    I just shot my Norinco M 305 with my Archangel Stock. I shot it with the original stock when I first got is. Comparing the two experiences, I just loved it with the Archangel Stock. It shot pretty good with the original stock, other than a sore shoulder. The shooting accuracy I believe improved with the Archangel. I would highly recommend it!

    I just got mine this week. So easy to install didn't even take 10 min to install. Accuracy is a bit better. But most of all it's more comfortable to shoot. All in all i very highly recommend it. Keep shooting and be safe

    Check the gas cylinder at or near the area of the forward sling stud. On my stock the sling swivel stud had made contact with the cylinder. The stud threads in too far and is quite sharp. I removed the stud. Just an FYI.

  • @tumbleweed9977
    @tumbleweed9977 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How is the Promag Archangel stock holding up? That stock seems to get a lot of criticism from the folks who adhere to McMillan, JAE, or Blackfeather stocks/chassis. They speculate that the fit will loosen over time and repeated recoil, POI will wander, and groups will open up.

    Considering the price, and how little there is to the stock (not necessarily a bad thing mind you) I would expect the fit/finish to be a bit better.... at about 5:25 when the camera is zoomed in on the front sling swivel, you can see a lot of plastic that seeped out of the seem of the 2 halves of the mold. No its not a super big deal, but for the price I would expect that kind of thing to be touched up...

  • @ibanezrg320fm
    @ibanezrg320fm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    These must fluctuate in prices quite a bit. You mentioned $300, someone mentioned $115, $145, and I found the best price at I think opticsplanet for $220. The original website manufacturer has them for over $300!!! $346 I think. $220 was the best price I could find otherwise they're around $230-260 at other places. I'm in California and just waited 12 days for the rifle to ship BEFORE my 10 day cool down period. God I hate this state. Anyways, I did get the stock in and it looks so much better in person. I was kind of expecting a nice looking stock, plastic, kind of flimsy. Boy oh boy I was wrong. That stock is TOUGH, I mean tough. The only bad thing I don't like is the mold lines found around the stock. Otherwise, this thing is beautiful. Very good choice for stocks. The adjustable butt stock is a bit tough to adjust but the cheak riser isn't so bad. I think I like that too because it makes feel more quality. Anyways, I'm excited 😁 going to play with the peep sight before my scope comes in stock next month. Oh man I can't wait!!!

    my concern is the weight. I have a scout squad and I want it to be as light as possible. I love the idea of this stock, but it seems to be more for a precision rifle, not something you would use for a run and gun. what are your guy's thoughts on that? Is it too heavy for say a hunter?

    • @CosmicCorpse
      @CosmicCorpse 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is pretty damn heavy, in Canada the norinco rifle is about 11 pounds and once the archangel is on, it's about 12 pounds

      @Rickervision  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Richie Erueti I would imagine you are looking in the right direction where the only thing attaching the receiver and barrel to the stock is the trigger group. there are certainly custom upgrades you could design to make this stock even better.

      That's a big negative on that question, although if you watch some of the circa 1960's military training videos on the M14 you'll see that the guys that trained a lot on that weapon in full auto could work 'em pretty well. Of course back then, the AAM1A didn't even exist...

      @@Wundrdawg1 Did the EBR stock improve controllability.

    • @Wundrdawg1
      @Wundrdawg1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@viniciussurkamp6633 That's an interesting question, but I don't think "controllability" is what someone should be after when they purchase a new stock for any rifle. Of course that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before lol. I replaced the gorgeous walnut stock with this AAM1A for several reasons: 1) Adjustability- the system I'm putting together incorporates a scope, so I like to be able to adjust the comb as needed and the length of pull so I'm able to get my eye relief absolutely perfect. 2) I prefer the QD (quick detach) strap lock configuration on this stock being ambidextrous (I shoot long guns left-handed). 3) The Fiber reinforced Nylon is impervious to the elements where wood is not. This also makes the weapon 4) lighter. 5) Having the extra mounting rail on the bottom is sweet... and most of all 6) Improved longer range precision. This Scout Squad will now put rounds down range a bit more consistently than with the wood stock because of the improved fit of the AAM1A stock.

  • @andrewbailey6746

    does this stock change the length of pull from the original SAI stock?

  • @b2hchiropractic117
    @b2hchiropractic117 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    what about adding weight to the storage compartment. I find my M1A scout a little front heavy. Thinking weight in the hand grip might help with balance. Anybody try that or does this stock already improve the balance enough?

  • @danm7298
    @danm7298 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    M1a stocks need to be tight. dont cut the stock or anything unless you absolutely have to. Dont ever take the stock on and off. If these stocks are not in use or storage keep the spacer pieces in it because over time these stocks will "mold" around your receiver. If theres nothing inside, it will shrink and make it difficult to get your receiver back in and/or make it not fit right.

I wonder if you can shoot me some advice. Thanks

    • @Rickervision
      @Rickervision  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joe Cris I had absolutely no change in the movement of the hammer or firing pin. clean and oil the rifle really well, make sure there's no obstruction slowing down the firing pin. Realistically the stock is just a exoskeleton. Should have no effect on the internals.

      Unfortunately I really can't say I did any real measurement of accuracy increase. However just based on the ergonomics, you can attach a bipod and the stiffness of the stock, I would imagine it would only help if you were doing some long range shooting.

      +webster7710 I have been examining all factors RE accuracy with My M1A and the Archangel did not adversely affect nor dramatically improve accuracy. It DID make it easier to shoot, as the factory furniture had no support for my cheek even with a strap on pad. My Nikon M308 scope however seemed to be an issue, as when I replaced it with a Leopold, the groups became smaller and more consistent.
      Sierra Match King 168 grain bullets are the best I have found so far (1.25 to 2" groups at 100 yards). They shoot better than Berger or the Sierra Polymer Tip (3.5 and 4" respectively). The worst was the Sierra Game King Hollow points (4-5"). Now I will be tweaking the powder charge a little to see what that does.
      Be aware that if you have a Harris bipod (6-9") that attaches to the front sling swivel, it will still work with the factory swivel on the Archangel. The bipod wil project significantly forward at about 45 degrees or so, but it doesn't shoot any worse than off a bench rest. It does help to place the bipod legs on a smooth, flat surface however. I suspect that applies to all bipods to minimize bounce. Not only does it look good deployed, but when folded up, the legs bracket the barrel and present much less chance of tangling in vegetation. Installation was not drop in, nor was it expected to be. Filing of the trigger group pad contacts was required, but not difficult.
      Keith

      @hardrockuniversity7283 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a stock military low round M1a with a millet scope mount, M308 Nikon Scope, and archangel stock. I can't seem to get my groups below 1.25" and sometimes thay are up to 2.25". 168gr Sierra match kings seem to do about as good as it gets. I have tried Berger also with poorer results. I tried 175 gr sierra match with no improvement. My next test will be 150 gr sierra match. If I can just get consistent groups less than one inch at a hundred I would be happy. I am firing prone with a bipod resting on a smooth steel plate to allow it to slide smoothly. Any suggestions?
      Thanks, Keith

      Springfield Armory, the U.S government entity, developed the M14, which was adopted by the U.S Armed Forces. Springfield Armory, the private enterprise company, took it's name from the government entity and sells a civilian version of the M14
