    I just got this monitor, No Dead pixels, could have had better setup instructions, But the hard part is the KVM doesn't work well, works initially but key board and mouse are dead on wake from sleep, have to reboot. also during boot the keyboard doesn't register quick enough so I can't get to the boot option unless I have a keyboard plugged into the actual machine. The monitor screen is great but if you want KVM look to getting a real KVM. Need to decide if I will keep and just disable the KVM.

    • @patronautsvirtualworld8155
      @patronautsvirtualworld8155  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I see. The good thing is, people usually don't have to go into bios often. Have you tried just to turn off/on the monitor instead of rebooting the machine? Are you using 2 PCs? If not the you can turn off KVM and maybe the connected keyboard&mouse are going to work better? Right now I am using my monitor only with my laptop and when it hibernates/sleeps I have to use the laptop keyboard to wake it up but otherwise the KVM connected keyboard/mouse always work. I am using a single usb c cable now for video&io with KVM turned off. Also try change the usb port you are using to Always On (some ports allow you to make USB always alive even when PC sleeps or hibernates). Sorry I didn't spend enough time with the KVM to find all the quirks of it. Right one more thing. If you use a laptop and the monitor doesn't seem to register the keyboard&mouse using some usb ports - force shutdown your laptop (disconnect cable and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds even when your laptop is already off), this helped me.

    quick question, when I have extended displays, same as yours, do the tabs not switch back to the PC/Laptop once you hit the KVM switch? To be clearer, when you had notepad open on your "notebook", and when you hit the KVM button and switched to your PC, the notepad tab from the notebook did not switch back to the notebook, it sort of remained on the monitor, even when the monitor was actually connected to the PC. I dont know if this makes sense, but any help is much appreciated!

      Its was a bit confusing for me at first, but i figured it out after some messing around. Used a usb-c phone charger to connect my desktop to the monitor and the included usb for a laptop to test this feature out. You have to go in the monitor kvm settings to set one of the two usb cables to a video output port. So the usb c port would go to one pc and the weird usb cable imcluded with monitor to an hdmi port.

    • @patronautsvirtualworld8155
      @patronautsvirtualworld8155  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Font visibility is perfectly fine, it has the same PPI (Pixel Per Inch) value as a traditional 24" FullHD monitor, that is 92 PPI. As for the size - it takes some time to get used to it. When I was using a 24" monitor I used to glue myself closer to the monitor (my eyesight is not the best) for this monitor I have to maintain the distance of more than 90 cm to comfortably see the whole screen. My windows display scaling is set to 100%, cause I like to see a lot of stuff simultaneously but for reading with worse eyesight 125% scaling feels more pleasant.

    Good video. BTW if your computer has USB-C with DP alt mode OR Thunderbolt, you can use the USBC connection for KVM Connection AND the video output. @@MsSivaraman87 10gbps speed is ideal. Some of them also state in the description that are capable of 1.4dp standard transfer, just like you said. Both ends should definitely have a physical usb C connector. I bought myself a "Baseus Hammer Type-C PD USB-C 3.1 Gen2 100W 10 Gbps cable". So it is capable of 100W power delivery and 10Gbps data transfer. Length of 1.5m for 20 €. But it is not ideal, the quality is not perfect (windows notifying that the connection might be limited), so i reduced the refresh rate on my monitor to 144Hz I believe and it does not notify me anymore about this possible limit. The quality of the cable has big effect on transfer speed.

    I’m new to monitor and kvm thing and I don’t understand the purpose of kvm. Can’t I just connect my peripherals to back of monitor and connect monitor to both of my pc? I won’t be running 2 pc at the same time, 1 for work at day and 1 for gaming at night.

    • @patronautsvirtualworld8155
      @patronautsvirtualworld8155  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You also need a connection for your peripherals' communication with your pc. This is provided 2 ways: using a dedicated type A or usb type C port on the monitor. I believe the monitor does not accept peripherals communication from both of these ports at the same time (nor does it accept 2 video signals) that's why you need the KVM switch and you need to operate it manually.
      However if only 1 pc is running at a time, the monitor could potentially detect this and automatically accept the signal from the running pc. I have not tried this. If you have the means, please give it a try and let us know how it went. If you don't have the means, I might try it myself on the weekend.

    • @patronautsvirtualworld8155

      Other Settings -> Input Auto Switch - automatically switches to an available input source. This is directly from the manual. I still don't know whether KVM must be correctly set up for your use case. As I said, I might try it out on the weekend. Either way, it's a good monitor.

      There is no RJ45 on the monitor. You would have to use an adapter. But even if you used an adapter, I don't think it would work or if it did that it would work well (cause of required network data throughput if you are also transmitting video). Just guessing though.
