You are the David Attenborough of survival camping: an excellent communicator, teacher and filmmaker, with total respect for the natural environment and a great sense of theatre and fun. Love these videos, have learnt so much. Thank you.
My daughter (5yo) and I love watching your videos! She thinks you're absolutely hilarious. Thank you for bringing laughter and knowledge to your videos. Love from Iowa, USA 🇺🇸
It has been a great journey of healing and recovery. Being able to sneak away into the woods and snow in 30 minutes helps me reset from family/work life. Thanks for making these videos Xander.
Xander - I've been watching your videos for 3 years now. Every single time I watch them I never fail to be relaxed and calmed down, as well as reminded of the importance of being in nature and spending time exploring. I love your content - keep it up!
Love how you're demonstrating it doesn't take much gear to live/survive a night out. Even in cold weather. Have a friend who loves to day hike. She had a scary hike one time where she got off trail and was afraid she wouldn't make it back to the trailhead and would have to spend at least one night out. She didn't carry much with her expecting just routine day trips. She was so shaken she was telling me she was probably going to stop hiking which she loved. I encouraged her to put together some simple items to carry just for spending a night out if she ever had to. A couple of ways to start a fire, a poncho for weather or shelter, a whistle, paracord, a water bottle and a metal cup, water purification tablets, a couple of energy bars, a headlamp. Add whatever else you like, say a map of the area. Then go someplace you're familiar with, hike out a little way, not far, not so far you couldn't easily walk back to your vehicle even at night. Pick a good campsite and spend the night out with just those items. Do it just to show yourself you can. You'll learn from the experience, most importantly you'll learn about yourself. How to face your fear and anxiety, how to make a better shelter, how to learn that it may not be the most comfortable night ever but it will be rewarding. I also love how you show the most important item to have even if you don't keep it in your container kit. Your attitude. Stay calm, be prepared, keep thinking how to solve problems. Damp icy spruce bows? Simple dry them by the fire. Carry some tape to fix the tear you know will likely happen in the mylar or plastic. Practice these scenarios and your skills and confidence will grow. And if you ever are faced with a situation where you might have to rely on yourself and a few select items you'll already know you can do it. Love how you've done episodes using less and less or more simple gear. Very cool.
Best channel on TH-cam. Xander man I thank you for the quality of these videos, show casing nature, outdoor skill, humor and your authenticity regarding sobriety. Rock on brother
It’s the small tidbits of info like small strokes on the ferro rod and then a big one to light the smaller bits that make this channel worth watching completely though with no skipping.
I like your versatility of tools/shelters/fires. Oh and of course food. Thanks for keeping it interesting---even with the hunting! I am a new hunter too so I like to see other amateurs giving it a shot too and not being afraid of making mistakes.
Thank you for sharing your travels with us all year long. I wish you strength and new ideas in the new year. Your videos motivate me to pack my backpack and go on my own journey. Thank you! ❤😊
Thank you so much Xander for all the videos in 2023, it literally got me through this year with a smile on my face. :) Keep up the good work and let me know if you ever wanna come over to Norway and test out the winter around the fjords. 👍
Hi Xander. Well another great adventure in the books, along with your little bit of silliness. Excellant all the way thru. Great way to finish off the year. I'll leave you with this. Cold winds mingle in any nook and cranny they find as Winter spreads her cloak around herself and like a breath of fresh air breathes a sigh at the beauty of it all.. and this xander is your playground in all the seasons, you happily share with us. Happy New Year.
Xander I've begun specifically checking your ch. each time I have time for viewing my favored content. Your audience greatly appreciates the detail you go into to explain all aspects of the methods employed. From knots to cooking ideas, and EVERYTHING in between, you keep us engaged and grateful for the details that, so many creators will, drop the ball on. This was a fun and educational video that both entertained and provided solid value. You're a Pro Host, well done, my friend. Blessings and safety be with you always. Very best your way with mega Thanks from Oregon. Mike.
Great job with the shelter and the necessary repairs. I noticed that you did some hunting in a previous video. Glad to see the branching out, so to speak. Thank you for the fine content and the effort you put into making these videos. You have two fans in sunny Wisconsin.
I hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas Xander. Please please build a snow shelter Luke from the outdoor boys has done them in the past and I love watching the construction off them. Sweet! Loved that pocket chainsaw, never seen it before, and the fire setup. Adding that one to the mix. Video suggestion since you asked: I’d love to see you spend a night or two with a traditional cowboy bedroll, and “frontier-like” tools. It would be a fun excuse for some bushcraft and maybe a history lesson 🙏

This was great, You were comfortable you were fed and you had a good time. I remember when you slept between 2 big piles of burning logs. And that looked cold, but this is a great idea and something everybody can just carry in their car to have an emergencies. So fun. Be blessed happy new year❤
I really enjoy watching your videos. I love the outdoors, I have done some makeshift huts with limited items. I use to watch dual survivor and survivor man. Then never could find anything worth watching till I came across your TH-cam channel.. there’s nothing like being out in the middle of nowhere. With not a soul in sight. It’s so peaceful. Ideas: Build a Wooden Small cabbin (or small house) + survival video, Fishing + building shelters from scratch, Solo survival on a Island. also loved the video!
The original "Dual Survivor" show's first episode was in Nova Scotia Canada. The long haired hippy guy (who was a guru survivor) made the same fire. I know that Xander had to have watched it growing up. Good job, Xander. You've improved the indoor temperature about 10 degrees from his best (70 degrees F).
Love the winter videos but would love to see one where your combined tools your used this vid and last vid with a sleeping bag as well so it’s more comfortable for you and maybe you could increase the number of day you spend in the woods
Something I learned during my years in the Boy Scouts in regards to Duct Tape is to wrap a bunch around a pen. You can get 2 long strips around the pen, not only does this give you way more tape than those little squares but also a pen for writing or even when necessary to poke holes in any plastic or tarps.
Your funny man chewing the bark I was cracking up. My wife thought I was mental lol 😂. Should do a chop log stack shelter they are really good and work well happy new year bro
Awesome adventure Xander, still can't believe how warm it gets in that shelter. Nice job! Looking forward to your next video, maybe Gustavo makes an appearance, or better yet, he does a full video and Xander makes an appearance??

Hey Xander! I've been binge watching your video's and truly enjoyed every one of them. I have CRPS in my legs/feet so I'm not able to do things that require a lot of walking around anymore. You make us feel like we're there with ya on these awesome adventures. You're so kind, funny and a joy to watch. Thanks for all you do, can't wait to see more. ((Hugs)) from Texas!
Good job with the pocket saw. A lot of people don't give it a chance because they pinch the chain constantly and get frustrated with it. Little do they know you just cut the wood so that as you cut deeper the cut opens up (avoiding the pinch). Of course sawing by hand with any tool (bowsaw, bucksaw, folding saw) generally sucks compared to a power saw but hey, it's almost maintenance free except for the sharpening. For the use case here (Kochanske style container kit for survival) it was a good addition. I find a pocket saw like yours actually feels more efficient than a folding saw in some scenarios. Once you get used to it, you can experiment with the pocket saw in a lot of novel ways that a folding saw can't match. For pure bucking, I think a bow, buck or folding saw is best but for other styles of cutting, the pocket saw is a good option. Long time fan from MN 😊!
Love the pocket chainsaw! I have been using one ever since the early 2000's. It's usually the only wood cutting tool that comes with me on backpacking trips.
Howdy @Xander Budnick 🤠 I showed my dad your channel many months ago and now he’s wanting to camp more. He used to camp all the time whenever he could, but since he got his new job he doesn’t have much time. We are going on a trip in a month finally all thanks to you! It may be a long shot, but he would love to camp with you😂 I would too but he’s the survivalist in the family. Lmk if your game🤙🏼
right on i like how that plastic sheet trick works so well i wouldn't mind to see how it bares in super cold conditions i kind of want to get some plastic for my hunting backpack i do have a few survival blankets that i keep in there so i almost have the makings of a warm easy to make shelter it seems.
Always love your content Xander! Inspiring to try more things out in the woods. I loved the only stuff in the pot concept, fun, mysterious, and practical. Have you ever had a girl friend pack a surprise bag with 5 or 6 items to survive the night? And you unveil what they packed once in the woods and have to figure out how to make it work. A buddy and I have been talking about trying it, thoughts?
While this winter camp looks quite tempting. I would like to try to do something like this! But sadly I know I would not survive the night. ^sigh^ However I really enjoyed the random yelling in the forest part. 🙃 wishing you a lovely new year Xander and family.

Always a pleasure to follow you. So inspiring. All the best for 2024.
I love when you turn into Tom Hanks from Castaway and start losing it due to the isolation 😂
Howdy @Xander Budnick 🤠
I showed my dad your channel many months ago and now he’s wanting to camp more. He used to camp all the time whenever he could, but since he got his new job he doesn’t have much time. We are going on a trip in a month finally all thanks to you! It may be a long shot, but he would love to camp with you😂 I would too but he’s the survivalist in the family. Lmk if your game🤙🏼
Well done Xander, Happy New Year and Happy Trails !
I love these videos. Just a regular dude having a great time outside.
I have a problem Xander… im ADDICTED TO YOUR CHANNEL!!!! Totally!!
I was skeptical about the pocket chainsaw but that thing looks like it worked like a charm!
right on i like how that plastic sheet trick works so well i wouldn't mind to see how it bares in super cold conditions i kind of want to get some plastic for my hunting backpack i do have a few survival blankets that i keep in there so i almost have the makings of a warm easy to make shelter it seems.
What about adding a miniature fishing kit to the pot? Some basic lures and a few fishing lines etc?
Always love your content Xander! Inspiring to try more things out in the woods. I loved the only stuff in the pot concept, fun, mysterious, and practical. Have you ever had a girl friend pack a surprise bag with 5 or 6 items to survive the night? And you unveil what they packed once in the woods and have to figure out how to make it work. A buddy and I have been talking about trying it, thoughts?
That’s a rad idea!
While this winter camp looks quite tempting. I would like to try to do something like this! But sadly I know I would not survive the night. ^sigh^ However I really enjoyed the random yelling in the forest part. 🙃 wishing you a lovely new year Xander and family.
