      I think you need one, would make a good sun shade for your feet whilst sloping. Seriously though, I can't fault it, flies like a big pelican. Smooth and efficient.

    Evening Andrew
    Nice easy build, man a little glue here and there and they just pop together now a days, NOT like the old days when you HAD to build them, I remember them days. THAT'S a monster sir, I like that FX-79, those Fpv wings are starting to peak my interest.
    Thank you and ...
    See you in the air.

    Thanks for another excellent video. What kind of "fabric"/clear tape is that? The tape you put over teh wing servo cables and such? (Couldn't quite hear what you said).

      Hey Bill, it's Scotch Tough Tape, transparent fibre reinforced tape.

    Good job on the video! I have an FX79 and love it. Long distance FPV only. I use a 3542 1000KV motor and an 80 Amp ESC. For some reason, both units heat excessively. I have tried everything I can think of. ....other than installing the ESC on the outside of the aircraft. I finally sourced a 12 volt dc fan and provide a 2200 mah battery each flight to power it. That seems to control the heat.....however I have never ever experienced this before. Granted warming up is pretty traditional but the ESC would be too hot to hold your finger on it after five minutes of low speed flying. I just don't get it. Any thought? You ever experience anything like this?

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's odd. ESC timing maybe? Tight bearings on the motor?

    Ok I'm convinced, i want and will get one. I read that it has great lift so I gotta do a GPS/ return to home on it along with a nicely priced long range system. I can't do anything too expensive, does any have suggestions on a long range system $150 or less?

    • @AndrewNewton

      I'm not into long range but it is a great wing for that.

    Anything else i need to know Andrew?
    Good deal on Banggood today on this wing. 20% off. So i treated myself.
    Also ordered motor and esc. Can't wait to get it.
    O yes, good job, I watched, as i forgot long servo extension leads.
    Ill go order them now. 👍

      Nice one Keith, it's actually very simple, just BIG. But very well behaved in the air. Launching takes a decent throw and it loves to glide so landings are long.

    Interested in knowing how to launch this safely. I just healed up my index finger from a pusher prop. And it's a finger that barely works now. I ordered one of these. Just trying to mentally figure out how to fly it by myself. No cliffs where I live. Using a DX6i I don't think I can use a switch for on and off.

      Best of luck, looks like a winner. If you don't mind a little reptile you can use a hair dryer to heat the bajesus out of stuff to loosen hot glue. You can melt servo horns, but when the servo is shot I remove the horn and grab with vice grips and get out the hair dryer.

    it's begging for an autopilot Andrew..😀. BTW launch with the motor off as the prop WILL get you eventually. I have my left rear switch as a safety switch. the easiest way is put on the safety switch and advance the throttle. Launch the wing then turn on the switch as soon as it leaves your hand. This is easier than advancing the throttle. With an autopilot you just have an autotakeoff set with a delay for acceleration.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually side arm launch or toss then throttle up, but might be difficult with this monster

    • @laurentpastorelli1354
      @laurentpastorelli1354 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      toss it from a cliff.... and then punch the throttle!

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I like the way you think

    • @stephengloor8451
      @stephengloor8451 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew Newton - I always launch side arm as well however with this size plane it is almost impossible to hold the plane straight with one wing. We used a short bungee with our X8 which is another option. I suggested the safety switch only because I find it easier to turn a switch before the plane hits the ground from a throw rather than advancing the throttle.
