I think it's more of an analogy about people in general and the systems we have set up today; how there's not much of a difference between the chicks piled on a conveyor belt and people piled on an escalator. An observation of the "efficiency over quality" attitude that plagues not only our food systems, but basically every aspect of the 21st century lifestyle.
I think it’s pretty clear it’s the commodification of everything we do. We live in a commercialised way in modern society. Like a well oiled machine behaving how it should. I’m unsure whether it’s bleak or not, because it seems to be human nature.

There's two different sides to this, you can have a female brood them or you can buy a brooder/ heat lamp instead if you do not have the brooding female or she rejects them, in that case you can brood them yourself, but in the case you do have the female you really should brood them, as it's more humane that way

There's two different sides to this, you can have a female brood them or you can buy a brooder/ heat lamp instead if you do not have the brooding female or she rejects them, in that case you can brood them yourself, but in the case you do have the female you really should brood them, as it's more humane that way

So glad to find this clip. Your caption below it gave me goosebumps! I saw this film in May 2000 and stopped eating animals the same day. These scenes changed my life. Unfortunately, it took me another 12 years to go vegan. I somehow didn't make the connection that these scenes are the egg industry-and that dairy is a living nightmare as well.
