Just to put some context behind the purchase of this engine, against my better judgment it was sold to me as having only done a few thousand miles and came stright out of a car that was "runing perfectly with no issues" I was shown pictures of the engine build with all new parts etc also.. Guys learn from my mistakes 😂 don't buy second hand forged engines.
That said there's been some epic advancements with the build, the engine spec is awesome and we got a few more goodies going on that will transform this build into something special 🙌🏽😬 TURN L's TO W's

Previous owner would have tanned it to death and the engine probably got took out because the car got wrote off.

We've all been there sadly Jamie. When I bought my car the last owner hid some issues with the car. Broke my heart and put me off it but a few years later I'm in love with it now after getting those bits sorted 👍
This is why I love this channel. You see the good (purchasing a 911) the bad (selling the m3) and as in this video the ugly. Most youtubers would of washed their hands of the dc5 by now with problems its been causing. But the energy and excitement always comes across to us viewers and its great to watch 👍
Guaranteed that if you didn’t take it to AutoTorque, you would have other garages telling you “it’s all good” and down the line you’ll find yourself hitting rock bottom again 🤦🏽♂️

I know somebody who done this 4WD conversion on a DC2 - I know it's not the same chassis, but may be helpful with any issues as CRV parts were used in this instance too. His name is Ray, at RMS Garage. 👍🏼 Anyway onwards and upwards, you will get there in the end with a unique car! 😎
If the owner did not disclose the issues, name and shame, good luck with the build though
Totally agree take them to small claims courts, it was missold. Likely he won't show at court and will have the repo men lift his car. That'll teach him

Would be the crv parts, as you need crv suspension parts to make it awd

Not surprised the head is ok just needs a hotwash or aqura blasting a set of guides, head skim pressure check and the valves cleaning and seats re-cutting to each valve. Are they Datron sleaves or just a block strenghen rings ? the rod yes looks like a spun bearing for sure and yes its been used for sure lesson learnt Jamie !

Honestly I feel your pain Jamie my corsa saab build I did a full series on it bought it as a built car apparently perfect ripper got me 50mile home before cutting out and finding more issues ended up having to pull it all apart and start again, I learnt trust no one👊

@@zaink7037 yeah possibly bought it just before Christmas, sorted it all out over Christmas fully rebuilt it had wrong map for set up ect full build is on my channel seen of rs3s since
Been there with buying second hand forged engines. Once bought a 'fully forged d16z6' after a month it blew a ringland and upon inspection had stock pistons 🙃 we had sump etc off to check rods and bolts too and seing ARP and eagle expected great things 😁💥
Get rid of the crv control arms and get s1 built or hub city rear control arms. You also need to reinforce the floor where the viscous coupler will go.

nothing worse than being mugged off especially on a special car . I went for the dream of owning a old school ford long story short got mugged off so much financially it nearly split me and my family up lost 1000s and didn't even get the car done . to many muggy people out there after a quick buck
Hey Jamie, can I ask, for a fully forged Honda engine how come you didn't have a look at someone like Spoon? I know they sell engines by the crate, would you not be better getting one from those guys? As you know it's done by the best and will be spot on.

Same thing happened to me, I bought a second hand forged engine and its toast....now im having my last spare block machined and rebuilt with forged internals. Yes its expensive, but at least it will work! Honda life J

The good the bad an the ugly. Unfortunately theres a lot of dishonest ppl out there but it's a good example of how cutting corners can end up with a bigger cost. Onwards an upwards tho an at least u know your gonna end up with a good solid engine 👍

I have a feeling this has hindered the dc5's handling capability and rawness? As Honda them selves have worked so hard on this chassis to make it a good handling car. Personally i don't know how i feel about this 🤔😂 i do love the dc5, its just such a weapon out of the box.
This 4wd can mess with the cars geometry and maybe chassis rigidity aswell?
I hate to be that guy, because I rate Honda they make awesome engines. But two knackered engines, that were both converted to run turbo's. Got to say this, but Honda intended the K20a and the K20A2 to be naturally aspirated. The F20C (and F22C) engines on the other hand, came with forged engine internals from the factory and were built to go into a rwd configuration.
