    How do some people stay fit (seemingly without effort)?
    More importantly, is there anything we can learn from this that benefits us?
    I talk about the role of genetics, lifestyle, and exercise intensity!
    We all have talents and we can learn to leverage them to our benefit. When someone is talented and works hard, we can be inspired by what they've accomplished - especially when it pushes the boundaries of what we thought was possible! I believe that people questioned the possibility of a 400lb bench press in the early 20th century. Then a 500lb one. Nowadays, it seems like many fit people can do them with training (though they're still very impressive).
    Lifestyle also plays a massive role in our fitness. Not everyone wants to optimize their eating and sleep patterns, but they definitely help for many fitness goals. Just something to consider.
    And finally, some people just have an optimized and consistent exercise routine. You don't always hear about them in the gym, but they get their workouts completed in 20-30 intense minutes. This is enough to make consistent progress for many people! The previous two factors also play a role here.
    There are many other factors, but these come to mind when people ask me about this.
    Free fitness routine, free fitness app, and a full fitness book linked on my profile.
    Or you can just search "Hybrid Calisthenics" + Routine, App, or Book. Most of the stuff pops up on Google.
    Have a wonderful day!

      Despite having flexible and soft ankles and being overweight my whole life, I used to sprint up all stairs because of childhood trauma, so I was basically legs-maxing without realizing it.
      That's technically the genetics/lifestyle explanation, if not an abnormal one
      Upper body was much weaker in comparison.

      I'll also add before people drove, they walked. Not to say us reducing how much physical labor is *required* to survive is a bad thing in itself, but the way our societies have developed many of us have only substituted mandatory physical labor with mandatory mental and emotional labors. On top of these most of us take cars into that place of work, and barely physically assert anything at all unless our job requires something, or we have to run up a flight of stairs or something.
      Not to mention that commute itself can even be another added stressor. We're just stuck piloting a metal box around countless others also forced into piloting metal boxes and having to literally just sit there and deal with the stress of others bad metal box piloting skills until we get into work. Where we then spend most of the day sitting or standing just dealing with whatever stress comes our way. You can't get anymore polar opposite to what environment we evolved in for hundreds of thousands of years, for both the better *and* the worse, and thanks to this polar opposite arrangement it seems we have to go out of our ways in our free time, however much of it we're even allowed, to correct for the worse. It's really no wonder we have crises of obesity and seemingly ever worsening mental health

      And plenty of people myself included here in the US want the infrastructure and public transit funding that makes that even possible but here we are. But no, you're right, thankfully not all "developed" countries are totally overcome with car dominance just yet.
      Even here in the US more and more seem to be rethinking it and there's even some cities beyond just NYC that are starting to engineer for more than just the car too. Here's hoping NJB and others keep going viral and the tide changes enough maybe I'll see a day my severely epileptic nephew that'll probably never be able to drive can finally see what freedom to travel feels like for once. Maybe, I can certainly hope anyway

Hes 79 but fit and as healthy as a 40yr old man. He says working in restaurants all his life are the reason he’s healthy and doesnt feel a day over 40! Most people have a lot of trouble with squats because they never do it. But mext time you drop something, don't bend over, squat and pick it up, next time you wanna sit on the floor, squat instead. You get strong knees.

      In my experience (and according to a pretty broad body of scientific research), just hitting the recommended fiber target of 30-40g will produce natural portion control, lower fat percentage, and lower rhr. The things you need incorporate in your diet (pulses, whole grains, greens, and fruits) to do this will take care of most deficiencies in the American diet and most are not expensive (they just require changes to your gut microbiome).
      Most people get 15 grams of fiber, though.

    Something NotJustBikes has brought up in his urbanism content is that simply walking or biking to get around gives you exercise, which is called "the gym of life".
    If you walk a mile back and forth each day that's honestly a lot of exercise! and will make it wayyyy easier to stay in shape.

    • @__-fm5qv
      @__-fm5qv 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Hell if you walk to a lot of places you're probably doing way way more than that. At least for me about 1 hour of walking is about 4 miles. And if you add up all the time you walk each day its probably more than that (if you're walking to places).

      You probably just needed better nutrition and sleeping habits part of going muscle is rest and what you eat then there’s the rest required for your muscles to recover and rebuild that’s pretty much the basis of getting fit, you can do little exercise but you will see the difference as long as you follow the other things

    • @peacelove7437
      @peacelove7437 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s mostly cardio so it makes since that you have to lift also to build muscle.

    • @kohlraedirectioner
      @kohlraedirectioner 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@peacelove7437how much muscle you engage by digging really depends entirely on the state of the soil. If it's too dry, you have to really push to get your shovel in, and if it's too wet, it's heavier to lift the same shovelful, and can cake up on your shoes, making your feet heavier, too. I highly doubt there were optimal digging conditions every time this person was working.
      Your shoulders and biceps get a pretty strong workout from digging in less than optimal conditions, and sometimes, if it's too dry, I use my legs, too, to kick the shovel deeper.
      Some people are just genetically predisposed to retain fat in aesthetically displeasing areas of their body (totally subjective), and for people who aren't genetically predisposed to carry fat in a way they find aesthetically attractive, or to carry an amount of fat that is unhealthy to them, getting to a place where they are a healthy weight and/or find themselves aesthetically attractive is a hard journey, and involves so much more than just exercise --- getting the right nutrition, hydrating well, and sleeping enough are all factors.

    I do home workouts for 15-40min 1-3 times a week. Am I super consistent? Nope, not at all. Tho I do it mostly just for myself. My goal isn't to be super buff or perform awesome feats. I just wanna stay lean and I think this is pretty much achievable for anyone that can move around.
    Sometimes you just need to take a 30min walk through the neighborhood, sometimes you actually do crunches and push or pull ups and whatever else there is to push yourself. Just remember we all start somewhere and it's okay to move at your own pace. If you have a goal in mind, you can achieve it.

Within three days of it, I got to a point where I could hold the squat for 3 minutes. I don't know if this is normal, but I've made it a challenge to up how long my reps of it by 5 seconds every day. Before gym, I was struggling even to walk properly. It wasn't natural initially, but then I decided that what's done at gym shouldn't stay at gym and I should extend my activity & motion range to other than targeted muscle group training. It did help me and my mobility, general fitness and functionality improved a lot. 👍🏻
