    For the motor amperage topic at 25:25, the only possible way to have more amps in the motor is that the VESC feeds the motor with lower voltage when at low RPMs. The universal rule for power is W=V*A (power in watts is voltage times current in amps).
    A fixed voltage and fixed maximum amps input (let's say 100A at 36V), can be converted to 200A at 18V or even 1000A at 3,6V, imagining a zero loss ideal setup.
    That is the reason why, for instance, a phone charger can output 2 amps at 5V while consuming milliamps from the wall outlet.
    I don't know much specifically about electric skateboards yet, just talking as an electronics engineer.

    I’m glad that you guys are discovering things and with that I Say that the knowledge I was going to give to Lacroix, but they closed anyways can go ahead and start widening and thickening boards. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 15 inch wide board. In fact, I guarantee you people will go nuts over them . If I showed up to one of your group rides standing IN a board with total comfort meanwhile youre Riding around balancing on a beam with your toes and heels hanging off the sides , You’re going to Go back to the drawing board, right? I’m putting you ahead of the curve.

    Esk8 Myth
    "I dont need to wear any gear, I know how to fall."
    I do agree knowing how to fall is a valuable skill but with any Esk8 / EV something out of your control can happen that you were not prepared for. In in a INSTANT you go from having the time of your life to your board locks up or veers in a direction you weren't prepared for and BAM head hits the ground.
    Great show as always gentlemen! Have fun at the ride tomorrow, be safe and RIP IT!
    Can't wait for this board to come out, I will be purchasing with these test results you guys are getting!

    12s8p is insane…..I did 28 miles on 90mm wheels in my hurricane and was DEAD after it haha but damn to be able go 50 miles of range is truly insane.

    Misconception:
    "more rebound" in bushings is automatically "better" in esk8.
    In reality it is preference.
    If you dont run trucks too tight and you carve a lot then more rebound is great.
    If you're more into speed and mostly ride straight with some turns the you need normal Venom bushings where rebound is more balanced.
    Again, it is down to preference and these are just guidelines to start from, not rules to follow to the letter.

    Yea at low RPMs, your motor will have insane torque. I have a custom board with 6384s and I literally towed a 5500lb land cruiser with my board, no lie. Esc was a flipsky 6.6.7 with lipos that can output 180c burst, 90c continuous.

    I think a big one is company trustworthiness. Ford is a huge truck company but how many people have broken down trucks In Their yard. Yet they will a million trucks or more a year. This mostly happens with China brands. You can say their customer service is garbage, but just because their customer service isn’t good doesn’t mean every single board they’ve ever sold is terrible. Had some people online roast me for saying the hurricane was a competitive board, and people were so upset over the name meepo they said they “completely ignored everything else I said” about my current board.”

    @7:40 harder bushings make it more difficult to recover from speed wobbles. Its a common misconception.

    • @MBoardsco
      @MBoardsco  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely true! Harder bushings are so snappy any amount of wobble is definitely scary af. Just gotta weigh the risks on both sides on that one.

    With that in mind what would you suggest would be a good charger for your older 12s4p battery with a stock 50.4V and 2.5Amp charger?
    What amperage charger should I be looking for (4,6,8,10,12, etc…)
    I don’t want to get a charger with an amperage that is to high but I don’t know how to determine if an amperage is considered to high.

  • @joshuamarkowitz5183
    @joshuamarkowitz5183 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also if you could explain how you come up with the numbers for the charger that would be great. I know I would need to keep the voltage the same and amperage is the current flowing through the wire. I’m thinking increasing the current would increase the speed of charging but I’m still pretty new to this so advice would be great.

      Yes voltage must always match your battery’s fully charged voltage. Current is how fast power is delivered to your battery and dictates charge time.

    Hey Mike,
    I’ve been recently going on group eskate rides and sometimes these rides can be pretty lengthy, so we often stop for an hour or so halfway through the trip to charge. The stock charger provided with your older version 12s4p is a 50.4V, 2amp charger. This charger doesn’t increase my battery percentage very quickly so I wanted to know if you had any recommendations for fast chargers? I was thinking a 50.V 8amp charger. I know fast charging isn’t great for battery health so I would only use it for long rides like this and opt for the stock charger any other time.

    Esk8 myth
    "You always have to replace a helmet after you crash if your head smacked the ground."
    I personally believe that's a lot of BS that helmet sellers likes to have you think. I have some helmets that are many years old and have smacked the ground many times.
    Yes there does become a point where eventually the integrity of the helmet is compromised and should be replaced but that is certainly not after every minor crash.

    • @TheDarkrad3r
      @TheDarkrad3r 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      unless you have real (not anecdotal) data on this, please dont spread this rumor. You should replace a helmet after any major fall that compresses the foam inside at all.

      @@kindfish11 - Anecdotes aren’t data.
      2 - A helmet can look completely fine from the outside, but the actual internal protective material might all be collapsed. Modern helmets are designed to absorb impacts through disintegrating the internal structure, and one impact will do that. They’re single use for a reason.
