OMFG I HAD NO IDEA THERE WAS A TERM FOR THIS!!
That was my primary form of hallucinations when I experienced psychosis regularly. Holy shit, thank you so much for creating your channel & this community. 💕

I didn't know it has a name... I had this several times! I would turn my head to the "person" almost angry, like thinking "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU LOOKING AT???" LOL! It stopped since I started my meds

I have this type of hallucination due to OCD! I also have auditory and tactile quasi-hallucinations, so hallucinations without a psychotic component. I never knew there was a term for the “I’m not alone” type of hallucinations until a year ago when I was diagnosed. It’s such a strange and confusing sensation. It’s like being watched but not in a threatening way, and not a good way, just.. being watched

This is an older video but I experience this same type of hallucination pretty much everyday, its terrifying 🥲
the most common occurrence for me is this tall person who stands in specific parts of my house (bedroom, living room, laundry room). He just stands there and stares at me, doesn't feel very friendly though.
Another time I get this hallucination is when I'm walking through hallways at school, except this time I can "feel" someone walking very close behind me (I sometimes hear shuffling noises as well), its very distressing since I very often have persecutory delusions.
Thank you for talking about this type, I rarely hear any mentions of it !

When it happens to me I almost wish it would talk or do something other than that feeling of just staring, because it’s just so creepy and scary at times. But it’s never done that. Kinda the whole point of that kind of hallucination lol. When it happens at work I can do my best to ignore it (the same feeling of it being someone behind me just staring) but it’s like… so unerving. Even when it’s not freaking me out it’s still distracting and I just want it to leave. Even if it’s doing nothing but… be there. Regardless, glad I could help you feel less alone. Stay strong 💪

I have this hallucination of a person named Jack. I've had him around mostly as a visual hallucination, but he has grown more auditory as time has gone by. I've had him for 15 years now, and recently he's been doing this "hide-and-seek" thing where I feel him around, but when I turn around, he's not there. Then he pops up from behind corners or at the end of my bed, nonchalantly as if he hadn't been playing his game with me all day. Thank you for talking about this topic-- I was really feeling alone in this but now feel a bit better about it. :)

I had brain damage 10 years ago. I have hallucinations. Most often black orbs that fly around, sometimes land on my hand. It doesn't bother me. They are real, to me.

    • @SchizoKitzo

I love how vividly you described extracampine hallucinations using your own personal example! And I can only imagine how scary it must have been to feel like you were being watched but not see anyone there. I'm glad that over time, you got used to it and knew that you could just wait for it to go away. I also like the point you made about how real hallucinations are in the moment for the person experiencing them. Thanks so much for taking us through how real this one is for you and what it feels like.

I was so shocked to see there was a name for this kind of thing. Every now and then it still hits me, and I always turn around and there's never anyone there, and there (hopefully) will never be anyone there. Like part of me hopes that it's not all in my head but the other part goes "plz only be in my head" given the nature of it. Thanks for this!

I have hallucinations that affect three senses. I feel my phone vibrate. Occasionally I hear simple phrases like my name. Mostly, however, my hallucinations are visual. Sometimes extreme, usually not. I have one reoccurring delusion, but I don't talk about it because it seems to strengthen when I focus on it.
I actually enjoy my visual hallucinations. I am lucky in that when they are occurring, which is common, I know they are not real. I think this is partially due to when I started having them. They started showing up in my early 40's along with a severe sleep disorder. If I had been having them since before completing the development of executive function, I suspect it would have been more difficult to separate reality from fiction.

Wow, yeah I have quite amount of hallucinations. Although I still lead them up to reality. Difficult for me to face the fact that they are not real. This video helps me in finding people w/ similar hallucinations.

I didn’t know there was a name, a specific name for this type of hallucination. When I was about 10 I was trying to sleep one random night and while under the covers I could sense a presence! This presence was just looking at me while I was covered. I deliberated as to what to do, so after about 10 minutes or so I pulled the covers away and who or what ever it was just went away.

When I found out the name for it I was also like, “what there is a NAME for this????” Hence why I made the video. Glad it helped!

I also had a similar experience that something was watching me from the corner of my room. When I look to see what it was. I felt my skin burning so I ran out of my room and then I felt normal again like nothing happened it was super weird

    • @SchizoKitzo
      @SchizoKitzo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

That is weird! It’s kinda crazy what kinds of tricks our minds can play on us. Things can be very very real in the moment and then when things “go back to normal” it’s like, wait what? Thanks for telling me this too. Very interesting how others experience this kind of thing!

Have a friend who was in a psych ward and in group therapy, he saw Einstein in the floor, laughing, mocking and saying, “You think you’re as smart as me? You’re not!” Very unsettling.

I am so glad that I am not the only one with this type of hallucination. But for me unfortunately it does not go away on its on if I dont change my place and its TERRIFYING. It happends to me every single day and no amount of dosage makes it go away. Thank you for this video because now I know I am not the only one

I don’t necessarily have hallucinations, but I struggle greatly with anxiety and OCD-like intrusive thoughts, which in the moment can make it incredibly difficult to discern what is “real” versus what is being exacerbated/fabricated as a result of my heightened anxiety.

I know someone who sees dark people or animals or maybe just shapes out of the corner of her eye and they might be just watching her but it seems to only happens when she is anxious. Also, she never knew she heard voices until she was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. She thought everyone had voices in their heads and voices that berated them. She remembers having voices before entering daycare.

That's happened to me before, they weren't hallucinations for me though. They're entities.

I saw this thing with a long white neck, painted on face, wooden stilts for legs, and a pinkish body, I think it had some sort of pink dress on. This was when I was tapering off of Risperidone and onto Seroquel.
Also saw a nurse walk into my room, say "I'm leaving what I take home, I'm leaving what I take home" and vanish. Both of these hallucinations were while I was in a supposedly haunted treatment center. Multiple other people had seen the nurse according to staff and she'd allegedly help people in the treatment center through their struggles. To my knowledge I was the only one that saw the figure with stilts for legs though.
Onetime I was in the shower the voice/s(Mostly just one but sometimes I hear others or I hear similar sounding voices to the main voice, they also used to refer to themselves as a we) in my head reminded me that I was wasting water, and wasting water was the furthest thing from my conscious mind.
Sometimes they'll say "if (X), that would be one hell of a bruh moment". Also they can make my muscles twitch at will when they are upset. And sometimes cause me to shed tears as well, usually under similar conditions that trigger the twitching. I've had them comment on the food I've eaten, I suppose they really like hot wings, which is at least one thing we agree on. For awhile they'd say "HUH!?" after everything. Saying things like "STILL THINK YOUR SICK HUH!?", "STILL THINK WE'RE NOT REAL HUH", "THINK IT'S OKAY TO THINK SLURS IF IT'S AN INTRUSIVE THOUGHT HUH!?" (I used to struggle with a lot of racist intrusive thoughts, which I felt horrible about), and after I asked them what/who they even were they said "WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO KNOW HUH!?". I'd tell them to leave and they'd say "I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE". Sometimes they'd make statements and still finish the sentence with HUH!?. Despite it being a statement rather than a question.
Prior to being hospitalized I had a vision of a black SUV driving down my street (probably they police cruiser coming to 5150 me), followed by a vision of hospital doors opening, followed by what sort of looked like the interior of the psych ward I'd eventually end up in. This happened literally while my family was dialing 911, but at the time I didn't know they were in the process of having me hospitalized
If it matters at all my psychosis is either schizophrenia/schizoaffective or it's cannabis/amphetamine induced. In the psych ward the doctors diagnosed me with Schizoaffective Bipolar, but my current psychiatrist thinks its likely drug induced psychosis or potentially schizophrenia.
