Her lives are always so much crisp and better. It’s like you cannot bottle up all that magic in a recording!

My Mind from SoFar was Yebba's breakout performance. About a week after she performed that song she lost her mother to suicide. This stopped her career for 2yrs and then Covid hit, further putting the breaks on. She then release Dawn, a double meaning. It stood for her Mother, Dawn, and a new dawn in her life. This tiny desk is all songs from the Dawn Album.
Another great thing about Yebba is no two live performances are the same. She is always evolving and experimenting with her music.

I think Yebba is one of those artists who sounds far better live and she already sounds dope on her studio albums

Whose to blame for her studio versions? I’m frustrated that this version isn’t available for download because it makes her studio version sound like hot garbage lol. Not trying to be rude but her live performances makes this full grown man smile with a tear of joy but most of her studio tracks are missing the soul of her live performances. My opinion of course😉

I love Yebba, she has been on repeat for a couple of years. 😭😅 Listen to her live performance with Lucky Daye - How much can a heart take. But also her live performances of One more Smile and Paranoia Purple, the latter being the most sad. She is amazing. ❤️

I had saved "My Mind" when I heard it. That song made me cry like a baby!!!!! Yebba is something else. Her voice is AMAZING!!! Any and everytime I listen to it I just break down crying. These songs on this video I haven't heard before. And they are spectacular. I haven't been able to find music here in the South like I used to find in NYC. And the radio stations down here don't play a LOT of the music I'd heard in NY. Pretty sad I'd say.

I am late to the comment party. Yebba is Abby backwards. Yebba was her Mother’s nickname for her. Her dad is a pastor and her mother was a science teacher. Sadly, her mother took her life. Yebba grew up in the Church in West Helena, Arkansas.

so glad to see you watched this and loved it! i love her music too
it sounds like you’re feeling the sad energy there, and yebba sure knows how to sing grief and pain - but also hope and love too! she has been through some horrors and she writes openly about that
personally, i’d suggest watching evergreen (apple music/beats 1 video version) next - it’s her first original she did after my mind. but tbh with yebba you really can’t miss, so do whatever you want - just more yebba please!

Omg!!!! Where do I start! I’ll say, I am you in a woman’s body hahaha. From the comments (where did she come from, do I like this song (2nd track), to will she have an accent) 😂😂😂
She is an underground goodie that I’m glad I found. Her runs, her presence, the soul and beauty in her voice is crazy! She’s a mix of the greats- Jasmine Sullivan, Monica, Brandy, Adele and I’m hearing Whitney Houston. Ugh- she makes feel good music on a Sunday morning with coffee in the fall. 🥰🥰💜

I wasn't sure watching you watch the first verse of Distance, I thought - he looks like he's falling love in with her. The start of the second verse confirmed it... She IS flawless live. I much prefer listening to her live versions - it brings out the best in her - what more could you ask for in a musician...

Yebba for me right now is my favorite female vocalist. So talented, great songwriter. The fact that Dawn her album was overlooked for a Grammy is a disgrace. This album was far more superior than Adele’s last album. She is currently now in the studio working on her 2nd album after coming off tour with John Mayer. Hopefully after this 2nd album she will tour on her own. The industry knows how talented she is. She has worked with Mark Ronson and was signed by Ed Sheeran under his label after seeing “My Mind”. Another talented singer right now is Lucky Daye and you should also check out his Tiny desk performance.

For the past decade or so, the majority of non-black artist have either mixed in or completely used R&B and Hip Hop producers but kept their music light enough to stay "POP" and thus secure the majorities music sales. Its a numbers game at the end of the day with the industry. That's why Adelle can come out with a whole album but only one song is released and she becomes a multi-millionaire or Grammy winner.

Yebba 💜 I think my intro was via Mark Robson in 2019 (they did live performances on Later, Glastonbury & Live Lounge) & have been a big fan since then. Have you seen her Electric Lady session videos? So great & definitely check out of you haven't! I'm sure you'd enjoy them. The version of Louie Bag is a must, that + One More Smile & October Sky are my personal favourites from it, but the whole session is great. Yo bro I just subbed. Do Marilyn Manson! His videos are wild af and he’s actually super intelligent. His lyrics hold deep meaning. Check out the most popular: The Beautiful People, Sweet Dreams (a cover), The Nobodies (one of my favorite), Disposable Teens, and yet another of my favorites Red Carpet Grave. There’s many more, he’s absolute legend of course. But these are some of his older songs from the times he was considered the most controversial artist out and was used as a scapegoat. Which he embraced and used it to fuel his success. Paving the way for a lot of artist still to this day. You could get lost in his history and even in the way his lyrics are careful constructed. Dope channel btw, I listen to all types of music so cool to see you reacting to a types as well.

I've seen several videos now of African American men reacting to Caucasian singers. It cracks me up that they so often have this semi-shocked attitude about White singers who can sing. It's usually singers who have done a pretty good job of "appropriating" the style of Black singers. I guess the standard of excellence in vocal music is when White people sound Black. Okay, that's one way to sing - sometimes great, sometimes the same old thing, same old sound. Well, Yebba, you can rest easy now. This guy you never heard of likes you. (p.s. there are other kinds of music)

Look for the hyper over sensitive you have to give credit where credit is do. There are a lot of what I call whisper singing black female artists right now. They just don’t have the vocal range, great songs or producing that is needed to have longevity. The exception would be Jazmine Sullivan and of course the veterans like a Patty Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Gladys Knight etc. It’s ok to appreciate an artist who is not the same ethnicity as you. Talent is talent period.
