The San Diego Zoo is located in Balboa Park, San Diego, California and is considered to be one of the best and most well-known zoos in the world. Founded in 1916, the zoo is home to over 3,500 animals representing over 650 species, including many endangered and rare animals.
The zoo is divided into different areas or zones, each with its own unique animal exhibits and habitats. Some of the most popular zones include the African exhibit, featuring giraffes, lions, and elephants, and the Panda Canyon exhibit, which is home to the cutest Panda family 'The Red Panda'

Thank you for watching.. the pygmy hippos can be, but it’s hard you have to see them on the other side mixed in with the monkeys. The regular hippos over by the giraffes you can. Please check them out if you have time. also be advised that certain parts of La Jolla Cove are now blocked off to minimize impact between sea lions and visitors. Please check out the local restrictions prior to coming to San Diego to better plan your trip. If you need us to check anything out for you, please let us know and we will provide feedback to you.. The exhibit was closed, they had an off exhibit sign up, unfortunately we couldn’t find someone with an exact date on when they will be back.. There were multiple animals that were off exhibit or moved around..
