Is Silo DLTK Possible? History of GoldenEye's Hardest Difficulty: DLTK SpeedLore Episode 04

- Welcome to Episode 4 of GoldenEye 007 DLTK SpeedLore. The deep and remarkable history of GoldenEye's hardest mode, MAXED SETTINGS, or what's been come to be known as "DLTK". What began as a challenge from legendary GoldenEye speedrunner Ilari "Illu" Pekkala, has since turned into the most nerve-wracking, suspenseful, and epic mode of competitive gameplay in all of GoldenEye 007 speedrunning.
In this particular episode, we examine the period of time in which 19 of the game's 20 stages have been completed... all but Silo. Is Silo DLTK possible? Who will be the one to complete it? We also examine the World Record progression of Bunker 1 DLTK, which almost entirely takes place within this era, where Silo DLTK has not yet been completed.

Great video Goose. I remember thinking Silo DLTK would never be completed.
I started to believe that it was possible after I had seen a TAS video of it, which had actually been recorded so that it acted like a real human player could act. Basically, it had been recorded so that everything went smoothly in achievable ways, so it was pretty much a proof of concept.

I believe that it was the video "Miikka Pekkala - Silo DLTK (TAS)".
That video shows a relatively realistic runthrough of that stage, which could be pulled off by a human player, and it has several moments when the player lures guards to explosive objects and throws Hand Grenades etc.
There are a handful of situations that might be a bit crazy for a human player, like a few places where the player runs past some guards, but there is never anything too crazy going on, and it also ends when there are more than 2 minutes left on the countdown timer, so a normal attempt would still leave a lot of extra time for the player to be careful.
I will gladly listen to Goose for 2-8 hours awaiting a yes/no answer

This is what I prefer about DLTK- there's a strategy. It's not just facing down and diagonal-strafing. Every enemy is a threat, and must be dealt with by using the fewest ammo and weapons with the least downtime before another one comes while you're vulnerable. This is why things like the Bunker 2 strategy involving luring a bunch of them into the room and then shooting an exploding thing is so brilliant.

I was curious about the annotations being removed so I got the restore annotations for youtube extension and it DOES restore the ones in Bozons silo run. Pretty neat to see!

For those wondering about the main channel, yes, it got hacked. Still not much progress with TH-cam yet. This SpeedLore channel was a Brand Account under the main channel, so I can't access it either.
I was wondering why I suddenly didn't have any of your videos in my recommended list... fortunately when I searched for it this channel still came up. How awful.... and I bet TH-cam is working at it's standard glacial pace to do anything to fix it too. Sorry to hear about this... really hope you can get this resolved asap.

I started Speedrunning because I was forced to try to the beat the times on Xbox for the cheats and have watched you for a long time and it's pretty fun though frustrating at times. idk how different the game runs from original hardware but so far the fastest time I can get in Silo is 1:35. Thanks for the years of content and inspiring me to actually try to unlock the cheats.

Been watching ever since I stumbled on the Cradle "One for Jimbo" episode, was fully hooked seeing the 3 part Aztec anthology and thought I was possibly insane watching kids looking down for four hours. The narrative you weave using the characters involved is compelling.

I will agree that it is kind of unfortunate that Adam Bozon's recording of Silo on "Dark LTK" was in low quality - that said though, it _IS_ the very first recording of someone who has beaten that stage with those settings, and this achievement alone makes Adam Bozon one of the most legendary GoldenEye players in history.

I think everything about the way it happened was just right, in retrospect. I don't think at that time it would have gotten 1m hits regardless of video quality, and I think it takes the Bozon mindset to achieve something as seemingly impossible as this was. That is, to not even say 'yes' after doing it. We're all part of life's rich tapestry.
I think you're right. It takes knowledge of the game to understand how hard DLTK is. Most people don't have enough interest to learn. Grinding through nearly 400 hours of a level where you can die instantly requires superhuman levels of patience. I am glad Bozon proved it was possible. For me, regardless of video quality, this is the greatest run in elite history.

When genuinely look at DLTK and what it evolved into over the years, genuinely think what else can be achieved with the game 25 years later. As I've put a lot of hours into the game over the years and spoke with my fair share of folk across the scene, for me it certainly shows the game has held up very well, when we still do content to this day.

Goose's Gmail and TH-cam account got hacked and hijacked, then deleted, and his access to Speedlore was cut off due to it being a brand channel, and he's trying to get everything sorted out. Progress seems to be slow going.

have you ever thought about doing 007 N64 SPEEDLORD BIOGRAPHIES? instead of talking about a level or category you do a profile on a runner? like what times they grinded for on which games and when and why. and what they were going through in their personal lives at the time? like were they in school? working? unemployed? trying to be a professional gamer? single, dating married? did they ever cheat to get a record? or consider it? if so did they admit it or deny? were the forgiven? so many different personalites. like sklarz is like an accmplished engineer in australia or whatever, and you have rutsou (allegedly) making mulitple profiles to dislike his videos. you have Ace who is smashing records on 007 and perfect dark before he was a teenager. do any 007 runners run other games? and to what kind of success? obviously you would need permission from whoever you were doing a profile on and collaborate with them and it would require a ton of research, but i think a video like that would be TRUELY REMARKABLE

From memory I think you can only put guards health to 200% but I feel like some stages would be almost impossible if there was DLTK capabilities.

Does anyone know why Boris sometimes decides to run but most of the time does the slow walk? Is there a way to manipulate a constant run from him?
Talking about bunker
I think he starts running if you stop paying attention to him or aiming towards him and he picks from a few different random paths. So I don't think there is a way to get him to run exactly where you want him to run to.
Boris starts to run to a random point on the map if he gets a certain distance away from Bond after he has been alerted. Bunker 00 uses running Boris but you need to get lucky and have him run the correct path.
