I used to have a rain stick but I lost it at some point (I think it was during a move). Anyway... I've been wanting another one but this seems like a good alternative. Very cool! I wasn't even aware these existed. Thanks for educating me.
Glad to help 😁 They are so cool, and I think a better alternative to the rain stick if you're wanting continuous sound since there's never that "flip" moment
I was curious about these when I ordered the 16 inch Remo buffalo drum recently. Since I live 20 minutes from the ocean I chose the buffalo drum. But I really like the ocean drum. Remo needs to make a howling wind drum. I would love that!
@@MusicalMollyKhan I really enjoyed doing gourd art, but it became a job when I started showing at a gallery and killed the fun. Stopped doing it a few years ago, but hoping to get back to it.
What kind of mic do you use? I also produce music and the sound picked up really nice; wondering if the mic makes a difference in picking up the ambiance of the drum.
Great question! Actually for these videos I simply record with the onboard mic from my Pixel 4. I have tried a couple other setups, but audio isn't my forte and the difference in sound wasn't large enough to justify the extra work that went into it for me 😅
@@MusicalMollyKhan well your video convinced me to get it and it just arrived today. Such a beautiful sound! I live near the ocean and this still gives me good vibes to be able to hear it contained within a musical vessel. Thank you again. :)
I bought the 12-inch ocean drum with the fish graphic, thinking my 2-yr-old granddaughter would enjoy watching the beads roll (she's leary of my 39-inch rain stick) but the sound is definitely too harsh and doesn't really sound like the ocean (I live 5 minutes away). I'm going to return it.
I absolutely love all of your beautiful Reviews and the educational information you give as well!!! I would love to connect with you, I am running a Retreat for at risk Indigenous youth, and would love some more ideas
I really am injured! I cut my finger pretty badly slicing an apple stupidly and I am so lucky it didn't do any real damage. The cut is healing up nicely though! 😊
@@MusicalMollyKhan You could do what Genghis Khan always did. Just get gun powder, rub it in the cut, light it on fire, let it burn off for the few seconds it takes to burn off, tie a rag around it. Wait about a day or 2. Healed. :) But please next time be more careful :)
Love these wave drums and nice to see such genuine joy in a person

@@MusicalMollyKhan Excellent point.
I decided to buy this instead of the cheap amazon version because of you. Super excited for this to arrive :D
I need this instrument in my life 🥰
She’s awesome!

Oh that would be amazing! 😊
Love the drum heads. I used to make these using large gourds and goat skin rawhide. They can be very relaxing.
That sounds like an amazing hobby! 😊

just ordered a Meinl 'wave ' drum.
Are you holding the 16” it looks bigger. Would this give enough sound fur a group sound bath or would you recommend the bigger one?

Almost like a traffic sound in the city. Guess that can be relaxing, too. 😅
Haha, I love it! Different strokes for different folks I suppose 😁
That thing is cool!
