I have to say your videos, along with like 2 other pages, have absolutely changed my game. I actually wanted to get serious, and I went from 1300 to 1600 in about 2 weeks. This was after really paying attention and learning the theories for a little over 2 months. Doing the development, castle, and putting my rooks in communication, and then actually checking for blunders, tactics, threats, etc. I have noticed my vision of the board has greatly increased, to the point where I'm seeing what my opponents are trying to plot. Keep it up, bro. May the Lord bless you.
Love this opening! I used to play the stonewall setup with white a long time ago and therefore lots of thanks to GM Igor for showing me some new and improved ways to play this opening!

I first heard the parable of the boiling frog during the plandemic 4 years ago. Well, the globalists who rule us are losing patience and accelerating certain agendas, which is why many people are escaping the system :)
Quick technical feedback: With high-quality headphones (Sony XM5), your movements, like resting your hands at 3:34, create strong bass vibrations. It was so pronounced I thought the neighbors upstairs were stomping around and took them headset off to check. Amazing content as always-thanks, GM Smirnov!
Tried this opening immediately after watching the video and I actually won! It usually takes me two or three games to get used to a new opening but it worked like a charm. Thanks Igor!
Love this opening. I play the colle and the zuckertort and this is the same attacking strategy. Basically I have 3 ways to open this attack now. Thanks
This works! First game I tried after watching the video I played an 1800 and I absolutely crushed him. Although I did have to deviate and recapture his knight with my f pawn instead. But I absolutely enjoyed it. I had my position on lockdown completely I felt in total control about being able to choose when I wanted to open the board up when obv it was most beneficial to me
There are several counters. Of course Black has to recognize the intention of the opening earlier than later, which should be clear by whites 4th move... So black… A7-A5, B7-B6, C8-A6 frees the bishop. Instead of using bishop to defend the knight Vs knight, use Queen. But, getting the bishop to A6 sooner prevents this. Not making suicide move pawn C5-C4 buys time for Pawn A5, Pawn B6, Bishop A6
@@WalkerBrown-t6z It does stop plans. There is no h7 target anymore, I found the fianchetto annoying enough that I gave up this opening. It lost its bite.
So, I just used this against slightly higher rated opponent. Looked a bit different, as he did not have his bishops developed, and he decided to trade knights at e5 then bring out the queen. It resulted in absolute carnage, after which I promoted 2 pawns and he resigned. So, yeah, I like it, thank you!
What if 1.d4 d5 2.e3 Bf5!! and then they can basically trade our Strong light squared bishop for their light sqaured bishop and they set up a reverse london system ?
which is better the colle system: Rubenstein variation or this? im currently using colle system that you upload maybe last year or i don't know i forgot
Very cool to have another system video! I have started experimenting with it. With respect to your dutch f5 b6 system, it seems all my white opponents seems to fianchetto their g-bishop, neutralizing the b7 bishop. Any ideas for that? It's still playable but an update would be cool. Love these systems. As well as the Latvian and Halloween, my house openings. Probably in your Halloween video you have some statistics/ideas from me, been playing that for 15 years, from the time I wrote computer chess program Tao ;-)
You still have your dark side bishop, centralize it, and you’re still dangerously attacking. Queen side castling isn’t as safe. Just don’t go sacking stuff too quick
What happens if Black doesn't block in his light squared bishop with e6 in the early opening and instead plays Bg4 attacking our queen? How do you handle that, when your f-pawn has already been played out to f4, following the normal "boiling frog" move sequence?
there are may permutations as how this plays out using this opening. I've been using the 'stone wall' opening and maybe 50% it works out as explained. Ex. if Black pawn moves to e5 the whole structure and strategy falls apart and your on your own. let's see if this comment survives
I have an anoying number of opponents that play an early bishop to f5 before I can get my light square bishop to d3. I have started checking their King on b5 which they usualy defend with a pawn. I then go bishop to c3 and they either take or I end up taking them on g6 after they move backward. Is there any better approach? I haven't found anyone covering this line in thier stone wall lessons.
The check is bad because defending with a pawn is good for them. I suggest switching tactics to prove the bishop is offside. 3. c4, then moves like Nc3, and Qb3 attacking b7, and complete development with Nf3 Bd2 Rc1 and castle. If black ever plays dxc4 then Bxc4 and if not, then Be2 or sometimes cxd5 and Bb5 make sense. This is not GM-level advice, but it makes sense to me.
If instead of Bg4 at 10:11 they play Nb4 attacking your bishop before there is a possible escape to c2, what do you suggest? By the way I’ve used the Stonewall Attack many times to great effect & I even have a book on it, but it’s all dependent on them castling K-side. I play the same opponents many times in daily games rather than blitz or similar. They soon figure out ways to avoid the pitfalls & they’re not even 1500 rating (& neither am I). However I have benefited lately from your aggressive style of play without needing to rote-remember anything. I don’t think you realise how good some players are who are still well under 1500. Especially when given plenty of time to think about moves. Just an observation.
Chess is never as simple as they tell us in videos, but on the other hand it is good to know those attacking patterns because they show up again and again when you are a d4 player. Not necessarily Stonewall Attack but also Colle and London System offers such opportunities. And then you have some quick wins with sharp attacks.
That's a reason I have always played 2...Nc6 against 2 e3. They I just play for ...e5, come what may. I have found that people who play these system opening do terribly once the position opens up because they are worse at tactics than people who play open games at the same level. Their openings are sound, of course, but their thinking is almost strictly positional pattern recognition.
I played the stonewall a lot when i started out (i got no wins 😂)but now i only use the Jobava London as white...itscmy go to winning opening and the one I'm most damiliar with
In chess, both bishops and knights would be very deadly if we don't careful. I ever put the rook or queen on the square where bishops can capture them, this is the most stupid blunder which makes me lose. Also, the knights can unexpectedly attack the king and rook/queen at the same time.
You can play for f5 to rip open the center if they don't castle. In a queenside castling, remember that usually whoever gets their attack in first wins. A2-a4-a5 seems to be a fairly direct way to open up and get an attack rolling.
is there anyway you can depict from the black's perspective? I tried at health club against the computer, I was black and wasn't able to reverse everything. thanks
@yzfool. Thanks. He is showing c3. He should have shown Bf5 because that is the best move for black according to the engine, and the toughest to deal with when I play these structures
Oh no! I QUIT playing chess over the scandinavian advance and being stuck with the "slav wall" as black after quitting thestonewall attack because I DESPISE closed positions and pawns in my way. I'm much happier with the MOBILITY I have with the hartlaub charlick! I can get my pieces wherever I need them much better with an open center. I am NOT going back to stonewall attack ,but I DID play one the other day against a really annoying french playing opponent in a 3rd game
Its in the same family but it's not Colle because of f4. Its actually a variation of the Bird opening, which is also reversible with Black as the Dutch (I call it the Crow). :D
Its not working. D4, D5, E3, C5 plan collage. D4, D5, E3, BF5...., D4, D5, E3, KC6.... Black can jump earlier on E4 in you lines. Many option to avoid this trans. Very poor opening
I lost 4 games in a row to a 1600 BoT. // 1 d4 Nc6 ;2 e3 e5; 3 c3 exd4; 4 cxd4 d5; Bd3 Qg5; You keep saying it doesn't matter what black plays but that's NOT TRUE.
