Demo Description
Zoe Dufour is a master sculptor with incredible skill for modeling form. In this Masterpiece Demo you’ll get to visit her studio and watch as she creates a longer sculpture from scratch. She’ll show you everything you’ll need to get started, including how she makes her own tools. She’ll guide you through the entire process of sculpting a portrait from life, starting with the wire armature, then building up clay to get the large forms, and taking it to a finish with the details. After the clay sculpt is finished you’ll see how she makes a throwaway plaster mold and a cast with a base. It’s fully narrated, as she explains her thought process, gives tips and warns about common mistakes. proko.com/dufour
About Proko:
Instructional How to Draw videos for artists. My drawing lessons are approachable enough for beginners and detailed enough for advanced artists. My philosophy is to teach timeless concepts in an entertaining way. I believe that when you are having fun, you learn better. I take pride in producing high quality videos that you will enjoy watching and re-watching.
She's so cool and charismatic, you should make more content with her. Maybe do some quick sketches together and talk, or u could have her on draftsmen
Proko should make a shirt with: "Í'm artistically ripped".
Statues like the man behind zoe are the reason why I just love figurative art. Look how beautiful it is, look at the anatomy and the dynamic. I just wanna have it, put it on my desk and look at it 24/7.

Proko FIRST REPLY 😂
My favorite thing here is that I learned about the whole ‘Unconsciously Incompetent’ to ‘Unconsciously Competent’ journey from Marshall in my first artistic anatomy class at LCAD before it was LCAD. I think this is the first time I’ve heard it referred to since, but it has been so important in my own life/teaching…. Love this interview!
i love watching her. So well spoken and talented!
This is so awesome! Such a good interview :D I totally wanna get into sculpting now
Its fascinating to see sculpting in action! 🎨 I mainly just make murals & art installations- I wouldn’t even know where to begin with this!
Hi Zoe I liked your points in the discussion and work exactly how you explained. I am a sculptor myself working mostly with water based clay but when I envisage that I am taking a long time to finish a sculpt I use oil clay - it wont dry out and start breaking up like water based clay.
I. Just. Love. Your. Content!!! Thank you sosososo much 😁💕
her sculpting skills are amazing!! I am getting into portraiture, I shud try sculpting too maybe, to see if its for me
Extremely cool to watch a nerd unconsciously competent talking about her passion. She should make a series.
inspirational, been a fan of this channel for ages now, and this video was awesome, I loved her answers, but I also loved your questions, Stan, that was very enjoyable to watch!!
Lovely approach to art. A great video! Thanks for sharing.
I came here to learn about sculpture but i just stood there mesmerized by zoe, she's so beautiful
I’ve never watched a video about sculptures before, but the thought process is really interesting
Amazing interview!!
She's all around AMAZING 😍
She is delightful. Great video.
Really interesting interview in a nice atmosphere :)
Finally!
The piano at the end was a nice touch.
Wicked Awesome!!!!!!!
Love her posture (etc.).
Felicitaciones a Zoe y a proko por tanto arte y perfección dios los bendiga a ambos saludos desde Venezuela
17:40 is so good
Yes we are nerdy!
Very interesting. If you wanted to have the most natural feel of clay in digital form try Zbrush. Iv tried all other digital sculpting software and by far Zbrush has the most organic feel. Scanning a real clay sculpt and bringing that into Zbrush would be a very good option to keep the pieces.
what's the proko five year plan?
she’s super pretty
I love you So much ❤❤
Great interview! I thought she looked like a rock climber, then had it confirmed.
dragon ?? i love dragons i want to sculpt it but it's hard af but i'll try
DRAGONS!!!!!!!! AAAAAH Why not keep them????? That little example was so cool!!
Watched farther in: the reference to music practice was really nice actually. I did that a lot when sculpting and honestly it feels similar
(Edit: fixed a typo)
♡
Everybody asks about materials because so often when they ask more art process questions they get, “well that’s the $64,000 question, isn’t it?” Or “I don’t know, man. I just feel it and do it. What can I say?”
Zoe is dope.
nice background
28:33 Blender is a Great Free software for Digital Sculpting.
What would I do without you Proko?😘
Beautiful laugh and smile
Holy Jesus, learning your craft for 60-80 hours a week!
Can someone explain what they mean by secondary forms of the face that they mention in the quickfire Q&A? I'm still a beginner in portrait drawing..
The secondary forms would be the more detailed forms of the face. The primary forms are the biggest, most general shapes, secondary ones are smaller/more detailed and so on.
I bet Zoe would be good at VR sculpting.
OH YEAH, LOVE DRAGONS ❤🐉😤
WHO DOESN'T?!❤🐉
ALRIGHT
This makes me miss sculpture & studio care so bad!!!
Like it
The birds sitting in the trees reading. How did they hold the books dear?
Lol I like the cartilage of the nose, surely a tertiary form not a secondary, then calls out Proko for talking about the zygomatic arch as a primary form.
She's extremely talented. Beautiful work. She's very pretty, too. But there's something so intangibly attractive about her, also. I kind of have a crush on her, now. Haha.
The first comment 💖
Dragons and Unicorns all day!!!
I like her, just that
Zoe Dufour, such a beautyful woman. Love you..
early
Is it still possible to lern drawing if i'm 18 years old and rearly tryd drawing?
Of course
no you will die trying
17:41 Wow...
is it just me or the past two videos were in 360p? anyone else have this issue?
@Kat Collins Ok thank you :)
Is the Video Quality only 360p For other people too?
Something seems wrong with the video quality.
how long will people ask
Proko is manspreading :p
When the artist is as putyful as her art 😍
First
Noice
FIRSTTTTTTT!!! I’m not in first grade btw
Oh I miss seeing her on the channel
Unconsciously competent would be Kim Jung Gi level.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE DRAGONS?!
she so attractive
*Now do one titled: "Boosting Your Art Skills with psychadelica"* :) also read the book J.Khrisnamurti-first and last freedom !!!
Just prior to 9:00 she drops some wisdom, for those with ears to hear, which isn't limited to sculpture but applies to life, love, politics, and other things too. The part about not inventing information is so potent I have to stress it, for all our sakes. Peace. P.S. Zoe, are you single?
goddamn her voice is so high
are you ever going to go back to drawing???????????
Drawing definitely is basic for sculpture...I do both....not like a expert like her
YO YOU THINK IM NERDY. :( THATS MEAN IM TELLING MY TEACHER ON YOU.
mostly men ha
19:57 she's five proko ofcourse she use a reference :| anyway continue
Proko looks like he's attracted to her xD I bet she's his type!
He already has a son and is likely married so I'd think it's just his usual goofy friendliness he has with all the artists he hosts XD I imagine he is also being distracted by what's going on behind the camera. The mics do a good job at blocking out what the others are saying in the studio but for Proko and Zoe those people may sound noticeably louder and clearer.
He’s married. His wife is in a few of his videos.
The sexual tension
Both your art has no guts. No humanity. They are just studies. Why not put more than realism and caricature into your work? Put story and life. Your art feels like pinup art or carnival fair art. No one will remember any of it unless you put yourself into it. I'm only a hobbyist and I can see that.
Stfu. If they enjoy studies, realism, and caricature then that’s their prerogative. They make a living doing what they love.
I mean have you googled his work or do you just know his work from TH-cam? www.stanprokopenko.com/paintings.php
Understanding how to draw realistically from life is super important for developing skill in art. Are they doing art to be famous, or are they passionate about actually being good at their craft? If everyone just tosses away the fundamentals of art for style (passing trends if you will), the quality of art will suffer and be lost. This is especially important for educators like Proko to maintain and teach the essential properties of art, which can later be accented by style.
Become a professional artist yourself and make History remember you.
i bet you dont even know how to draw. be a professional artist first before you comment nonsense stuff.
