Oh my gosh! THANK YOU SO MUCH! This tip is amazing!!! you cannot imagine how many pieces from the Flourish Thinlits I've ruined because I couldn't get them to release from the die. This is a LIFE SAVER!!!!

Thanks Patty Bennett, I adore your videos !!!!! I think the UK/USA dryer sheets are different.......ours are quite dry. I love that crafting is all about sharing x

A die maker stated it was better to use shopping bags because they don't leave residue in your die. He said over time the die will fail to cut properly due to build up. I don't know, just something I saw :). I've tried used dryer sheets, it worked okay but the die was from China and had no release holes. I like your accent :)

Hi Darla, thank you for the message and the lovely comments. Shopping bags do work really well as well.

I have seen this also, it is a great tip...I think it depends on your big shot how many or less you have to use, but never thought of using wax paper too...thanks for sharing your tip....

Thanks MsDebbie1952 , indeed it does, I think the type of Dryer sheet you use also makes a difference.

A bit late to this video but I find dryer sheets really mess up my paper and coat it with a layer of stuff that I don't like. I'll have to try wax paper and see, thanks.

The wax on the wax paper will tend to build up on the dies. I have seen suggestions to use plastic shopping bags instead which are much less waxy but provide the same benefit.

+RaisingAlexis That was my concern and I ran across a video by a die maker on the Cheery Lynn website. I wonder though, if we die cut aluminum foil if it would sharpen the die. I've heard that when punches get dull to punch foil to sharpen them followed by punching wax paper to make them work smoothly.

Great tip, I'll give it a try! Your dryer sheets are way different than mine. Mine are just one thin layer & I always buy unscented.

Thank you ! You will probably need to work out if you need more than one layer of your dryer sheet. Stampin' Up! now has a precision plate and a die brush as well which work really well to get the tiny pieces out.

Great idea but I'm wondering, wouldn't cutting through the wax paper and dryer sheet dull the sharpness of the cutting ridges of the die?

      HI Audrey
I haven't noticed any dulling on my dies, but now Sizzix have bought out the precision base plate I use that on all my intricate dies.

I agree that wax paper, should not be used with dies. Love the dryer sheets though.

I use parchment paper instead of wax paper. It works very well.
