$1,000 bucks for gas. I spend $300 their and back cheaper riding your bike their
Figure $40 a day fuel, $14 a night eating at American Legion in Piedmont exit 46. And $9 breakfast. Then mad (greed) money. I say $75 a day is plenty. You can camp for free in 4 different places. All BLM land. No services so $5 for a shower at school or armory. So let's say $100 a day is pertty reasonable. I used to stay at Sacora Station but it sole and now my $800 fir 10 days is $3600. It's not the Tash Mahall. It's not even close. I have found a cheap campground but it's out of tge way. I've just heard of a campground that is about 8-10 west of Sturgis in Whitewood. I'll be checking it out in August.
Thanks for the tips. I’m a firm believer that you pad your budget a little bit in some places just to ensure that you look at the most you’re gonna spend. If you come in cheaper, that’s great. But when I’m on vacation, I just don’t want to be having to count pennies.
And I did forget to mention that Custer is a State Park and that adds another 20 bucks to the total, but yet again that’s why I like to pad in some areas that way it’s not a big deal.

Almost always ride to Sturgis SD and sleep in a tent
Maybe one day I will tent and ride. I’m on a week long trip on the bike right now. But for Sturgis, I just would rather use my RV
