Pity the kit is gonna get beat up as hell in a high school. It happened to a beautiful Gretsch kit that mine had and it was heartbreaking.
Edit: I was a bit more of a cynical person when I wrote this, now I'm just happy a highschool got such a nice kit. I do still hope it's okay though.

My high school used to use a pearl session studio classic for the jazz bands now it's the studio kit. (it's the 20" one if your wondering)

I've played since 1974 and that's THE MOST BEAUTIFUL KIT I've EVER seen!!!
They discontinued this color. Lucky for me I was able to get one of the last kits in this color from sweet water. Pictures and video don’t do it any justice this finish is breathtaking. Sounds just as good as it looks.

This has the R30 Anniversary kit Neil Peart drum set color! Without the logo inlets of course but same color pattern.

I bought myself a used 5 Piece Pearl Export and ZXT cymbals when I was 13, my guy. There's really nice used deals everywhere locally and especially online these days, usually theres marks on the shells or whatever but it doesn't impact the actual sound of the drums themselves and you end up spending more on hardware (when you're buying used) than you do on drums themselves.
I'm 30 now and just got this shell pack new, its the first "new" kit Ive ever purchased but its been fine my whole life. Marks on the shells or whatever can be a real turn-off but I've been happily playing my entire life. Burn that young energy to get some chore/lawn/babysitting money and start that garage band
