A formidable lady that not only spoke with courage amongst uproar, but with wisdom and knowledge to expose and eliminate her opponents whom screamed with rage without any real substance.
Presumably you weren't one of the thousands of miners slung on the scrapheap by her war on the miners. Presumably you didn't live in one of those communities wrecked by her war on the miners. In fact I seriously doubt you're a 'ex-miner' at all.
The conduct of the Labour Parliamentary Party during this parliament was just abysmal. The backdrop to this speech was just a cacophony of near-berserk incoherence. She really did get under their skin. Lived in their heads rent-free.
In a way, it was, because it was under the Labour governments of the 60's and 70's that more mines were shut than at any other time. But at Thatcher pointed out, the socialists didn’t like to hear that fact.
Why? Surely it's the charlatan speculators in the city of London that should have been phased out in the 1960s? Or is it only working class communities you think should have been destroyed in the 1960s?
I love the back and forth between Thatcher and Tony Benn.

Powerful speech!
I am an ex. miner. She took us from being the sick man of Europe to being the strong man. Best Prime Minister in my life time, Strong lady,
Rare comment indeed. Thank you for it.

Coal mining should have been phased out during the 1960s.
