    I like Roxanne Richardson’s tutorial on picking up stitches. It’s not specific to icord so might not answer all your questions but Roxanne does give good, solid, lucid instructions for how to pick up on verticals, horizontals and slopes. She’s a knitting genius imo 🤗

    Definitely recommend looking up the TECHknitting blog for picking up stitches! (and all other technical knitting related questions honestly). They have an index of all the topics covered over the years and it's phenomenal.

    Many deserved fireworks and sparkles for your progress!🎆🎇✨✨✨
    A quick point about substituting increases: they often look very different from one another. For example, yarn overs (even though the back loop) create little eyelets, while the “back” stitch of a kfb has a little bar that almost looks like a purl stitch. And lifted increases are unique, too! One isn’t inherently better than another, but a pattern designer might have chosen a particular increase very deliberately in order to have a specific visual effect-not only to get to a certain stitch count. Of course, you can ignore the designer’s intent and do what makes you happy. But if you do so, just be aware that this can change the look of the finished object and make the choice consciously. (And if you want to experiment, a swatch is a great place for this!)

      Oh interesting about the purl bump! That would definitely be less obvious on the open fabric of the Cloudbow than it might be on a tighter knit so that’s good to know, thank you! 😄

    TH-cam won't let me add to my previous comment (probably because that has a link and is now in some review queue or something), so commenting again:
    About picking up stitches on a diagonal edge - think about it terms of your gauge to clear it up. Assuming that your edging has a similar gauge as your fabric, count how many columns you have in 4 inches, and your body gauge can tell you how many stitches you need in 4 inches. That will get you a percentage of how many to pick up and translate it into an approximate count like 3 out of 4 etc.
    And while you pick it up, just make sure you picking up under a whole loop (two strands of yarn) - and feel free to skip a stitch or so here and there if ther e are gaps. For me those occur when my edge stitches are loose while knitting flat.

    My current background eternity project (I've been whittling away at it since 2019!) for fingering/sock scraps is a beekeeper's quilt! It's also a really nice little instant gratification project between bigger things - when I have some leftovers I'll knit a handful of hexis (hexiflats, not hexipuffs, personal preference) and then stow them away in the bag with the rest of my hexis. I want a BIG quilt to snuggle up under, so that's why it's taking me so long, the hexis are quite small. I've got 460 of them so far! Dreading sewing them all together 😂

      @@MoonyMcMoonykins can you point us to a flat hexi pattern you like?

      Wow, that’s SO many hexis! Godspeed to you on the assembly phase, that’s going to be a journey and a half 😂

      @@cbtringali6799 I still use the Beekeper's Quilt pattern, I just don't stuff the hexis! I kitchener stitch them closed (though three needle bind-off is also fine, I just like how neat they look with kitchener) so they're still a double layer of knit, just no stuffing ☺

    Great work on the top. It's really cute. I just finished the Oolong Tank, which has i-cord on the neckline (which I did on the sleeves too), and mine looks the same as yours. It has those little dashes, but I think it still looks good. It's not really noticeable unless you're a knitter critiquing your own work.

      You’re 100% right, it’s so subtle! Congrats on finishing your Oolong Tank 😄

    I really love the colour of this garment. Really pretty. Can I suggest trying to do double stitches over the gaps in the fabric to see if that looks better?

    Listening to you talk about modifying the bralette length - if you knit again - i wonder if you could start with a provisional cast on, knit up as designed, then return to the bottom and knit down to desired length and width. Just a thought. Your little blue top is darling!

    • @AliMakesEverything
      @AliMakesEverything  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is actually what I was originally planning to do! Then someone pointed out to me that there would be a jog in the ribbing where it’s offset by half a stitch where the knit switched directions and I thought that would bug me too much 🙈

    • @cbtringali6799
      @cbtringali6799 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AliMakesEverything that makes sense. Maybe you could do a different rib intentionally for a few rows as a bridge. Something to ponder!

    Thank you so much for the recommendation of Maison Stoï! It's in my province and totally my aesthetic, I've been looking for other ceramics in the style of Fable, which is the brand of my mugs, but a bit more rustic. This is perfect! Love the finished top on you

    I think it would have been easier to pick up stitches if you slip the last stitch in each row instead of knitting or purling it. Then it makes a neat edge and you just pick up the two legs of the V for your i cord. ☺️
