    Got this laptop for free today from my work because an employee left and I am IT so instead of disposal I asked to take it. It was in a dock the while time so its barely even touched and in brand new condition. 1080p 120hz, i7 8650u and 8gb ram which I might upgrade to 16 on the cheap and its still got a warranty for another 1 year and 6 months! Great laptop and great keyboard compared to my late 2019 macbook pro 13". Got a free HP dock for it too.

    Daniel Hechter - man that brings me back to my years in Europe. So hey, I am picking one if these up tomorrow. USB-c type C is Thunderbolt 3, HDMI is unfortunately 1.4b (so it cannot display UHD at 60Hz but can do this through the USB-c port, which takes the port away from connecting to an external storage or whatever you want to connect. The Infrared is needed for Windows Hello.
    I am wondering why you see 6Gb of graphics memory, can you check again? I thought it only has an Intel UHD620? How do you like the brightness of the screen?

    • @DKDEFT
      @DKDEFT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Hechter🙈 my lil for jersey. I don't normally work connected to the external monitor and I don't use the Thunderbolt 3 HP Dock with machine. I used it with the HP x360 elite book 1030 G2, and you are I had the same issue on this machine and only was to reduce resolution so that it can display. would have to change resolution randomly on different days.
      to check the graphics memory use the command dxdiag on the command prompt. then it will pop details and click display tab

      Yes I have tried the Dell XPS 13. The performance and speed is great and the one I have got the 4K display which is great. Just found it bit small
      I chose HP over DELL in this regard. both are great machines. thank you

    What about its cooling system? Is the fan loud? I usually put a laptop on my keens, so the “heat” factor is quite important to me

    • @DKDEFT
      @DKDEFT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cooling system is the best. It has vents at the bottom and the half of the left hand side dedicated on fan vents. it's very quiet

    When I set maximum resolution 1920x1080, I found everything to be extremely small (including text). Does anyone have the same problem ?

    • @DKDEFT
      @DKDEFT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My resolution is also on 1920x1080 and it works perfectly (I don't connect to any external monitor). I have size of text, apps, and other items set on 150% (Which is a recommended size) with landscape orientation all these running on windows 10 enterprise 64 bit. I hope you on the same settings

    I have HP 840 G5 with HP Sure View and it's not so great.
    If you are traveling a lot and you need the privacy filter then it's fine.
    In case you use the laptop in the office or at home without the privacy filter then the better option is the middle range display with 400 cd/m2.
    When you have the display with HP Sure View and it's OFF then the image is not so great. The backlight is blocked and is changing depends on the angle. It's annoying. THen the only option is to use an external monitor.
    In my opinion, it's good to have HP Sure View ONLY if you really need the privacy filter on a daily bases!
