Hi Sir where abouts are you fishing & are you in the Country of New Zealand? & you are using Penn Reels & Rod Combos to & I've got the old Penn760 Live Liner Reel & Rod Combo & still works really well & they around 9 + years & for a Christmas Present I got the Penn VI 6500 Live Liner Fishing Reel & my son Regan he brought himself a Penn VI 8500 Live Liner Reel & Rod Combo & paid the price of NZ $300.00 & that is the biggest Penn Reel has made in the Live Liner field & my son Regan has brought this Penn Rod & Reel Combo a Year ago & these Penn VI 6500 Live Liner Reels & the Penn VI 8500 VI Live Liner Reels have a Really Nice Safety Feature on these Penn Live Liner Reels is when you flick the bail arm over to open position & you turn the handle on these Reels the bail arm will not SLAM OVER IN CLOSED POSITION & that's the Best SAFETY FEATURE on these Penn Live Liner Reels & in the past years before I got a 20 Foot Fiberglass Cabin Boat with a Yamaha F150 hp four stroke outboard motor & I did a lot of Surf Castings & the Rod was a powerful Kilwell 12 foot Rod & I had an a Okuma egg beater reel & a lot of times I could cast my line out ok but other times I wasn't so lucky & I would use quite a long 50 pound mono line Shock Leader & a 5 oz sinker & have 2 7/0 hooks & 15 to 20 pound main mono line & now & then I would do the cast & the handle on the Okuma Reel would turn around on me & SLAMMING THE BAIL ARM OVER INTO CLOSED POSITION & PING GOES THE LINE & THE 5OZ SINKER WOULD RIGHT OUT INTO DEEP WATER & I WOULD LOSE MY 50 POUND SHOCK LEADER HOOKS & BAIT & THE SINKERS THAT I WOULD USE WERE PROPER SURF CASTING SINKERS $ YOU CAN'T BUY THEM ANY MORE & THEY REALLY WORK WELL & THEY WERE NOT CHEAP AT THE TIME & I LOST QUITE A FEW OF THOSE SINKERS TO & HAD TO BUY DIFFERENT SINKERS IN THE END BUT NOT AS GOOD AS THE PROPER SURF & PARTICULAR DAY I WENT TO ANOTHER FISHING SPOT & THERE WERE PEOPLE FURTHER ALONG THE BEACH FROM ME & I HAD BEEN FISHING FOR AWHILE & I DECIDED TO DO THE PENDULUM CAST & A BIG MASSIVE MISTAKE ON MY PART & I HAD FLICKED THE BAIL ARM OVER TO OPEN POSITION & I GOT HALF WAY INTO THE CAST & THE HANDLE HAD TURNED ON THE REEL & THE BAIL ARM OVER TO CLOSED POSITION & THE LINE BROKE & THE 5OZ SINKER WENT FLYING THROUGH THE AIR AT SPEED ALONG THE BEACH TOWARDS THE PEOPLE THAT WERE FURTHER AWAY FROM ME ON THE BEACH & THE 5OZ SINKER NEARLY HIT SOMEONE ON THE BEACH & I RAN UP TO THE PERSON TO APOLOGIZE & I TOLD THE PERSON WHAT HAD HAPPENED & I WENT TO MY FISHING SPOT & PACKED UP ALL MY GEAR AND WENT HOME &.I WAS SO LUCKY THAT I REALLY COULD HAVE HURT SOMEONE WITH THAT 5OZ SINKER & NOW PENN HAVE DESIGNED & MADE THESE EXCELLENT QUALITY SAFETY FEATURES ON THESE LIVE LINER REELS Kind Regards Peter & have a nice day Sir
