Nice vid. At the end of the day, gold is gold. No matter how little you got, it was a day spent with nature, and away from the rat race of everyday life :-)
Was up at seventynine the other day. Way up there near its headwaters. I took a drive on the upper road through the gate. The upper road was washed out where it crosses one of the branches of 79, but I did find some nice new places to pan. Also I did this vid a favour by sharing it a few places. Hence the views. Hope all is well.
Hi my friend, yes all is well but I'm working a lot these days so very little time to play. I hope that you're gearing up to find some cool adventures this year.
hehe atleast you found something!! I want to give this a try one day! Currently in mission right now for a week but sadly no transportation to go unless I walk for hours. haha
Great video, thanks for posting it. I also live in the GVRD and enjoy panning for gold. Let me know if you would like some company one day. Have you ever encountered any bears or cougars when you've been out panning?
I've been up to 79 before and found squat. No wonder there are no placer claims. It IS open for placer claims. The panning reserve in hope is way-way better btw. Good luck getting your gas money back in gold there too. Mind you anywhere along the Fraser even in Vancouver there is gold dust, more then i found in that place anyways.
Probably 15-20 shovels, but that was really a poor result for me but yes it is a very spotty creek to work. Though on the other hand it is as close as one can get to Vancouver, B.C. and still find a picker or a nugget on a good day of prospecting. If gas was free I'd go to the Fraser river as the previous poster has mentioned.
I was trying to get down that creek the other day. Where did you enter the bush off the dirt road if you dont mind me asking? I ended up climbing down the rocks on the SW Side of the bridge and then following the creek down its banks.
almost 11 years ago i know the exact creek and the exact location i have prospected in the area but i did not find anything then again i didnt know then what i know now i will be going soon to have another look see
Great video, is that up sylvester rd or is it the other side of the lake? We go shooting up sylvester sometimes but I dont think you can actually get down to Stave there
Michael i know that secret location of yours in the stave lake because I have a gold claim et seventy nine creeks so when I visualized your vidèo and use your longititude and latitude I get lost because I do not know if that latitude is 47 degre or 49 degre, but I remember when my eyes were good I did write them somewhere in my papers , you I will try to there again from now wednesday Feb 25, 2015 until I find gold , for me it's my living
@@mwenelikyokeloecibalungu3797 all claims on 79 creek have now expired i have do not see a single claim on that creek on mineral titles online open season now
@morph1554 Also there is a chance the bedrock you were working was cleaned out as bedrock is the target of choice for most who go in there. Sounds like luck was not shining on you that day. Perhaps next time. Hope the elbow is better.
It really isn't an easy creek to work and it is really, really spotty. You can find gold on one side for 10 feet and then nothing within sight for the rest of the day. Though saying that, gold is almost never in sight. It's actually at the bottom, under several feet of gravels and in this creek that's hard to get to because of the size of the boulders. I have moved a few 4 footers and there is gold under the right ones,
Some say that the gold on crown land and some reserves is to great to allow private individuals to mine. Assays were done and Canada's gold reserves for the economy are only open to panning by hand. All the free miners squatting claims would want to threaten tourists camping in our province I am sure but no one gets thier cars taken or shovels and pan if "caught". They may get asked to move on at best, be worried about sketchy dudes growing pot on their claims they are a hazzard.
I have a miners claim around that area. Better have your BC miners certificate, and permission to pan there. I know other claim owners that have claims in that area, and they don't take kindly to trespassers. So beware.
Michael Barnes your secret location creek does not have gold I was there right where you were and around but nothing was found , nada , rien ,zéro, nehi , riengos. I don't know where did you get your gold not in that creek , no wonder you didn;t want to show us what was in black sand , I got a lot every where but zero gold in, , I prefer to travel to Hope and Yale because anyone can see gold with his ayes not in your secret location. stave lake ,February 26 ,2015 Thursday
i am a licensed free miner i did my research on MTO and there is only a single mineral claim on this creek and no placer claims to date which should not have any one panning on it unless they have permission and for the respect of the claim owner which im sure paid a fair amount for the claim and could be there way of making a living with that being said i am going to try my luck on this creek far away from the mineral claim and if anyone else is going to try panning here as well i would suggest you do the same and have your FMC .I have a large claim on the fraser and i would not want a single shovel of dirt taken from there without my permission as i paid almost 3000$ for my claim and is my way of making a living I hope this settles the dispute and clears up any unknowns for anyone who wants to try panning here good luck prospectors and take care
Michael I guess since 2010 till now Wednesday Feb 25 . 2015 you made a couple of thousands dollars, no wonder why you didn't want people to know the location., but you forget that it's not everybody who want to go in the bush, it was much better to let others to know , so that they can go to stretch theirs muscles because panning and digging are not easy, is a tough exercise.
Hey guys, i am just looking for a place to wash for fun. I'm in down town Vancouver. i don't really care for money and stuff.and i dont want to do claim and so on, maybe suggest a spot where i can go and i dont need a permit?please send me a message or if there's a place I can go for a day where i don't need a permit.
Hi Ruchi, Currently as of Jan 2018 this creek (Seventynine creek) has only one mineral claim on it which is about 2 km upstream from the main road that crosses over it so gold panning on this creek is perfectly okay as long as you stay away from that claim. The best chance of finding gold here usually involves digging down to bedrock or clay since the only gold that I've ever found on this creek has clay mixed with it.
I appreciate your input Jamie but there is a difference between a "Placer" claim and a "Mineral" claim. A "Mineral" claim does not allow the rights to the "Placer" material and that's what this video is about. As well there are no "Placer" claims on this creek. If in doubt, contact the Mineral Titles office in person with this query. I understand your views, based on words alone, like "Mineral claim" we would assume that a claim like that would include every mineral in every rock but . . . nope.
Mineral Tenure Act 9 (2) A person must not hand pan on a valid mineral title unless the person receives permission from the recorded holder of the mineral title. While Mineral and Placer claim or leases are independant of each other and a certain area may have both Mineral and Placer claims, allowing the claim holders to mine different materials and methods on the same land, the rules are much more clear for recreational use. Don't do it.
mnbvczxc your are half way to understanding. The mineral claim holder does not have rights to the placer minerals, ^except^ when using hand panning with pan and shovel only, just like recreational panning. That does not make the placer minerals free for you, though. You are still ^not^ allowed to recreational hand pan on a valid mineral title, whether it is a mineral or placer claim/lease, without the permission of the title holder. The title holder can maintain exclusive rights to recreational hand panning on a mineral claim. That is verified by the mto in an email I got in the last hour because I know how stubborn people are, especially when defending their own criminal activities. You won't just take my word for it that you are engaged in criminal activities. Especially if people are trying to get you to stop profiting from it. www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/farming-natural-resources-and-industry/mineral-exploration-mining/documents/mineral-titles/notices-mineral-placer-titles/information-updates/infoupdate2.pdf
It was kinda funny about the GPS co-ordinates, but anyways the easiest way down to this spot is actually by parking at that bridge and heading down the river on the North side. There is a bit of a trail once you get away from the road. You do have to dig down a few feet to some layer other than washed gravels most times, not always. And really, don't take a claim on this spot just because you think that I was dumb enough to tell you where it is. It's really not worth paying the money for and it is much kinder to just let other recreational panners try their hand at a local creek like this. Anyways, that being said, before you go, check to make sure some bastard hasn't claimed the spot first because in their mind they think that you would be claim jumping by panning his mineral claim. There are no placer claims allowed on this creek, or any creek below Hope for that matter.
I have a claim in mission, and I had better not catch you or anyone on my claim without my permission. That goes for my similkameen claims also. Do the right thing if you want to pan outside the public panning reserves, get a BCEID and a free miners certificate, at least that wY you won't Lose your gear (including vehicle) when busted.
You should maybe take the time the read the Mineral Titles act my friend. If you own a claim in Mission then you own a Mineral claim not a Placer claim therefore you do not own the rights to control what will happen to the little round rocks along the creeks in this area. When in doubt call the MTO people to varify this instead of chatting on Larry's forum.
mnbvczxc you keep telling people to contact mto but it's clear to see you haven't done that yourself or read the mineral tenures act, because you only have half the story and ignore the other half that says you are wrong and a criminal. You better pull this video or start making some apologies because it is evidence of a crime and if I see any more of this bs I'll push mto to enforce the law.
Lol!!!! You really just showed your coordinates to everyone!!!! I bet that spot is dug to china by now lol.....FYI never show anybody where you find your gold! Its the first rule in the book.
You are giving some misleading information here, better check the law. You state that a person does not need to have a license to Pan in B.C, that is correct, but ONLY on public panning reserves (google for locations) it was also mentioned that there are no placer claims in the area you showed in your video, though I could not clearly read the coordinates on your gps, a lot of the area near where you were is under claim, mineral, not placer, none the less, claimed. I have a claim in the missio
There are other areas where recreational hand panning are allowed, but you're right, this is not one of them, he actually said that someone has a mineral claim on the area so he is wilfully trespassing but argues that it is not illegal because it's not placer claims. He is wrong.
Ya that would be Larry Amey, he's a armchair speculator that likes to flog worhtless claims to folks that either are inactcessable or totally worthless......Greywolf
Michael is not five minutes is less than that you just want to confuse us , u know this location of yours if I reach it I will make money because for me it is not a hobby like Michael , is a business , looking making money for living , anytime I finf it I will work five days a week for three month.
Yes there are "Mineral claims" on this creek but they only own the rights to the bedrock minerals. In the last few years the owner of the largest prospecting forum in BC has been pushing the concept that a mineral claim under certain circumstances owns the placer rights as well. This has never been true and can be varified by contacting Mineral titles with the question. I have figured that he has been building this rumour based on the fact that he wants to sell his "mineral claims" to newbies :0
You have a mineral claim you need to call mto anyone can hand pan on a mineral claim all the mto asks of you is to do your due diligenceand let the mineral claim owner know you will be up there that day hand panning. If you all need info call mto.
hook d that is not exactly right. In fact it could be said to be completely wrong. You make it seem like you have a right to pan and all you have to do is give notice. Wrong. You have to ask permission and if they say no, keep away.

Michael do you think this secret creek of yours can be worked on in winter or is just good for summer time.
hey was wondering where you get the gold pans at
@morph1554
You really have to know what you are doing and where to look on this creek, You need to move lots and lots of ground!
nice, do you need any kind of license to go panning ? can you go on any river ?
how much gold did u find up there
That looks kind of fun! Don´t u carry a gun for bears?? And are there people on van island that does this for a living??
Watch the hits on this vid start to climb..Hope all is well.
