Pongali! A classic Andhra Pradesh dish, typically made during the harvest festival of Sankranti. There are two types of Pongali: Sweet Pongali (Chakkara Pongali) and Savory Pongali (Ven Pongali). Here's a simple recipe for Sweet Pongali:
    Ingredients:
    - 1 cup rice
    - 1 cup moong dal (split green gram)
    - 2 cups water
    - 1 cup jaggery
    - 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
    - 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder
    - 2 tablespoons ghee
    - Cashews and raisins for garnish
    Instructions:
    1. Rinse the rice and moong dal together and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
    2. Drain the water and cook the rice and dal mixture in 2 cups of water until it's soft and mushy.
    3. In a separate pan, melt the jaggery in a little water to make a syrup.
    4. Add the cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, and ghee to the jaggery syrup and mix well.
    5. Combine the cooked rice and dal mixture with the jaggery syrup and mix well.
    6. Garnish with cashews and raisins.
For Savory Pongali, you can replace the jaggery with salt and add other ingredients like ginger, green chilies, and curry leaves to the dish.
