One thing for certain - Graeme does a great job narrating what we are seeing during his work. Most of us viewers have no experience whatsoever with livestock, yet we all are learning to recognize some very specific details I bet never crossed our minds before. I’m glad most trims are routine and uneventful, which means the cows are well cared for and pain free.

If they are what I think they are, then theyre accelerometers. Devices which can measure how the cow is walking and help pick up on any issues or changes.

    • @blue_boy8621

Blue with the block serves most of the time 2 purposes. 1st is a ID, so the parlor computer know who she is, 2nd as mentioned below heat detection...
Red is kind of universal in the dairy industry for waiting time milk. You can milk in a separate container but you can not sell it, due to treatments with antibiotics (which are not to be given willy nilly)
Any other colours are farm specific, like yellow is a heifers and she need training in the parlor. Green maybe don't rebreed, cull cow. The list can go on. It came to be like this because to be frankly honest the farmers (as humans) would lose track of the cows
      Lengthy but hope it helped

Typically if there’s bleeding. The magical paste or powder help dry up the area and form a scab over the wound to let it heal. The same way if we get a scrape, we’ll put some cream and a bandaid over it to give it time to heal.
The corrium that he always talks about is what forms the hoof horn. The same way we have a nail bed that forms our fingernails and toenails, and continuously grows out from there. If you break your nail in the middle, it’ll hurt but not cause much damage or pain. If you rip your entire nail off or cause injury to the nail bed at the base, you’re going to do a lot more to it to help it heal correctly and keep it protected from outside elements.
