Full disclosure: This video is a re-upload. An awesome viewer noticed an error in the previous version, which we quickly jumped on to pull the old video down, fix the error, and re-upload it. Thanks for y'all's awesome support and keeping us on track!
I have the tool but they changed the meter to a smart meter. Had a leak couldn't get it shut off at the road because that new meter set the shutoff inaccessible with the tool I had. What I did was crawl under my house and turn the shutoff valve to the house installed when I was using well water.
Can a adjustable wrench close that valve? If it does, I just want to buy one and leave it inside the box in case of emergency I have the tool right there.
Great video. Is it a good idea to shut off the water at the street when going away on vacation and leave one of the valves open (such as a slow run from the kitchen sink) when leaving the home?
I get water slowly filling up the hole in which the Owner Cut Off valve is. This valve is next to the City valve is. What can be the Cause ? Great video Sir!!
our township said its an automatic $500 fine, maybe the cities and townships that want to fine you need to be sued for the damages being they didn't come fast enough
My valve is not directy under the opening in the meter housing it is at about a 12 degree angle so I cannot use the product you demonstrate. I assume my only option is to use a standard wrench is that correct? Is there any tool available that I could get that I could fix permently to the valve? Can you get a tool like the one you used that is mush chorter...say 10" not the 26" or 60" that are redily available? Thanks
William Shambrook the big box stores have other wrenches that should work. I would start there for sure! Thanks for watching and for commenting. I do appreciate it!
Also a big socket that fits over lock that will catch edge of lock blade, and a ratchet to turn it with. The lock only turns about a third of a turn, make sure which way to turn. Normally clockwise to open, counterclockwise to close. Best to know how before emergency.
I installed a shutoff were water comes into crawlspace after the meter. I used a sharkbite and it's pvc. I had to crawl under which sucks it only took a couple of minutes to do. You don't want to have to do all this mumbo jumbo he's doing. I'm not allowed to shut off were meter is. I talked to one of the city employees. He said city workers are the only ones allowed to turn on or of water by meter.

I couldn't turn it to 90 degrees, it seems stuck at 80 degrees, so water is still not off. Any advice?

Roger Wakefield. Why have a lock/key on the water meter cover?
s/o texas 2021 lets gooooo!!!!!!
Could it be done to turn water back on lol
We'll done good job man !
So I turn it, n water doesn't turn off? I kept turning n turning n turning n it goes round n round..how do I turn it off?
I have water inside the water main shut off so I cannot see where the valve is. Is this normal?
I'm so tempted to do this, but my water company will twig on and prosecute me!!!
Can I leave it off?
if you don't need water! 😂
What to use if we do not have a T meter key?
Crescent wrench,or two wrenches, take one wrench that fits shutoff, second wrench put open end in closed in of first wrench. Have a mechanic show you.

have a old house 50s should the sink water be on before cutting off .?... not to have a burst of pressure on these old lead pipes ...thanks !

So I just tried to shut off my water, same valve, but when I try to tighten it it just spins freely, what do I do?
At the meter or near the house?
Not if but when
All utilities are prepaid get these meters removed!
I honestly don't care whether my city wants me to be allowed to do stuff myself or not,I'm not paying $300.00 just to shut off or turn on my water.
My meter is digital
sometimes there is no shutoff valve
How dangerous are smart water meters to health??
My cow went crazy
