows me to. All the best buddy.
I also found a local electrical supply guy that buys and sells certain used equipment for much more than scrap. Cuttler Hammer (?) Breakers are in demand.
Local? local to where? I would like a connecting that buys electrical equipment lol I mainly sell stuff on eBay if I think there will be any sort of demand for it, sold some large breakers before
If you run a Sawzall down the sides of those coils and cut the copper to get more for it the coils are aluminum copper mix so you only get like half of the price so if you cut the copper off to get quite a bit more
Right!!...so how do I get that transformer. I know there is a shit ton of copper in it. How do I find them? I think this vid may be for people trying to understand where copper is located. IDK! LOL
You can get a transformer at your nearby substation. But you wont enjoy the spoils because you will probably be dead. And your family will be without power for up to 30 minutes.
What about plumbing copper? Granted new construction is more into PVC but I get most of my copper from bathroom and kitchen remodels (big role off dumpsters in the street)
Now, HERE'S a good question.. Do you keep it & melt it down or do you turn it in?? I'm melting mine down as I find it & turning them into 5lb bars of solid copper ingots, that of which I have 10 currently, with another 30-40lbs sitting in a tub waiting for spring to come back so I can start melting again.. (edit) I mean, you've already got the tools to extract it all, it's actually pretty fun to melt it all down & turn em into ingots, they look nicer too!!😁. During the lockdown I picked up a smelting furnace, some molds & a bunch of crucibles & haven't looked back!!
Nice I've always wanted to try melting some ingots my self as well but I never got around to it. most scrap yards don't actually like buying ingots unless you have a close contact with them because they don't know forsure what's in it..
Thank you so much for the information.. Where would you recommend for a person just starting out to find such treasures? I see the value in your information. If you had to start over, were would you start your treasures hunt at?
Hey thanks for watching! if someone is just starting out id start by searching the streets on garbage nights as well as dumpsters.. start trying to do some advertising in your local area offering free pick up. Start learning slowly and slowly building some connections with clients and scrap yards. Ask lots of questions at your local yard
Yeah not going to find that many or those type of things at the curb very often or ever lol Ive been doing this for a while so you slowly build some connections and I'm always searching and advertising in different ways offering to pick up scrap metals or offering to buy scrap. I've only been to a few auctions but I have a buddy who works with storage unit places so we get some connections through that as well
I have seen a couple of guys on TH-cam that actually buy insulated wire and then strip it to maximize the profit. Not sure where they buy it but I suspect demolition companies may be willing to sell rather than do the work
I think he's asking how much a kg of copper is worth , since a kg is 2.2 pounds and copper clean or #2 for most other people is (at my yard 3.73/lb right now that would make a kg of copper 8.21/kg) however if it's bright wire (4.10 at my yard rn) then it's 9.02/kg
@@joehertel8846 thanks for clarifying it for him and me lol. Right now #2 copper is at $4.40-$4.50 right now in my area! Crazy high prices! Near Toronto Canada
what type of wire can you buy for that price? there is a lot of competition with buying copper around here so you'd be really lucky to have a source at that price
Thats the big question.. the real struggle is finding new connections and ways to advertise. like most types of business new / unique forms of marketing is what's going to make the most impact
If you see any construction sites or where an old building is being remodeled you can stop by and ask. If you know anyone that works in restaurants have them keep an eye out bc restaurants are always getting new equipment. If your area has a spring cleaning time where they pick up large items for the dump be prepared and especially drive through the more affluent areas as the wealthy tend to throw out good things. Look for old illegal dump sites.
I got a lot of the motors from one connection I had for a while I no longer get them from him though. just advertising in different ways trying to find more connections
I bought the trailer for cheap off of Kijiji.. just got lucky and found a good deal after searching for a long time and then added the winch on my self. bought the winch on clearance at princess auto for cheap too!

he never said where he got any of it. he was just bragging showboating the whole time.
lmao want me to deliver cash right to your door for you?
you need to do the work your self.. no one is going to tell you exactly how to do it and hold your hand so you can make some money.
if you want it too get out there and start trying to get it!
My Toyota is scared for it's life.
it should be! the catalytic converters are probably worth more then the car lmao

Lol no the bundle for that exchanger haha jk …. That happened before here in Louisiana
@@kadehebert4054 lol I'm sure people do steal stuff because its valuable but I do not steal anything. most of the time if it is a valuable thing I am recycling I my self had to pay someone or a business for it. I offer to pick up and pay depending on what it is and where they are located
Very nice
Dislike for loud music and not hearing anything else
And 2nd thing... your camera shakes like you are on drug crisis
So many whiny wankers, don't watch it if making your menstrual cycle start earlier than usual
BAD RECYCLE!!!!
You cant leave insulated wire and other plastic and crap from motors on the copper, just a bad way to show shady work
lol you are on a negative commenting spree? Of course I don't leave that crap on the copper before I sell it.. if I did I wouldn't be able to sell it for top dollar if it was too hard to separate maybe id sell it as dirty copper.. that seem shady? lol
