I have worked in food for ages, through undergrad grad school but never worked anywhere that serves barbecue. The first recipe was on the money thank you.
Solid, would also add that most of these can be eyeballed. You'll never be able to taste the difference between 21.2 g honey and 20 g, just go with measurements that work intuitively for you
So i watched this video last night, and made the sauce this morning. I forgot molasses, but otherwise i had all ingredients. I like the consistency of the sauce, but because its ketchup based it had a hard bite of acidity at the end. Used 2 table spoons of white sugar and it balanced right out. Taste great and family loves it.
I just made and posted I think I put too much vinegar bcuz the tangy part was bitting. I'll try that next time.... but did u also had brown sugar in it prior to adding white sugar or did you use just white sugar?
Since I am the queen of my own kingdom, I just throw all of my favorite spices (paprika, dill, sage, garlic powder, red pepper powder, honey babe) to the pan and mixed them all which turns out well..I never thought I could make barbecue sauce out of ordinary ketchup..yum yum
Thank you for the recipe for barbecue sauce from scratch, I didn’t buy any from grocery after preparing my ribs, but the sauce was absolutely delicious I will definitely make again and give it to my daughter. I even had some leftover can I freeze it?
You saved dinner tonight...or at least saved me a trip to the store in the middle of dinner. Thank you so much! 🙏😊 You really are the king 🤴 of your kitchen ❤
This is delicious. I had to tweak a little bit but came out wonderful. A little trick a friend taught me years ago, add some butter. It gives a whole new depth. Delicious. Tfs!
Forgot to get bbq sauce and already made the chicken. This saved me. Didn’t have every spice, but I comprised and it came out fin. Thank you very much.
So True!! I Will Add The Brown Sugar/Molasses & Honey 🍯 To Give It A Darker Color And A Sweet Taste!! A Little Mustard & Seasonings/Garlic 🧄 And A Pinch Of Tumeric!! ( Then Cook It On The Stove ).. And There's It Is. Homemade Barbeque Sauce.
I have a question i made this added a few things im definitely going to be making my own from now on used it for rib sandwiches and yesterday bbqed a tri tip and drumsticks added it to both family was very impressed. My question now is how long is it good for? I have it in regular squeeze bottles in the refrigerator but not sure how long it stays good
Thank you for sharing this recipe of barbecue sauce. It's delicious! I will also cook in three different ways, actually, I can't find sauce for bake pork tenderloin I think this will be okay. It's easy to learn and all ingredients can be find easily. God bless.
Great video. I don't use paprika or onion powder in mine, I will have to try it. I like to use honey and roasted, cracked peppercorns. Sometimes I will roast thinly sliced garlic with the pepercorns.
Thank you for the info, fantastic recipe. I didn't have paprika, turmeric or cayenne pepper. For heat I used the black pepper and here is a trick (You gotta try it) I used one cup heinz ketchup and one cup of Sriracha Ketchup for the heat. If you've never tried Sriracha Ketchup, DO IT, it's delicious. I dont like.mustard, so I left that out. I also put in a table spoon of A-1 steak sauce, and I didn't have molasses so I substituted Karo Corn Syrup and some maple syrup. Again, One cup Heinz Ketchup and one cup SRIRACHA Ketchup. 😋😋😋😋
Looooove this video thank you so much for this tutorial. Luckily, I have all the ingredients and I just made my bbq sauce and my family loves it. Thanks again, you're the best! 🙂
Been looking all over hell's half acre for the basics for a good BBQ recipe. Super excited to have found your channel so thank you so much for putting this up.However like Kube Dog, when I told my wife what you said about me being the king of my castle, she quickly reminded me that I might be the king of the castle but she has the key to the drawbridge.
THANK U for simple and easy to follow . I made meat balls and didn't have any bar b q sauce. I had all the ingredients except molasses. So I did all except that. I had turmeric and I still put a little mustard just cuz I had it 😆. Only thing.. I had to eyeball measurements.. I think I put a Lil to much vinegar n couldn't try to even it out bcuz I didn't have no more ketchup. BUT... it still turned out good 👍 everyone loved it. It was TANGY, SWEET, AND SPICY!!!!
The Queen and Prince of my castle didn’t care for the turmeric. Other than that we added more ketchup and honey to cover the bite and we loved it!! Great base recipe video to get you started. Thank you so much for the video!!
I love your professionalism and tone well I guess I should your politeness... I love when ppl make item and just have it clean because now a day little kids too want to learn thing in the kitchen and people have all rudeness in a simple video....thanks you!
Good recipe, I would use more brown sugar. I know there’s a guy who uses 1 cup ketchup and 1/2 cup brown sugar in his BBQ sauce recipe. So a 1/2 or 1 full cup brown sugar is fine. Good recipe none of the less!
I made this in January and followed the regular sauce, didn’t have paprika but it still turned out good. Added as much garlic powder and onion powder my heart wanted. Just wanted to say that I finished the last of it today (Oct) but I don’t eat bbq sauce that often. It doesn’t spoil with all the vinegar in it but I’d say that starts losing freshness and tastes duller around the 3rd month in the fridge. But it still tastes good tho. Highly recommend. Thanks for the recipe!
I used Kashmiri chili powder because I had that on hand & it was a tiny bit spicier & almost tasted like cayenne. I’d recommend trying it. Edit: Also had a bit extra of the brown sugar because I didn’t have molasses.
just gave it a go with my home made reaper sauce, pretty sure i'm going to be playing dungeons and dragons in the toilet for the next month its that good
I made this sauce but used one whole white onion and one whole garlic (a lot of garlic!) and Ancho chili powder. It came out great! Thanks for the video!
My queen heard the dialogue in this video while i was watching this... So, now I'm commenting from my phone while washing her car... Who knew BBQ sauce would be so controversial.
This actually tastes like the ones I order at restaurants. I might've done a few things differently, like I used "red wine vinegar" which is meant & better for meat. Mmmm.☺
Helo z bbq sauce look really nice thankx for sharing im gonna try it .. Just need a suggestion how much in amount we get in bottles .. Do we get only 1 bottle with the amount ingredient you used or can get more Actually i run a small burger shop that why i am.asking about quantity u get
Made a batch if this today. I was getting a little tired of Sweet Baby Ray's. I did have to make some adjustment thou. I cut everything in half for one and did not have onion power, brown sugar or molasses. I used white vinegar but did cut it back a tad, white sugar (only 2 tbls), a little Red Hot maybe a tsp, a little honey and some cayenne pepper. In the end it came out real good. Not to sweet or tangy with a little bit of a kick. When I was a kid my mom had a home made BBQ sauce but sadly the recipe died with her....but this does remind me of that. It's a good base recipe so you can modify it a ton of ways. Thanks for this one mate. 👍
Loved these. Couple of changes I made, I used half regular Ketchup and half SRIRACHA Ketchup for a little added kick. Also used a little Karo corn syrup as a thickener/sweetener.

It's a decent start, but even the base recipe could use some more jazz. For instance, not enough sugar. If you look at commercial BBQ sauces they're almost 50% sugar by weight. I added another 1/4 cup of white sugar to go with the brown. I also added 1/2 tsp of celery seeds and 1/2 tsp of liquid smoke. Now it tastes more like BBQ sauce rather than modified ketchup. For heat I also added 1/2 tsp of Arbol chile powder, which I made from scratch from dried arbol chiles. That gives it some kick!
