The subtlety is incredible. I think it's obvious the 183's are the best on this source, but with all things considered, the NT5's are unbelievable at their price point. But yeah, to me the NT5's sound a little sweeter than the 184's, which I was defo not expecting! Thanks for the review
I have the NT5 pairs and LOVE them over the KM184s for concert settings on my flamenco guitar. Another mic worth mentioning is the Sennheiser e 614 super-cardioid. All the venue's I play usually have the KM184s standard but the NT5 and e614s are had to beat. Its not always about name and price ;) Sennheiser also owns Neumann.
Personally I feel the 184 sounds the best at close position, with fuller and smoother tone. The NT55 was a bit unnatural, tone was on the thinner side. The 183 would be the best choice if only using one pair to record.
Prefer the KM183 omni - warmer, smoother - 183 sounded like a finished record - would be much easier to get a good recording with them compared to the cardioids.
Both are nice. Can you do a comparison with the mics 4-5 feet away from the piano, such as for classical music? I think we would hear any difference better than close mic'ing.
Great comparison, great playing. I discover a very high value for my NT5. Rode have great product in catalogue. What is the recording chain for this comparison? Thanks
It is the Extra-long microphone bar "K&M 23560". www.k-m.de/en/products/mic-stands/accessories/23560-microphone-bar-black/23560-300-55 In Japan, It is available on Amazon.
Personally I don't care a hoot about mono compatibility: I never listen to music in mono, and X-Y always sounds boring. Although I think I prefer ORTF (or maybe DIN or NOS), I don't particularly mind this A-B setup.
マイクの音質を確認しにきましたが、ピアノの音が綺麗で感動しました。

The NT5 sounds incredible - in this case i like them more than the KM184, more even, no/less extra-sparkle in the highs
NT5's sound is clear and bright.
I think this vid was influential in me ordering a stereo set of KM 183s. Thanks for putting this up.
The sound of KM183 is rich in bass and suitable for classical music.

I too like the sound of KM 183, NT5 and KM 184 sound very similar.
Great demo was thinking pf buying the nt5s. Beautiful playinh. What hymn is that, sounds very familiar
Nice playing!
Thank you. I'm glad you said that.
This I did not expect: While the Neumans are very nice, I think the NT-5's are just a touch better!
The RODE NT5 is a very reasonable microphone, but it sounds very clear.
I’m liking the Omnis more and more
I agree.
Without looking it is hard to know when they change😂

I have never used the Sennheiser e 614 and would love to hear what the e 614 sounds like.
You will be pleasantly surprised@@shirokanepiano

Thanks for your comment. I too like the sound of KM 183 best.

Thanks for your comment. I too like the sound of the KM183 best. The microphone catches the mood of the space very well.
With all things considered. The Rode NT5
The Rode NT5 is cost-effective and sounds great.
Nice crossroad cover.
ありがとうございます!
I like neumann 183 liebe Grüße aus Österreich austria
The neumann 183 is omni-directional and has a very full sound, which I love.
nice video, btw what kind of mic stand that you used for the video ??
My stereo mic bar is a K&M 23560.
NT5は本当に184に本当に似せてよく作られていますね。それでいてあの低価格なのは素晴らしいですね。
コメントありがとうございます。NT5は本当にコスパ最高です♪
Rode nt5 Top
Thanks for the comment, the Rode NT5 is an inexpensive mic but it sounds great.
@@shirokanepiano Yes, I know that it is not expensive, but it sounds great. I don't see any point in overpaying for 184, they are identical in sound.
@@WealRich Rode NT5 is my favorite mic!
@@shirokanepiano NT-5 was my favourite as well. But now I have the TF-5.
Definitely the omnis!!! The cardioids sound too harsh and bright!
I agree. Omni is a better way to record the atmosphere.

Thanks for the advice. I will try a more distant position.
Great comparison, great playing. I discover a very high value for my NT5. Rode have great product in catalogue.

Thanks
NT5 is reasonable but sounds good.
Would the pair of NT5s work well in a live situation. Let’s say u wanted to mic a grand piano at a loud church. Would it still sound good?!
I'm sure you'll get good results.
1:NT5
2:184
3:183
NT5 is cost-effective and the sound is clear.
Hi! Where can I find the mic stands that are in your video? Regards

Not bad NT5!
NT5 is a very useful microphone!
Neuman Cardio much better than omni.
Neuman's Cardio has a very clear sound!
Sounds unnatural to my ears and with bad mono compatibility. I would have preferrred another setup by far.
I'm sorry. I'll try.

@@skakdosmer it's a long journey
not thing different
Each microphone sounds a little different.
oh god NT5 is just unusable on a piano... thin, harsh.
as well the 184 did not sound good on this bright yamaha.
Thank you for your comment. I like the sound of the Neumann KM 183.
@@shirokanepiano I agree, the omnis worked better in this placement and with this piano. 🙏😊
