    Thanks for this video, this is exactly what I was looking for.
    Just FYI... the instructions for this device say to remove the batteries from the camera (otherwise it is unsafe).

      What if you put a rechargeable battery inside the blink camera? Will it charge it too?

    This solar panel worked for me for at least 4 to 5 years straight , but when I moved I took it down, was not re installed for a few months, did not work anymore. Probably discharged the batteries. So if you take it down, try and keep a regular charge

    The batteries in the camera are isolated from the USB power input (for battery safety) so adding a basic solar panel you are only solar powering the camera during daytime. Its still using internal batteries at night. Changing to rechargeable batteries in the camera won't help as the solar power can't get to the internal batteries. The only true solar panel fix is to use solar panels that contain the rechargeable battery inside the panel itself. Another option is to use an external battery box with rechargeable batteries plugged into the camera's USB port and to have a standard solar panel charge those external batteries.

      This solar panel contains internal battery inside itself for night time or cloudy days, also your correct on isolated. Blink suggest to keep AA there just incase solar goes wrong you have back up.

    I just installed the solar panel and I get a message saying that live view failed. Does anybody know about this issue.?

    The solar panel has a rechargeable battery internally. You should remove the batteries from the camera.

    Did you leave the battery in the camera?

      Yes

      Why did you leave it? As back up? If you take it off will it still work?

    • @NFawc
      @NFawc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@franzdeguzman8197 The solar panel has its own batteries. Leaving the batteries in the Blink will just - I believe - mean the solar panel can charge them up, thus meaning you have even more charge available to the Blink.

    Your menu should show battery as “external” not battery ok when the solar panel and its internal battery are connected properly. I just run the camera with out the two batteries inside the camera.

      I have the same issue. The "external" option doesnt show in my app like on his screen. How do you get this "on"? My app is updated and it still doesnt show. Thanks!!

    Word of advice... avoid Wasserstein Solar Panels for Blink or you'll regret that decision. They have a 3 months warranty. This junk breaks after 3 months and definitely less than a year. Probably in months 4-6 you'll see dead panels. Water gets into these battery encasing easily. Their built quality is horrible as I opened the dead ones and most are flooded inside. Their solar panels breaks down like flakes, literally flakes from their panels. Earlier versions last a bit longer but overall, just poor quality control. I bought some no name brands and they still work as of today. Not Wasserstein. 5 out of 6 already dead...
