To be quite honest, I’m sick & tired of Jill Valentine not getting her spotlight. While she was brought back for RE3 remake, chronologically she has not been in the main entry series since RE5 back in “2009!” Seriously! Bring her back! Claire Redfield deserves her spotlight as well if I’m gonna be fair.

I think Village 1st person gameplay was really fun, but after playing the remake, I probably have to agree with 3rd person being more fun and better suited.
First person is better imo. More intense.

Been playing RE since 2002 and I gotta say I really hope Leon isn’t the protagonist as we’ve yet to see a mainline game starring Jill or Claire or any of the sides characters Barry, Carlos, Billy etc. I’m exhausted constantly seeing their poster boy Leon as he’s already in 3 of them excluding remakes

Finally someone uses that word correctly. I'm kinda sick of people using it for re8 and evil within 2. Both games that have hardly any less linearity to them than any traditional survival horror. Pretty much every classic survival horror since the original resident evil had far more openness and far less linearity than ev2 and re8. God of War however actually has a ton of optional side stuff that effects the story.

I would like a playground more akin to the dead rising series. A multilayered open map that doesn"t spread too wide but have multiple secret passages and event to uncover.

I love this series and own all the games, yet I think the Revelations games and Code Veronica were the worst.
I feel like people that say shit like this have never played code veronica... The story and game overall was very meh and with how the remakes are making the story and dialog more bland itll be shit if they remake it. Steve would probably be boring af
few years ago there was also a fanmade team remaking re1 and code veronica on 3rd person, and when capcom saw its getting attention shut them down, so i wouldnt be surprised if its re1 or CV remake

I thought Chris would be main character gameplay on next Re game which is 9 but I think Leon would be good in Re9 as main character, the next time when Helena told him to see her again. Or either mia or rose would be main character in Re9 where they'll continue story after the father of winters family named Ethan has ended the story.
Leon and ada co op? Where they finally explore their relationship and either they get together or come to terms with the fact that their jobs come first to them or all main characters jill chris claire leon ada ethan etc are a team working together and we get missions with all of them

I think "open world" could mean a more exolorable version of the RE4:Re Villiage area and even castle area. Imagine the possible level designs...

Open world is find, as long as the world size matches the games scope. I don't want a bunch of fetch quests or dead areas. And you actually don't need a whole lot of room if the area is well designed.

I feel like what makes the RE games consistently great is that they are linear focused. Making it fully open world would decrease that consistent anxiety you feel playing these games, in my opinion, making the focus less on story and more on exploration. While I don’t doubt they are capable of crafting a fully realized world to explore, detracting too much from the main story might work against them, especially for a horror-based storyline.

I love how The Evil Within 2 was mentioned here. I think it isn't an open world but more of an open area. It felt like an actual survival horror. But do not be fooled as it is still a linear experience. Because as you progress through the game you won't be able to go back to the early areas. I hope RE9 somehow pulls the open area feel.
