Hi Brad! I have a question, is it good to brush your hair multiple times a day? I find if I don't brush it multiple times a day, it tends to separate or become tangley, so is it ok to do that?
Dear Brad! I discovered your channel about 6 months ago - Right after I got a professional cut that wasn't what I asked for nor what I wanted. I'm 63. I don't want a hair helmet. I don't want a bob. My hair is fine and straight and somewhat thin. I need layers! I need movement! I came home with a bob and no layers. I immediately got online and found your butterfly cut tutorial. But my hair was too short to attempt it. Thankfully, my hair grows very fast. Now, 6 months later, it was long enough to give it a go. So I did it! And I love it! Also, I listened to all your advice and WET my hair, put the front pony in between my eyebrows, tilted it down in front of my face to cut, cut off a conservative amount, then cut it a bit shorter until I have it the length I like. THANK YOU! I am a happy fan!
it just goes to show that the butterfly cut is basically idiot-proof. no matter how many different ways people manage to screw up the tutorial, somehow it always turns out looking fantastic.
Them blue eyes aren't the only thing going for you; you also look great in every colour! Whether that be hair colour, or outfits, you absolutely kill it!
3-Maddie mostly because I love how she was feeling herself after the cut. I've got a thing about self-love. 😊 Brad your aura was shining so brightly in this video! It's a beautiful baby blue and light green! 🩵💚
Number two. As a mother of 3, I can appreciate her wanting to do something for herself and not having time to go to a salon. She also did it well and followed the instructions very well 👌🏽 I did a butterfly cut on my own hair last year and plan to do one again soon! The results were 🔥
Im loving #2 Elena!!! She had such GORGEOUS beautiful hair before but this cut just brought out her face features more and her hair is just so luscious looking!! Absolutely ZERO flaws... as i said before, her hair before was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. #3 Mady is very close to her... she was so cute and bubbly and this cut made her even cuter and more bubblier (if possible) 😍!!!
I did my own butterfly cut with curtain bangs after seeing your video from 2 weeks ago. I'm absolutely LOVING it! Came out beautifully and looks so nice and full no matter how I curl/style it. I want to be clear, wet WEEETTT hair and front ponytail RIGHT in between my eyebrows and plenty of over-direction which gave me beautiful diffused layers. I've gotten so many compliments and feel so much more confident and happy with my hair than my bland one length cut I had before. Thank you soooo much Brad! 💜🌈🤗 EDIT: I have been using your products and my hair is feeling so much better already. I have light natural waves and Wavetech with this cut looks incredible!
I cut my hair using the last butterfly cut tutorial and I SWEAR IT WAS THE BEST DECISION THIS YEAR!!! Despite having thin low porosity hair my slightly wavy hair really helped the shape. Ily Brad frr 😭❤️
@@KateFrost-jx5oo Me too! My hair has never looked better!!! 🥰 The hardest part for me was combing my hair in a ponytail while it was wet. But jeeeez my hands were shaking when I actually cut my hair, that was one of the scariest things I've ever done.
@@Mudi2783 ahhh i get that feeling 😩 I've been cutting my hair for a few years but the ponytail part was still a challenge for me. So glad we didn't end up with mushroom cuts 😌😌
every time brad says we can take the hair down and see how it looks before we cut more, i feel like he doesn't appreciate what a colossal pain in the ass it is to get long, wet hair into a smooth, high ponytail
What are the layers in the front like when you actually put the hair between your eyebrows? It's frustrating that we never see people do that bit right on these videos!
I'm happy you didn't hide your beautiful eyes from us. I did this cut at home last year after having had a c section and not having much time to style my hair a lot. It felt great, it looked great without much effort. Best decision ever. Having a baby again around new year's, will definitely repeat that process!
@@colonelchaos9266 yeah, would definitely recommend this type of cuts after a c section! It's such a relief to not have to worry about things like having to do your hair whilst figuring out the new pace and dynamic!
I have done the butterfly 3 times on granddaughter. She is 22. She has done butterfly 2 times on m. Letting my hair grow for 6 months ,then I am going to do the butterfly again. I am pretty sure going to do about the length of #3. My hair is still all natural color. I keep it long for my husband it likes it that way. To be honest he sees my hair more than I do. What looks like split ends is actually is gray hair and not split ends. I guess for 60+ years old it doesn’t need to color yet.
I'm happy to say that I did my second butterfly cut yesterday, with wet hair, and it turned out pretty amazing. I've been happily cutting my hair with your tutorials since 2020
@ElenaSloup You're so welcome! You are beautiful and you did an incredible job!! Plus, you had the guts to share the experience all over the internet!! You're amazing! 🍀
Definitely 3! I love the shorter look, you really get the face framing layers going when you cut it shorter and overall the haircut looks more cohesive and intentional. Her hair texture is also phenomenal with it (even before she curled it).
How can anyone using Brad's tutorial miss wetting their head? How hard is it to put the ponytails in the right spot? Brad makes it so simple. Brad please just keep teaching the right way.
I did this cut at 3 a.m. with kitchen shears after not having a haircut for at least 2 years. Popped on a hair gloss and I couldn't believe I did this myself. Honestly it's the cut I always want and never end up with. Thanks Brad! 💖
I just did this cut to my hair yesterday. And it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. Thanks for the tutorials and reactions to others doing their own hair you've posted as it's given me confidence to do my own hair 💇🏻♀️💁🏻♀️
I tried a butterfly cut, loved it, butchered it, and chopped all my hair off. I can’t thank you enough. I always thought a French bob would look amazing with my face shape and bone structure but I haven’t had the guts to do it since I lost all my baby fat. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU

My vote is for Elena. They all looks gorgeous but Elena DID wet her hair like it is supposed to be. You can see the results from cutting your hair wet vs cutting your hair dry better.
I have natural curly hair and searched for over 20+ years for anyone that could cut my hair. So many fails!! I would have 2 layers that would make me look like a deformed Xmas tree!! Finally found a wonderful stylist! Still need her to listen to me a little bit more but love the work so far.

Been desperately needing to cut my hair for so so long and I’ve been looking at hair cuts I can do myself and I think that I’m going to do it using this style of cut. Wet hair, apex of head, grande pony, centre of brow pony, pull directly in front of my head, start small, take more if needed! 👌🏻👌🏻 Wish me luck!
Second look takes the win for me! (Also, bonus points for using hairdressing scissors and cutting the hair wet.) First cut looked a bit too shelf-like at the front for my personal tastes. Third transformation’s ’checking herself out face’ was adorable.
No 2 was my favourite but no 3 comes a very close second, they did a great job, no 1 would have looked better with more styling, definitely needed soft waves/curl
I did a butterfly cut about a year ago once I grew my hair out of a pixie (because that's the only cut that would be able to deal with the uneven growth from the pixie). All my life I thought I had almost straight hair but since this cut, I realized I have 2B hair (even with just airdrying and no styling). It's thick so my natural texture never really showed up before (all the hair was mostly one length so they kinda clumped together and weighed down the curls). I am so in love with this cut and how my hair looks in it. As someone who has always adored and wanted curly hair, this makes me so friggin happy thankyousomuch bradd ❤
I have been following your butterfly cut ever sense I started cutting my hair again. I had it long and straight for way to long. I'm like a pro at cutting it now cuz I've done your tutorial so many times
I thought 2 & 3 were both great. Also, I love hearing tips about colors that cancel each other out. I had x mondo turquoise fade to light green when I bleached my hair and I remembered to get a Wella T05 pale rose blonde toner to help with that. Also, I love the Supernova foam and the recalibrate products!
3:25 I don’t claim to know anything about hair, BUT even as a child I knew that you should cut your hair when it’s wet! I guess because my mom used to cut our hair hair that way when we were kids? I just thought it was one of those things everyone knew!🤦🏼♀️

I have to point it out that it is extremely annoying to work with wet hair when you are cutting your own hair, especially when it's longer than shoulder length.
