  • This video shows you how to assemble a Sky sytle zone 1 mini-dish which is commonly used for Sky & Freesat installations in the UK. This is an elipical 43cm satellite dish wihich can also be used for Astra 1 reception at 19.2E here in the south of Engalnd aswell as for receivcing broadcasts from 28.2E.
    If you need to install a satellite dish for Sky or Freesat in the north of England zone 2 satellite which is a slightly bigger version for compensate for the weaker satellite signals.
    The same satellite dish can also be used

    Hi Tom i found this really helpful as I bought a sky dish of amazon and I lost the instructions. Thanks for the video also a quick question I have put the sky dish on the wall I’m still waiting for the pole to arrive but the signal is poor and I was wondering if it still doesn’t have good signal maybe I need a zone 2 sky dish but I only live in the west of England.

    Your videos are good but I always wonder what is the mm aim purpose of the holes on the rear bracket which are between the nuts holding the dish at the back and the the holes for the pole? I know the dish can be bolted onto these holes by making it it shorter but nowhere online people say their uses.

    Thanks for this really helpful.
    I've checked dishpointer and it suggests an elevation of 24.1 and a LNB screw of - 13.4.
    I believe these dishes have an offset which means I don't actually need to move it 24 1. Do you know what he offset is?
    To adjust the scew do I simply unscrew the LNB and twist it until I see myself at - 13.4?

    • @smartaerials
      @smartaerials  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jason. Yes they are offset dishes so no need to point them at the sky.
      On the side of the dish there are some degree markings by the elevation locking bolt. Obviously this is assuming that the dish is mounted level so you may need to play around a little for peak reception.
      Yes just turn the skew to angle suggested,

    • @smartaerials

    We've just cancelled our skyQ subscription. Was thinking to go Freesat with the old sky+ hd box but just found out that the LNB will have been changed by sky when they connected us to SkyQ. Would you say replacing the SkyQ LNB with a Zinwell J4S Quad LNB for Freesat/Sky Mk4 would sort it?

    • @smartaerials
      @smartaerials  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be able to, but you might find that the Sky Q holder supports a 40mm LNB collar size and the Quad LNB has a 38mm collar. This isn't always the case though, you will know if it feels loose in the holder.

And so has my girl friend so we have two boxes one up stair and one down stairs .does that mean I will run 4 X cable from the lmb for both boxes ,we live in the south east of the U.K. .And will need a quad lmb .cant mount on the front of the house so the garden is the only option ,this is what I can see others have done but that mean more cable ,so maybe a bigger dish more gain thanks Steve .

    Hi, I have Sky Q and want to leave and use the Freesat built in to my TV,
    I changed the lead from the Sky Q box to the Satellite input on my TV, did a autotune and it picked up around 160 channels, the EPG shows all the channel listings and programmes but for some reason I have no signal even though it apparently found all these channels?? Any help is appreciated.

    • @smartaerials
      @smartaerials  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, yes it's to do with the type of LNB you have on your satellite dish and the type of LNB that you're TV thinks that you have. The TV will send certain commands to the LNB to select what channels you want to watch, but the Sky Q LNB doesn't work like this and also the frequency ranges are different. You will need to replace the Sky Q wideband LNB for a Quad LNB on your satellite dish. I hope this helps, Tom
